  • I wish that this video looked fake, unfortunately was not. It is harder sometimes seeing this kind of things, you only think in sadness :( geez. Nobody is wished to have this situation like this u_u, not even to our enemies. Nobody

  • dam. shes stuck between the wall and the table. at first i thought this was a comedy cuz of how he said that. i mean, couldnt you just say mom didnt make it, not , shes stuck between a dam table and wall. now he's gonna have that image in his mind for the rest of his life

  • japanese don't like to be direct.

  • In real life, with the shock and everything, you probably would say it how it is, and not think about wording. The fact is that life is not like a Hollywood film, and it's hard to tell what people's reactions would be like. At first I thought that this video was acted, a reconstruction, but then I realised how disconnected the people in it are, and the confusion in his eyes. It 'looks' acted 'because' of the fact that it isn't... if that makes sense? My heart goes out to the people of Kobe.

  • hardcore

  • Very sad video.

  • What the fuck are you on about `The World 4 All` ? 6400 People died - WHat you think all the damage shown on the MANY MANY video`s around the net, and all the TV programs people WATCHED THAT DAY, is all just CG or something?

And why would the Japanese government do this for `World Sympathy` ?

What world do you live in? It sure aint this one.

  • Unless of course, you think this refers to the current earthquake that happened yesterday .... which says as much about your intelligence as your comment about the video.

  • @gurogananica

  • Japanese army of cource was prepared for what happend there but the government did not say to go.

  • that has to be the most dramatic news footage I have ever seen. It was like out of a movie, especially when the man assumed their mom is dead.

  • "You can't get her out unless Yoshiki comes here"

    That's mistranslation.

"You can't get her out unless RESCUE comes here"

  • @toshiakitanaka

  • that s sad

  • That's really heartbreaking, I couldn't imagine...

  • Christ, that is fucking horrible. I really feel for that guy. No one should have to go through something like that.

  • Damn, 6,000 in an instant. I hope I never experience one, I guess you can never tell when its your time. The guy was just torn inside, the look on his face. I would be too, maybe worse

  • I remember seeing this live on tv and it still moves me to see again after all these years...

  • Some big earthquake have happened after this happened in Japan. A lot of people are killed. I worry about when it happend in my place.

  • I never forget that Korean TV news said this is good for Korea.

    We have to wake up.

  • This is one of the most powerful pieces of video I have seen. Such a horrible thing to go through.

  • how about your country. at least its a perfect "3rd world" country, ppl like you are living.

  • Thanks for increasing in my knowledge. but how can I have much interest in your country. Never. and I know you are completely ignorant about my country too. anyway, its not a big problem, I only want you not to make annoying and obnoxious comments on this kind of vid, baby boy. its actually very discrimination isnt it?

  • Nah.. Im not ignorant, but aware of flaws in political systems.

I'm sorry if it seemed obnoxious. Note that no system is without flaw and its not the peoples fault. We are all people are we not (?)

I just happened to hear this interview with a finnish-born japanese diet member. Marutei Tsurunen. He pointed out the discrimination issue.

(And calling a 20-year old man a baby boy is not obnoxious then?)

  • NOT it seemed obnoxious. its obnoxious for me. ok you heared the interview of Marutei Tsurunen. is that all? yeah we might have xenophobic sentiments by some way i guess. and you have never had such discrimination. really? I dont think so.

I judged you are not rational adult by the way and what you are talking about. 20 years old is not perfect adult anyway.

  • The interview was not all, it just sparked me to look into the issue.

And yes, we have some discrimination too, because we too are quite a homogenic society.

And sorry again. I admit my first comment was somewhat provocative, but the point remains.

Discrimination based on sex, race, nationality, age, health, appearance etc. is wrong, and governments should do everything they can to ban it. Do you agree?

  • I do agree with you. We have a court precedent of the supreme court to prohibit discrimination against foreigners. However, we are under completely different condition from you. Relationship with neighbor is always unstable. Some jackasses are always flaming each other, but I dont care because it would be far from over.

  • >Corruption was most blooming in the late '80, when we were in the economic bubble. Everyone had too much money and noone cared about how to use taxes. Most spoiled but most wonderful era. Its just a mythology that corruption would be disappear if its developed.

    >spineless politicians

    some are always spineless

    >incompetent police that support uyoku and are in league with yakuza

    ......

  • The same goes for Finland. Yes, discrimination is illegal here (Finland), but it happens A LOT here.

But hey, what has that to do with this video? This video is about the Kobe Earthquake, which was a pretty big one. Let's just hope that an earthquake like this never happens again.

    RIP all the victims.

