They had the hardest time even writing a 2nd album; is this showing dedication & continuous creativity? And, what have the guys accomplished after breakup?
Another thing that gets me for most rock bands is, do they use their new found fortunes tune increase their craft - Learn? No!

I have loved this band from the time I first heard them. They had a wonderful sound with a couple of amazing talents in it. I have listened to their demos and various versions of their material, which is not that extensive, on YouTube. I would say that they had excellent material and were, at best, produced in a mediocre way. It also appears that they were poorly managed. Brian Epstein made the Beatles. Roses had no such mentor.

I don't think that the fall of the stone roses was a managing problem, but a musical turnover around 1994. I was disappointed with 2sd Coming. Lush did some Shoegazing then Britpop. They were not too clever to anticipate or see the change. Writing the right songs and find the right producer was the main problem. They have lost too much time between the 2 albums. Pushing them to USA success with or without Geffen was a big mistake ! What a waste !
it did come at the wrong time. if you listen to it as a whole its not very accessible, but technically it was 100s of times better than the first album and anything oasis, blur, the charlatans, pulp, ocean colour scene etc could come up with.

When listening even The Charlatans even nowdays tracks, I think there is a great difference between them. Charlatans had a organ player and did many reference to The R. Stones. New wave of new wave where was Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus songs (Elastica Line Up, Sleeper Swallow). Led Zeppeling was at the time not a referenced band for me ! It was Buzzcocks. Led Zep was for some kinda baba-cool guys, wasn't they ? There were many kind of people at these times.

LOL. they made 2 albums 1 of which is terrible the other of which is totally overrated and has only a couple of good tracks. watch this documentary from start to finish and you can pretty much see that the group stopped absolutely sucking after they got their manager and the program stops when he stopped being their manager. Evans is undoubtedly a slime ball but a lot of it is for show but I wouldnt mind owning my own golf club either.

I don't think that the fall of the stone roses was a managing problem, but a musical turnover around 1994. I was disappointed with 2sd Coming. Lush did some Shoegazing then Britpop. They were not too clever to anticipate or see the change. Writing the right songs and find the right producer was the main problem. They have lost too much time between the 2 albums. Pushing them to USA success with or without Geffen was a big mistake ! What a waste !

it did come at the wrong time. if you listen to it as a whole its not very accessible, but technically it was 100s of times better than the first album and anything oasis, blur, the charlatans, pulp, ocean colour scene etc could come up with.
I agree with you completely on the musical turnover. times changed, and 2nd coming is almost like a led zep album. tell you what though, go listen to 'breaking into heaven' now. what an amazing piece of music from such a tight, technically brilliant band

When listening even The Charlatans even nowdays tracks, I think there is a great difference between them. Charlatans had a organ player and did many reference to The R. Stones. New wave of new wave where was Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus songs (Elastica Line Up, Sleeper Swallow). Led Zeppeling was at the time not a referenced band for me ! It was Buzzcocks. Led Zep was for some kinda baba-cool guys, wasn't they ? There were many kind of people at these times.
