  • instanpoli duuuuh greek island slang means 'GO TO THE CITY" in GREEEEEEEEEK

  • @bargiann , you ARE THE STUPID morron , Istanbul comes from the word IsLamBul , it means in Turkish , Find The Islam . The Great Fatih sultan Mehmet changed this when he conquered Constantinople in 1453 . SO STFU . aND ITS CALLED ISTANBUL NOT CONSTANTINOPLE .Stop spreading things that are not true and accept that Turks fucked the shit out of u Greeks and are now the true owners of one of the most beautiful cities in the world ISTANBUL .

  • @ALIPADRA no you are wrong. "Lets go to the city" Instanpoli OLD GREEK ISLAND SLANG instanbul. even the Turkish flag is based on COnstantinople. If you want to debate I am more than happy to.

  • @wellwellwellall The half moon on the Turkish flag stands for the Islam , a lot of islam countries have a half-moon in their flag , and i cannot find a path that connects Constantinopel then to Islam ? Ever seen a Christian country with a Half moon ?

  • And why not Byzantium?

  • istanbum not Constantinople motherfuckers

  • haha my teacher played this in class...this shit is great

  • @clubdonovan36 lol they but this my class his name is mr.carbaja

  • aha.

  • Lol this is stuck in my head ;)

  • Lol they changed New Amsterdam to New York because Holland owned that piece of America once but they sold it so it became New York. Just saying.

  • @Finniej first was New York but holland conquist it and renamed the city to New Amsterdam, when England conquist it again they changed it to New York, the original one

  • i am proud of being from istanbul

  • The lyrics of this song are funny! Wish there was more music like me instead of the brainwashing noise my generation considers music.

  • did u know that Istanbul got that name because the greek residents (to who it officially belongs and made it the city it is) were reffering to it as "is tin poli" which means "in the (constantino)pole" but turks understood this as the whole name of the city, so they conquered a city without even knowing its name and called it istanbul?

  • You morons, Instanbul and Constantinoupoli (which is how it's called) are actually the same. The word Instanbul has greek origins as if you spell it is the greek Εις την πολη-->Is tin boli-->In the city.

  • @bargiann

    μπραβο!!με προλαβες!!...

  • ISTANBUL

  • Most horrible lyrics this songwriter Jimmy Kennedy ever wrote...

  • @lapislazuli248 If someone wants to listen to a classic song mentioning Constantinople better listen to the classic "C-O-N-S-T-A-N-T-I-N-O-P-L-E," recorded in 1928 by Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra...or even Al Stewart's "Constantinople" recorded in 1981...

  • I had a social studies question about this song.

  • Turkish delight on a moonlit night :)

  • even old new york was new amsterdam, why did they change it, people can't say, people just liked it better that way :)

  • i saw this in raising hope when the grandma (maw maw) was palyign that block game then the baby got stuck in teh green house and she fixed it

  • @hyperboi005 lol

  • what the hall!

  • saawww this in school

  • @Colton24Easterday thumbs up if you're too old to have watched this in school :3

  • is this slowed down?

  • will you people shut up about politics and listen to the song??Its Istanbul and shut up and listen! Are you crazy?what lands are you claiming??If it goes that way then the dead should rise and claim it!Native indians might claim the whole US!And Palesstinians would kick off israel and take back their lands!

Can't u listen to the dam song and shut up!

  • @0rchida Palestinians claim their Land and also send some requests to the UN to get a State... btw, Fuck Israel! Native Indians are dead, but Greeks are alive... You can only claim if you live!

  • @RevolutionaryRebel33 My dear,Fuck israel a hundred times,Am not even writing it in capitals. My point is,Ur not getting Constantinople anytime soon.In fact ur not going to get it back at all.Its Turkey for ever, live with it.And they're alive.

  • @0rchida But Turkey had to get it sometime, Right? I'm not even interested in this Piece of Earth, but someday when there is no Nationality Constantinople ( Istanbul ) will be just another Place to live! I just want to say that People have the Right to Claim whatever, but if they will get it is another Question... Myself is a Greek with many Turkish Friends and I won't say that Turkey should give Istanbul back. What happened is over, but they could Apologize for the Killing of Greek's!

  • @RevolutionaryRebel33 I'll apologise for killing the greeks,am not fond of killing anyone but god only knows what happened back then, and we sure nor u nor I got a sandglass that can bring those times back.So live in piece get over it.cheerz man love the greek folks though they gave us a hell of a time studying the methodology with all the gods they have.xD just kidden

  • @0rchida My Friend... you are very Welcome! :)

  • @RevolutionaryRebel33 Ps. It's Mythology ( = Science of Mythos ), because Methodology = the Science of Methods!

