  • YOU ALL DON'T UNDERSTAND ,,,, STOP THAT VIDEO , SEE WHICH OF THEM SOUNDS BETTER TO YOU , BUY ONE , KEEP PRACTICING !!! It's the guitarist or the violinist not the instruments -.- .....

  • 吉他一路

  • GUITAR ALL THE WAY

    VIOLIN IS FOR GAYS

  • Who is the violinist???

  • violin has soothing effect and guitar has rocking .both are good when individual moods are required

  • what is the song

  • Awesome!!!!

  • For anyone denying that violin is FAR more complex, check a very scientific approach... google "Why is the violin so hard to play" and read the article...

BTW, such complexity is not useless, it gives you far more potential of being musically expressive than any more 'linear' instrument like guitar or piano.... that's why the violin is the king of the instruments in classical music and can be used succesfully in any genre by skilled enough violinists....

  • @dartherus as far as i know i have been playing guitar and violin for 3 years and i think both instruments are hard only if you dont have the music in you.I choose guitar because it's more versatile imo...

  • sounds like someone cant play guitar : (

  • @dartherus saying linear to guitar and violin as far more complexed. has violin changed much in terms of music in the past decades? how much has the guitar changed? in 30yrs there are more genres/sub-genres of music played in guitar than in violin. ofcourse, everyone always compare 1 genre to a violin. violin harder to learn but guitar is harder to master. try mastering each genre's, theory and techniques guitar can offer, it's not easy as you think.

  • @ayawlex How sure are you tha tviolin is harder only at the begining? just because there are more genres of POPULAR music for the guitar?

Don't get confused, most of the masses have no musical education, so they end up with popular music, cause it's easier to udnerstand and appreciate. Complex music is not that easy, that's why fewer people appreciate it.

It's like saying Madonna is a better single than Monserrat Caballé, just because she's more popular.

  • @dartherus why would you wanna compare madonna to monserrat caballe? sure you know better composers than that. as for the guitar yes it's easy to learn but hard to master, and also the fact that there are more creativity in guitar says it so much. :) btw, even metal people know how to read notes (not everyone) but the metal greats. and the fact they have to play a violin song in a guitar makes it challenging. check some songs like paganini's or antonio vivaldi's played in metal

  • @dartherus though jazz or classical would be a better comparison for hard complex guitar composition. just because you use a bow and fretless (there are fretless guitars too) doesn't mean guitar players don't have any music background :P

  • @ayawlex where did I say all guitar players don't have music education? I'm talking about AUDIENCE....

Non-educated audience prefer popular music, and guitar is preferred for such low-level complexity music, because it's easier.

Classical music is the most complex genre BY FAR, far ahead Jazz, and there the violin is the king of instruments, the instrument that most can sound like a human voice, the insturment that has more sheet music, both quanitty and quality advantage over guitar.

  • @dartherus You obviously haven't listened to classical guitar ever in your life, do yourself a favor and search up La Catedral by Agustin Barrios 3rd movement. Or perhaps you'd like to hear Paganini's Caprice 24 played on guitar? Yeah, easy my ass.

  • @IMRezpected Of course I´ve listened classical guitar, and it can become very complex, however, violin is even more complex, it´s scientifically explained in the article, did you read it?

And even in classical music, it´s faster to start in guitar than in violin, because it´s less difficult. Playing the violin is a cognitive nightmare, anyone playing BOTH instruments at similar level in classical music can confirm you that. It´s too obvious to see, again read the article for a start.

  • @dartherus I happen to play violin as well, and I agree it's an absolute nightmare in the beginning when one is starting . After that ,however, achieving mastery of either of the instruments (guitar or violin) is the real nightmare. To be completely honest, in my opinion guitar is more difficult to play well; any idiot can grab a guitar and play a few chords but actually playing competently requires great skill, and a plethora of hours dedicated to the practice of the instrument.

  • @IMRezpected Post your videos of yourself playing violin and guitar. If you say achieving mastery violin is less complex than guitar, you should have a master level in violin isn't it?

If you have not achieved real mastery in violin, how can you know that guitar is more complex at master level? Could you explain us?

