Great Video. Nice shots of the Alco units at the beginning. You should chase the coal drag sometime to its destination. It goes to a power plant north of Ithaca New York. There are some interesting moves as it negotiates its way thru the downtown of Ithaca. A real traffic snarler!!
At the beginning, which train gave the 2 blasts forward ( though I would assume NS by the flashing ditchlights ).. Good to see your making it further east to Pittsburgh here. Once again, an excellent video. If your ever in the burgh' give me a ring.
Nice on dude. I didn't know you were part of "Kermits crew" now, definitely a fun guy to catch the action with.
I'm sure you saw more catfish than you wanted, but the way you put this one together was awesome. That local sounded killer climbing with that blue unit out in front doing the honors, can't get much better than that.
How much goes on out there? Besides the coal trains that use the WNY&P to go to Bow, NH that I can grab out here, I never paid much attention to the WNY&P area.
We pretty much chased WNY&P 24-7, it was fun, the best ALCO action in the world! Never a dull moment, and NS wise, there have been lots of coal trains. Also, if you're out in the way of this video, like Meadville and Greenville, be sure to check out the Bessemer and Lake Erie. Unfortunately, we did not catch them, but they are an AWESOME railroad!
@o00o00ozy Woah, you're really living it up this summer before NE time this fall. I'm assuming more videos are going to come from this trip? If so, I'm looking forward to this best ALCO action in the world you speak of!
If I ever DO get out that way, I'll be sure to check them out. That orange has always appealed to me.
@o00o00ozy, what I mean is, do you have to ask for permission to stand trackside while they are working less than 10 ft from you.
I tend to get 10 ft from these things too, but its around "NO TRESPASSING" signs which I ignore cuz I know when to step back when theres a train coming at me moving at 65mph.
Well, first of all, I'm not sure why you would want to be 10 feet from the tracks, I rarely railfan closer than 35 feet. I try to obey NO TRESPASSING signs as often as I can. And yes, I had a release form for permission/access on the entire property limits of the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad. So yeah, I had permission, haha.
Man, I love seeing ALCOs in action. C23 had some awesome power on it, particularly the Conrail SD40-2. I'm a bit surprsied to hear a P3 from a Conrail unit, though.
@PaulPeirceFan negative sir. a few minutes of research would lead you to find that WNYP 4264 was built in 1966 as SP&S #326, which indeed is and was a C425. you may be confusing this unit to MECR 4243, which indeed was a C424 and now exists as adirondack scenic railway 4243.
Great video. I am through that area a couple times a month but it is usually the weekend and Meadville is often quiet then.

Here's a question for you.. What is the car in the background at 8:12? I know I've heard something about this car in the past.

Their shipping lots of their units out.. Their going to keep only 2 powersets here in PA still... That means majority of the 900 series.

@GenesisSanctuary 3435 had an RS3L on it the week before this vid was shot. Its too bad they swapped it. Still neat to see it on the point in 2010.