  • Dam!!I listened to it in Raising Hope and its just so dam catchy!!!I cant stop humming it!

  • lol wow i had to listen to this in grade nine social studies. its so cheesy but its actually insanely catchy haha!!!

  • thumbs up if you watched this in 6th grade social studies

  • it's catchy but... it's so repetitively obvious D:

  • @nivekeryas TMBG actually covered the song, this is the Four Lads.

  • lol i listened to this in global studies! now im listening to it while im studying!

  • it is sooo catchy! I've been listening to it all day!

  • They Might Be Giants sound really weird in this version for some reason.

  • Free Constantinople!!!Give it back to Hellas!!!

  • @markonesa you crazy?

  • Assassin's Creed Revalations

  • oh my god...i watched this in social studies class. hahahahhaha

  • @krisrainbow34 Me too!

  • @AshlynSaraK it was stuck in my head all day ! hahahaha

  • @krisrainbow34 isn't it sooo catchy?

  • Constantinople sounds sexier than Istanbul!

  • In my World History AP; "Ottoman Turk empire; Capital is Istanbul, not Constantinople... Why did Constantinople get the works? That's nobody's business but the Turks... Like the song..." Me and the teacher in unison; "They might be giants!" XD

  • I can't help but sing this in my head while I play Assassin's Creed Revelations.

  • I learned this song two days ago in social studies class

  • I loved when "Those Crazy Little People" sped this up for America's Got Talent. I wish they would have won the competition!

  • @D3Detka The version they used is by a band called "They might be Giants." Check it out; it's pretty awesome.

  • Thumbs up if you watched this at home! (Against kids who talks about their schools)

  • Love dis song

  • @GothicCrow1818 have a nice sleep

  • WHY NO THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS. still this is kinda good.

  • i was brought here by they might be giants version, which is better.

  • I'm from Greece and I like this Song, because it doesn't insult that much...

Now please answer me one Question: What do they mean with the Phrase - Why did Constantinople get the works?

  • @RevolutionaryRebel33 The phrase essentially means, "Why was the name Constantinople changed?"

  • this song is stuck in my head so i told my turkish friend

  • Wow, my mother is Greecian and German, and my dad is Turkish. I basically hate myself. And I like to think I'm a pacifist! Not all Turks act like people think we do... We're not as violent as Americans and others are led to believe. If the Turks are so bad, and we pillaged so much, how about way back when during the Ancient Greek when all they did was pillage? Every country has it's 'not so good guy' moments, you know. Not just Turkey. We aren't the only bad guys, nor are we always the bad guys

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei

(To preempt this, I'm not trying to make any sort of political or ideological statement - I'm just 'sayin' )

Of the three ancestral heritages you've ascribed yourself too, you've quite plainly surmised that (of the three) the most historically violent and/or violently depicted/epitomized (in hindsight) are the Turks. While, I would not argue the statement in of itself that the Turks have a bad rep - but.. well... come on now, next to Germany(!) of all places?!

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei

And I couldn't let this go! Of all of the societies, civilizations, empires, lineages, (redundant) etc. Greece is all but diametrically opposite of what you've claimed - Imperialism and 'going around pillaging' are, for nearly all intents and purposes, mutually exclusive.

(FYI) If you truly are Greek, then the word you were looking for was 'Grecian' - but that's typically relating to aesthetic qualities and not heritage. The word you needed was Greek. And it's 'Ancient Greece'

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei Whenever I think of the Turkish people I don't think of pillaging....I think of the women :P

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei Greecian? You mean Greek? -_-

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei im turkish too, well half. My mother is from bulgaria and my dad is from turkey. So yeah :P and haha turkish people crack me up, we are so funny xD not violent, funny! xDD

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei

still turkish people have to considered a genocide with 2.000.000 deaths armenians greeks syrians

2.000.000 death unarmed woman and childs is to much

KONSTANTINOUPOLIS IS THE NAME TURKISH THIEFS AND IT WILL REMAIN FOR EVER

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei You are comparing Ancient country with modern one? omg, you must be from turkey!

