Do you have a tutorial or can reference me on one where it actually shows how to set up a 20" cinema display (late 2005 model) to a power mac? I am not good at setting up a computer, let alone all these plugs. I bought the cinema display and power mac on ebay and did not come with any manual booklets. I've tried searching on the Apple website support help, not too much info, not relating on how to setup.
nice ill be getting a mac pro 8 core to in 2 months iv hade a macbook pro 15.4 doulcore 2.53 ghz but it rilly sucks and soooo slow the internet wi fi has alot of problems
@candyee88 4 extra cores doesn't do it for me.... i'll probably upgrade when its 16 cores (32virtual cores) and then look to OWC to supply the ram and aim for 64gigs of ram. lol
@MacUserLogic did anyone mentioned you are sick? :P lol no just kidding man you got an insane setup there everyone who is watching this must be jealous
@candyee88 /f/uck off outdated doesnt say it aint good, he is still using a outdated 30 inch(twice) which introduced in 2003, well its still bigger then the 24'' led apple. 7 years old monitors why dont u say thats outdated. man ur a noo/b
@gjflix Goes to show you its not the hardware but the operator that makes big hollywood movies. Besides, I don't do videos, i'm not a director or video producer. I use iMovie and a JVC Everio lol
not that people will use them a lot still, but it is still cool to know that that computer will run great 10 years form now, mby a little slower then some at the current time but it will still kick ass.
Very nice video there bro. Just for the fact you took it apart (like a real tech dude should) and put the cam inside, I have to subscribe! Lol. Btw... As far as recording goes, what part is so demanding that you need all this hardware? Is it the mix-down? (excuse my ignorance) I do photography so audio is not my thing. Thanks again.
@BobDolman Thanks for your comments. There is Optical Out on the back. I Have the logitech Z-5500 connected through Optical Cable right now to give me full surround sound. Downside is when you plug in to the optical port, you can not control the volume through the Mac Volume Button on the Keyboard.
@ali5baba123 haha No not right now. 12 cores is nice, but there isn't enough jump in technology for me. I'll wait till the next year and see if something more then just 4 more cores comes out
You must do what I do, Audio Engineering. I like your KRKs. I have the VXT6s. I have a Gibson Les Paul just like yours, in black. Wait, yours is a Epiphone Les Paul right? I also see you have the 003 factory + console over there. Are you running Pro Tools HD or LE?
nice waste of buck Just compare tech before buying Check out the titanuscomputers, even if you are not a gamer, you get better videocards and sound cards
@diegoramos27 haha no help from parents, as i've mentioned in past posts, I moved out when I was 17 and bought my own town house close to downtown by the time i was 19. I've supported myself quite well ever since :)
what kind of work do you have?, for all that equipment it must be a really cool job, i´m so jelous, cool thngs bro........... a guy froms mexico city =D, peace out bro =)
@DickKnowsBest haha not rich, just comfortable. It was many years of hard work and living the life of a work-a-holic for many years as well. Once I figured out the whole "Do what your love and you'll succeed" and "Work smarter not harder" cliche's then life started getting easier financially. Good Luck!
@DickKnowsBest yeah the list is about right, lots invested in to software as well as computers and hard drive backups haha. I'm running four 24" monitors, 3x HP and 1x 24 LED Cinema Display. Having 24" monitors is about as large as I want to go with having 3 in a row. My desk now doesn't support the width of 3x 30" displays unfortunatly haha. I Ultimately want a single 30" as my centre screen and 2x 24" LED Displays off to the side. We'll see
why the fuck do you even need more than 10 GB of RAM???its not like you work for nasa or somoething...like yoiu said you only record so why the fuck do you need so much RAM?
@Gamer031711 Some of the programs I use are 64bit which makes use of the 32GB in my system. EastWest plug-ins especially with orchestral pieces use up a lot of system memory.