  • my uncle the guy my moms sister my aunt married (i said that to let you know im not japanese lol) is japenese and ive always liked the way he is hes really smart and straight fowared and he is really brave and knows jujitsu wich is cool he always ansers my questions too when i was a kid he was more of a father to me than my real father japanese ppl are great!

  • Can't even begin to imagine....

  • I feel so sorry for the man, and how brave he was to understand that he has a son waiting for he on the hospital. japanese people are amazing

  • That's so sad :( I feel sorry for that poor man

  • why people are so bad that they joke on death and disasters.???????????????

  • godamn idiot

  • I do understand there were lot of suffer and sadness during the world war 2, but it is sad to know there are so many people especially from Korea that they just cannot pay respect to people who experienced the natural disaster as a same human being. I would not do the same to Korean disaster, so I feel they are very inappropriate comments.

  • I did not see any ugly scenes, like robbery, rape etc. Time has just stopped and maybe we were in shock, everyone was so calm. I thought our human being is not too bad, we still have love, community mind, caring, and morals.

  • I was in Kobe this morning, where I grew up. My city, just like yours.... I saw people losing their families, helping others, carrying water, shops giving away food and groceries.....

  • I watched this TV program on realtime...

    It's not fake.

  • sad

  • monstermebaru...you're a fucking idiot. I'm sure the police had better things to do than hand out traffic tickets in the middle of a disaster zone.

  • idiot

  • Oh, after all, the japanese cortesy and respect; I admire this people...

  • We never see anything that real. It is so impersonal now. This is a really great video because we can feel this man's pain and we can relate to him. We can see his very real emotions. It was like he already knew she was dead when he was just looking at the house's rubble.

  • I agree with you...it was a powerful piece of film...

  • The one positive thing about this terrible tragedy was the way everyone pulled together despite the government's incompetent handling of the whole thing (like not allowing foreign doctors & dogs in because they didn't have standardized qualifications..pfff). I don't recall any looting and even the Yakuza were handing out blankets and helping. Hats off to the good citizens of Kobe.

  • I "survived" the Kobe earthquake and remember this clip on TV. I remember the man's composure talking to the reporter and his cracking up when he heard the bad news. Luckily where we lived was up a mountain and later we moved into a friend's house in Akashi.

  • man... that's just terrible. T_T

  • People respond to tragedies in different ways and unfortunately for some it equates If I'm ok, then screw everyone else. Pretty sad some people will never be mature enough to relate.

  • Two things to say...

    - People who wrote shitty things deserve painful experience. They would understand their very poor value, and their lack of humanity

-this 'oyaji' took this disaster in a very beautiful way. Very few people would admit the death of someone they love with so much honnor. The people who wrote ugly comments would cry and scream in the same situation... He didn't. In this way he acts in the way of the bushido, as a modern samurai.

  • You FUCKING KU KLUX BASTARD !!THAT EARTHQAUKE KILLED MY PARENTS, IF YOU SAID THAT IN FRONT OF ME, I'D KILL YOU !!! FUCKING CRACKER WHITE TRASH..I HOPE YOU GET MURDERED OF DIE A SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH IN A DISASTER LIKE THAT..GO TO LIBERTY CITY AT NIGHT CRACKER, SEE WHAT HAPPENS !!! ?

  • you should me ashamed you morons to say such ugly things.

This video seems real, and if it s not, this situation happened anyway in kobe in 1995. God bless this poor oyaji !!!

  • oh men thats sad...

  • wtf is your problem? no one deserves to die you idiot. How would you feel If your family dies like that? If they're monkeys, you're probably worthless piece of shit.

  • I second that. People have no empathy or common sense these days. That was painful to watch, poor guy. Hope the rest of his family was okay.

  • I third that, my parents died in that qauke.

  • What is in people's heads to make fun of people who have died in a horrible disaster?

  • Never laugh at anyone's tragedies... trust me... it will come back to haunt you!

  • My parents lived in the same city.

    Who said 'fake'?

  • dont you know hanshin great earth-quake in 17th-jan-1995?

  • I remember this.

  • Yeap is not a fake!!!

    I remeber this catastrophe.

  • Oh my God, I want to cry.

  • Why do people think this is fake? Ill go and spit in ur fake moms fake boob when she is under my truck.

  • This is truth.

  • Under these circumstances the survival of sons

    were the only good news.

  • mad max's world.

  • How tragic. Something like this changes a person's life forever.

I'm japanese, and I remember this was one of the saddest newsfilm about Hanshin earthquake.

  • Very very sad, almost cry. :-(

  • ;;

  • that sucks, i hope i never have to go through something like that.

  • :( aww thats so sad

  • That made me very sad.

  • Man that is just screwed up!! :(
