  • We have an 87 doing that, found fuel line rotting of at gas tank sending unit, ran great after replacing! Both fuel pick up line and fuel return were rusting off of top of sending unit!

  • didnt know they used this engine in usa.

  • wow some1 needs new motor mounts

  • This is what my 88' Ranger does right now! It wasts so much gas like this! Thanks for this video now I know what to check next!

  • My uncle actually worked on a bronco with the 2.9 with this exact problem, strange how the regulator fails like that.

  • thank you for showing this video my car sounds the same at the moment and I need to get the car an idle valve ordered for the idle to start smoothly again this video really helped me a lot . Thank you . :)

  • I've heard restricting the fuel via a vise grip helps diagnose this, so you don't have to go and drill a hole in your caty converter.

  • I'm having the same damn problem with mine, same year same engine. This just helps confirm my suspicions.

  • rofl sounds like an old lawn mower before you rev it

  • I had the exact same thing happen to my '88 Ranger, same engine and everything. Took me a few weeks to finally figure it out, though. I had no idea it could do that, at the time.

  • looks like a broken engine mount too its shaking pretty bad

  • it kinda sounds like a tractor but sounds decent. no hate though, i drive a 93' ranger with a swapped v8. rangers #1 mini-truck

  • i used to have a ford with a carb...

    carbs are pieces of shit!

    ONLY fuel injection!!!

  • This is fuel injection. Bad fuel pressure regulator. Fuel injection IS great when everything is working nicely. Modern fuel injection setups are also smart enough to virtually pinpoint problems - unlike the older setup in this truck

  • really? damn some one forgot to tell the drag racers that.

  • tell drag races?

as if they were a living person?

yea a carb would be good if you just wanted to pour gas in the cylinders but fuel injection is a precision injection regulated by a computer.

    its perfect

  • explain to me why fuel injection is better than carbs rather than just saying they are perfect.

  • perfect

  • in other words, you don't know a damn thing about either one except a complete moron can drive something that is computer controlled? the only few things efi has on carberation is the ability to adapt to air qualities and adapt to better meet emission standards. as far as performance a carborator will out do efi systems, and it is not just dumping gas down the cylinders.

  • @kreigsmann why is this guy allowed near a keyboard?!

  • make sure the truck is firing on all 6 cylinders, it sounds like a mis-fire if that's not it get it timed, the reason the engine is bouncing so much is unbalanced firing sequence, mine did that when the cap was tilted on the distributor and the rotor hit it and left a large gash it and it didn't run right till both were replaced.

  • Read the description, the fuel pressure regulator had cracked the diaphragm, and was dumping raw fuel into the intake through the vacuum line

  • your favorite word?

  • it sounds like the timing is off. and it looks like there are a few missing engine mount bolts lol

  • Faulty fuel pressure regulator dumping raw fuel into the intake via vacuum line. Any engine will vibrate like this while firing on 1-2 cylinders. If it was out of time, it would have not cleared up and ran smooth at the end.