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei I like the Fact that you are a Pacifist, but you can't compare a Modern Country with an Old because Turkey should get Civilized when others around are as well... I'm not against Turkish People, but Turkish Political System and Country... Turkey does not accept Democracy because you hate us( and Democracy is Greek ), but we have 45% who accept you as Neighbourn and friends, why? We support you, but not a Turk said I love Greece... we also accept that you got our Land

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei you tell 'em biatch! hate it when people hate on another country. Especially one so awesome as Turkey! Well, Turks are cool!

  • @SiyuiNoKokuei Boo Hoo! I'm German...

  • Wow. I'm a Turk

  • Am I the only one who came here to just listen to the song?

  • "That is nobody 's business but the Turks"

  • Hmm..it's about right more or less I'd say.xD

  • TURKS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> greeks .

  • reminds me of james bond music...

  • great song btw heard it Cold Case

  • constantinople still Greek with such a huge history...

  • @PS2FanaticPlayer Well, it has a Great History ( btw, I'm from Greece ) but even I have to accept the Fact that it's now Istanbul because it was conquered by the Turks ( no Insult, just Opinion )

  • @RevolutionaryRebel33 is ok i am accepting that is instanbul now but in our hearts (not meant to be dramatic) still constantinople

  • @PS2FanaticPlayer I agree on this, when you are from there you can not forget the Original Name...

  • Guys, it's from the They Might Be Giants. Not miscellaneous

  • YOU CAN SAY ITS INSTANBUL.U CAN SAY IZMIR AND NOT SMIRNI,U CAN COVER ALL THE MASTERWORKS OF AGIA SOFIA WITH STUPID PAINTINGS,U CAN CHARACTERISE THE ANCIENT THEATERS AND EVERY THING ELSE LIKE ROMAN AND NOT GREEK EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ANCIENT GREEK ON THEM.BUT EVERYONE WILL ALWAYS KNOW THAT THE GREEKS WERE THERE 3000 YEARS AGO...U VE DESTROYED THE PIRAMIDS,THE PARTHENON AND SO MANY ELSE..EVERYONE KNOWS U COME FROM MONGOLIAN TRIBES WITH NO CIVILAIZATION AND THTS SHY WE DONT WANT U IN EUROPE!

  • @skourider Why are you yelling??

  • Sounds like some Ooompa Loompa from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory sang this song... soo catchy...

  • whenever i hear this song, i feel like dancing

  • Vandles,visogoths, MUST HAVE MADE 11 ACCOUNTS!

  • Guess what! It's still Constantinople!

  • Heard this in Social Studies........ a guy made a gay face to this song

  • my history teacher played this 4 us1

  • @Theultimategeeklolz Same story applies with me.

  • I wish to enjoy this song for its own sake. Let us NOT politicize it, please?

  • Damn shame that the Turks are becoming radicalized these days, attacking churches and synagogues and other minority religions. Once great city is being ruined - time to make it Constantinople again.

  • @Daemonocracy agreed

  • @Daemonocracy

    Jealous :D.

  • @Daemonocracy check ya history

  • @Daemonocracy what's radicalized is it a cookie?

  • @Daemonocracy Time to make the East coast of USA New England again...

  • @idricool I live in New England and I would love for them to secede so we can get rid of their electoral votes and I'll move down south or out west.

  • @Daemonocracy are you day dreaming

  • Comment removed

  • @honorhero Nope, just looking at reports from human rights groups like Amnesty International.

  • definately Constantinople not is tin poli ;)

  • İstanbul is our city now :):) We are Turks and we liked İstanbul thanks byzantine :D

  • The Turks changed all the Greek names of most of the cities. They are afraid of anything that connects the Turkish lands with Hellenism.

Istanbul IS Constantinople and it WILL BE Greek again.

  • @shockolanu Are you dreaming? :)

  • @byCTRANGER

No, I'm serious. My Greek friend's family is from Makrohori (Makrikoy distorted by turks). In 1925, it was renamed to Bakirkoy, so that it's Hellenic meaning of Long Village will be lost. I have thousands of examples.

You are afraid of anything that connects Turkish lands with Hellenism.

Istanbul is Constantinople and yes, it will be Greek again. The Romanian Empire is rising and you can't do a thing about it.

  • @shockolanu yes yes u r dreaming :) romanian empire rising huh? :) puhahahahahha :D

  • @shockolanu HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA güldürdün

  • @shockolanu Now let me explain why we have changed a lot of names here. Its true that they were in Greek once, but as we moved in that lands, that names were unclear to us, we couldn't know what the heck means Makrohori. So we have changed that names with Turkish ones, that way we understand what does that mean, Makrohori-->Bakirkoy (means "Copper Village" in Turkish). So please stop being a Muslim/Turk enemy and consider it as a historical event instead. /// And about the video; Great song. :)

  • @Valannor77

    Bollocks and lies.

