I had the toys from this show. The Bronco and the Helicopter......Loved this show and it only lasted 13 episodes. Funny, I was watchin NCIS and remembered Mark Harmon from this show and looked 240 R on YOUTUBE.
I remember watching this back when these were new. I was 4 or 5. Watching this now. I love how the driver just leisurely hangs out in the truck. Making wise cracks on the radio. while his partner hauls ass down the pier.
Actually, I thought this was one of the worst shows on TV. No wonder it didn't last. In this episode the helicopter actually had something to do besides hover overhead and observe, which is all it did in the other shows. BTW, 240 Roberts is also the name of a custom rifle cartridge that gained some popular appeal.
GREAT! Thanks for posting this!!! I agree with the other posters, this had at least the potential of multiple seasons with the original cast; and was likely better than TJ Hooker.
I love how Harmon leaves his heavy-barrelled .38 Smith and Wesson on the seat, and his partner trapped in the Bronco (love how he tries to get the door open)!
What killed it was the day it was on: Monday's before Monday night Football. Beacuse of the games, the show was put on at all different times depending on what time zone it was in. When they re-ran the episodes on Saturdays in the summer of 1980, the ratings went through the roof. Unfortuantely, harmon and cassidy had gone on to other shows. When the show returned in early 1981 with a new cast, the audience had moved on to other shows...Unfortunate!
What was ABC thinking when they pulled the plug on this show? Mark Harmon's presence alone could have helped it last at least five years.
Harmon left 240-ROBERT after the fall of '79 ABC should have made Harmon a huge financial offer to keep him on the show. Once Harmon left, it killed the show's chances of surviving.
An early 80's ABC lineup with 240-ROBERT followed by The Fall Guy would have been awesome!
I hope old 240-ROBERT episodes will soon be available on DVD.
I bet anything she went back to him after that ordeal was over.

Wow, that's the same car that was featured in an episode of Huell Howser called "Water Car." It's one of his most requested episode.
I thought it looked familiar; when they say "it's headed for the water" I knew for sure what it was. :)