ah okay. I used apples Dual 30" LCD for about a year and then moved to the 24" LED Glossy Cinema Display and i'm in love with glossy screens after saying for a few years the Glossy sucks, after spending time in front of them I'll probably never go back haha but each to their own :)
I just got a 3.3ghz quad core xeon, 12gb, 640gb Mac pro on ebay for $1000!!!!!
No joke...the lady listed it as a Powermac, but at second look she seen it was a mac pro 2009 version...I cant wait to get it...I'm freaking out right now! Looks awesome...Great vid!!
@anwachukwu So many people keep watching that part over and over again wanting it to fall lol, I was holding on to it with my left Hand while setting up the camera with the right haha. I wouldn't have fallen, I promise.... *starts to doubt self*
sweet i ordered one a week ago but for me it was a colosal amout of cash to buy one how much did all that ram and stuff cost i only got a qad cor and 8 gigs of rab but dam 24 gig memory thats sweet
@aiden007700 That's awesome. They are a huge investment. If you have a business, you can write it off on your taxes over 5 years I think. It helps save money over all. Well here in Canada anyways.
@stickyslide That would work too. I just went and bought 3 video cards instead but really, have a look at the Matrox Double or Tripple Head to go. you only need 1 DVI port and you can run 2 or 3 monitors off of it. Pretty Slick product.
this decision and thought is just fucking up my brain lol imac 27 i7 or the mac pro i have a £3500 budget so what do you think i should get i was originally planning to get an imac 27 i7 8gb ram and a base model macbook pro 13 inch should i give up this thought for the mac pro with two quadcore intel xeon 8gb ram 2tb hardrive and the ati radeon 4870
@POSHLOVER12 Good Question, what are your plans for your computer? for the average user i would say 27" iMac i7 + 13" MacBook Pro sounds like a great option overall. for a power user who spends most of his time in one place, then go 8core Mac pro
im planning to use the 27" imac to edit videos and i will be using garageband and the macbook pro to use it around the house at night maybe and play some games i spend hours on my computer and because its a crappy hp it does get hot so i would want a machine that could perform well in editing and also gaming and would not burn lol im willing to give up the portability factor to get that performance but is it worth it should i wait incase apple release another model or just buy it now
@POSHLOVER12 I'd wait to see what apple has in store for 2010 before making any major purchases. Lots of talk about an i9 chip and so on. Stay tuned to apple over the coming months and see which route you want to go with.
Avansc: To answer your questions my folks arn't rich, I surpassed their combined income when i was 22yr old. I got into Real Estate and the money from my assets pays me quite well. so combined with music and another side job where I work, I come out okay. In life there is always reasons behind everything.
oh yeah haha PS: I'm also a high school drop out haha its funny i know but its true. Congrats on becoming a computer Scientist. What exactly does a Computer Scientist do?
make the software that you use. as well as all other software.
ps: was also curious, how does a high school dropout gets the capital to invest in real estate to turn it around.
anyways, id love to have that system you have, but its sooo overkill. thats a server, and is capable of providing numerous services to multiple users. there is almost no way that you can sensibly utilize all that.
im thinking about getting this mac pro for my studio, but i like being mobile and bring my work around my house. should i use a macbook pro. is there a difference in performance or anything ? its going to be used for photography and music production. please reply to this and help me out.
for you, go with the MacBook Pro. to get great performance, get 8 gigs of ram and a 256gig SSD Hard Drive. you'll be laughing because that machine will our perform most computers on the market today and its mobile.
Don't get me started on macs and how much of a naive person it takes to buy this overpriced thing. It doesn't take much knowledge to build or buy a PC and save thousands of dollars when it comes to buying computers for 10 grand. Unless you're doing tasks involving quantum physics on that thing It's a huge waste of money.
whatup mang. I hope you've considered utilizing an Apogee Symphony system to link ur units via S-Bus. You'd benefit from silumtaneous editing/tracking/and writing with vst's galore.
Considered but not where i want to go right now. I'm waiting to see whats in store for DigiDesign (Avid) in 2010. Big things are brewing with the change over from HD systems coming along. New processor chips, new technology. its going to be huge.
Ya see! PC's are just not good at music stuff. Macs are best for music! And this guy probably made money from recording people or selling his own music!
I started out on a PC did my first 2 years on Windows based applications and found i was spending more time fixing errors then i was recording. Now all you PC people who are going to hate on me for this probably don't have the cash to move to mac so you gotta back your PC world with out ever giving mac a chance hahaha
wow. 24 GB of ram? man i know u have to edit music but i dont think u need this much. lol am getting one when i have the money. and you have 2? wow. i have a dell E310 with 2 Gb ram and a single core processor that's really annoying me. but your is great. nice choice man!
trust me, when the day comes and the money's there, try going with an apple product, you wont be sorry. I Do feel your pain though, I started on a 4 year old PC
Very nice! and it's nice knowing you actually use yours. I have the new one too, and all these cores are going to waste! The most demanding thing I do is world of warcraft. lol. However, I'm hoping some of these productivity softwares that require long processing times can start to utilize the 64bit.

MacUserLogic 2 years ago
make the software that you use. as well as all other software.
ps: was also curious, how does a high school dropout gets the capital to invest in real estate to turn it around.
anyways, id love to have that system you have, but its sooo overkill. thats a server, and is capable of providing numerous services to multiple users. there is almost no way that you can sensibly utilize all that.

now that u have 2 mac pros i'd really love to hear some sick tunes of yours.
I have Athlon XP 3200 (32 bit) with 1 gb of ram and still was able to make some crazy tracks, I can imagine what u can do with your babies!

im thinking about getting this mac pro for my studio, but i like being mobile and bring my work around my house. should i use a macbook pro. is there a difference in performance or anything ? its going to be used for photography and music production. please reply to this and help me out.
Psychoticpanda 2 years ago
for you, go with the MacBook Pro. to get great performance, get 8 gigs of ram and a 256gig SSD Hard Drive. you'll be laughing because that machine will our perform most computers on the market today and its mobile.

I love how, when people unbox Mac Pros, the first thing they do is take the computer apart. xD
Technoguy3 2 years ago
it's the curiosity of how it's perfectly put together. I didn't boot mine up for 2 hours after unboxiing it.

Ya see! PC's are just not good at music stuff. Macs are best for music! And this guy probably made money from recording people or selling his own music!
FASSY524 2 years ago
I started out on a PC did my first 2 years on Windows based applications and found i was spending more time fixing errors then i was recording. Now all you PC people who are going to hate on me for this probably don't have the cash to move to mac so you gotta back your PC world with out ever giving mac a chance hahaha

Very nice! and it's nice knowing you actually use yours. I have the new one too, and all these cores are going to waste! The most demanding thing I do is world of warcraft. lol. However, I'm hoping some of these productivity softwares that require long processing times can start to utilize the 64bit.

haha enjoy the system, it'll last you for quite some time!!