  • @shockolanu

    what the hell?

are you suggesting that declaration of a war is the way it should be?

AFTER HUNDREDS OF YEARS AND ISTANBUL WILL BE GREEK AGAIN?

and why should i be judged because of our past which is started about THOUSANDS of years ago.

ah, forget about everything, you are just another racist greek boy who has got no understanding about life and it's wisdom. there are a lot of turkish racist idiots here too, so you are not alone kid.

    have fun.

  • @EVILSLAY

No. Actually, you can cede back the lands you stole from the Greeks by expelling them from their own homes. Thrace, Constantinople, Asia Minor. All belong to Greeks and you should give them back.

Yes, it will be Greek again. It is not hundreds of years, 1924 is the year you've expelled the Greeks from Turkey. Until then, they were living in their own lands, even if occupied.

Only God can judge you, but I can state what Turkey did: committed Genocides.

  • @shockolanu i am not telling it was great times but romanians were like us too, everyone who held power back these years tried to conquer others lands, how the hell do you think greek empire became big like that?

on the top of that since 1453 it belongs to turkish people, it is nearly 600 years now, can you get it over with? 1924 is the year we won the battle agains the whole world and if we committed genocides then how it is possible that there are armenians in turkey living in peace with us?

  • @shockolanu oh i forgot, THIS IS ISTANBUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    - KİCKS THE GREEK BOY TO THE ABYSS -

    lol XD

greatings from istanbul again my bro ^-^

  • @EVILSLAY

The world is changing and Erdogan is isolating you. Israel has enabled an alliance pact with Cyprus and Greece. Russia has sent a nuclear submarine and Admiral Kuznetsov (armed with nuclear warheads) to protect Greece and Cyprus form Turkish aggression.

I will pray in the orthodox church Hagia Sofia in this lifetime.

  • @shockolanu yeeees yes, you know what, if you knew what are you praying for, you would not do that my friend. war is only the source of other problems, the true answer had never been war and would never be war. you will see in time, of course you must age a little but time is a great healer and you will understand that i beleive.

    have a good life (=

    by the way this weekend i am going to Hagia Sofia (;

and one last thing, you don't have to invade istanbul to pray in hagia, just come and pray.

  • @EVILSLAY

Wow, a pacifist Turk... I'm astonished. Are you sure you are of Turkish descend? :P

War indeed is a source of problems, but then again... you're not going to give back Constantinople to it's rightful owners.

Time has passed and I don't have 100 lifetimes for the wounds to heal... Perhaps you've forgotten about the invasion of Cyprus.

Thank you, have a good life too.

You are going to Hagia Sofia to visit a Museum. I'm going to go to the Orthodox Church Hagia Sofia.

  • @shockolanu i'm with you man!

you are romanian and living in Greece?

  • @PS2FanaticPlayer

    thanks... I live in Romania.

  • @shockolanu nice and i from Romania but living in Cyprus

  • @PS2FanaticPlayer

Hehehe, I feel a little envious, Cyprus is a very beautiful place to live in.

    Salutari din Romania :)

  • @shockolanu da ieste multumesc!

  • @shockolanu

Hmm... You are really weird. You are telling about rightfull owners? And by that you mean Greeks I assume.. But you are forgetting something. Istanbul, under the Greeks before Turks conquered it, was only 1 percent of today´s Istanbul. So it´s fightfully Turks city.

  • @EVILSLAY history shouldn't be forgotten alright man? what the Turks did to humanity, to greeks and especially us the cypriots shouldn't let it go, you guys take people homes, kill their families, make then refuges in their own countries and you tell us to let it be? my father fought in '74 for cyprus when he was only 14, like many others did and just let be??

seriously now? now old people who haven't see their home for years they dying with tears in their eyes because they never get the....

  • @EVILSLAY ....chance to see again their homes, the place they grew up, they play when they were little...you just can let all this thing back...we want our land back, turkey has no right to take it.

just saying history must not be forgotten, never no matter when the facts happen...

nothing racist in my words is just the way it is. i have nothing against a Turkish person....

  • @shockolanu

Thanks brother love to Romania :)

  • @LysisRealEstate

No need to thank me adelfo.

Love to Greece and all Greeks on this planet.

  • @shockolanu but now its İSTANBUL not constantinapole

  • @shockolanu THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • for me it will always be constantinople!!