  • @dartherus I haven't achieved master level in either instrument, but I'm at about the same level in each at the moment, and I find guitar to be much more complex. You don't sound like you play both instruments, and I can almost be certain you have not achieved mastery of the violin (I assume you're a violinist). That is why my opinion holds much more value than yours with respect to the aforementioned topic.

  • @IMRezpected I showed you a SCIENTIFIC research on the subject, explaining why the violin is far more complex than guitar or piano.

In your intermediate level, you made a statement, in my case, it wasn't a personal statement, it is a scientific and serious research. At least tell us, DID YOU READ IT? DID YOU UNDERSTAND IT?

And in master levels, even Jascha Heifetz, would always say violin was extremely complex, and you, an amateur, say it's not that complex, see the difference?

  • @dartherus Listen buddy, you're starting to piss me off and there are many reasons for that. 1, you're a giant hypocrite 'I provided scientific facts, I'm not opinionated or biased', yes you fucking are. You provide me with what you call "evidence", from questionable sources, then give me shit for questioning them; you are so fucking self-centered thinking everyone gives a shit about our discussion "At least tell US", you are not a fucking group of people, stop pluralizing your pompous self.

  • @IMRezpected "from questionable sources" I could care less if you're pissed off, but at least READ, can you? are you able to understand a SCIENTIFIC articile? Did you read about the authors and their backgrounds? Are you able to THINK before writing?

  • @dartherus I could care less about the author's/authors' backgrounds if all they do is write shit, and they are people whose bias is extremely blatant.

  • @IMRezpected The original scientific article wasn't offensive at all, from what I read, the math and physics used there were correct. If you think the article is wrong, you should present a research that would prove such article as false.

  • @cjribera Sir, with all due respect, you are a youtube commentator, and as a result of that, you give up any credentials you may have to evaluate the mathematics and/or physics of anything without uploaded videos that would prove your competency in these fields. This is not mean to offend; the reason is simply because most people who comment on youtube are not qualified to evaluate math or physics at the level of this article.

  • @IMRezpected Dear sir, no offense, I'm a youtube commentator, but I did study an Engineering career at college, and I had enough math & physics to understand such article. However, if you find inaccuracies and wrong concepts there, perhaps you could explain us so we can understand what we miss. More important, you could write to the authors, so they fix the article, or publish your own article yourself. That would be a really constructive way to deal with this issue, don't you think? Regards.

  • @dartherus (Continuation)... And you have the audacity to say you're not opinionated or biased? All you fucking do is make assumptions based on bias, "Even Jascha Heifetz, WOULD always say violin was extremely complex", yeah would, I don't care what she WOULD say. Also, when did I say violin wasn't complex, of course it is! I'm just saying it's not MORE complex, something you fail to grasp. I think the violinists of the world are rather ashamed to have you in their ranks (me included)...

  • @dartherus Continuation... Musicians should not be arrogant, or act derisively to other musicians, shame on you, SHAME ON YOU.

  • @IMRezpected you're the one acting arrogant, saying violin is not that complex, when even the world masters say it's extremely complex.

    .

And again, there's a SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION, not a personal statement like you do, of why the violin is more complex than guitar or piano.

    .

Why you can't handle reality? why everything has to be with the 'politically correct' crap? Not everything is equal, Classical music is more complex than any other genre, violin is more complex than other instruments.

  • @dartherus DID YOU FUCKING READ THE COMMENT YOU'RE REPLYING TO!!!! I SAID THE VIOLIN WAS COMPLEX, JUST NOT AS MORE THAN ANY OTHER INSTRUMENT. Every instrument has complexity on their own right, saying one is more complex than the other is childish. How do you even quantify complexity? And yes I find it difficult to understand a scientific article, when it's contents have no factual basis at all. That's why it's made by questionable sources.

  • @dartherus I don't know man, Classical guitar is pretty damn complex sometimes.

  • @dartherus piano is "linear" but guitar..... have you heard about bendings? come on....

  • @dartherus in my opinion i like the guitar which is why i like to play it but violin being useless isnt exactly correct i like violin but i prefer guitar

  • @dartherus Why have you posted this comment on every violin vs guitar page on youtube. your only doing this because you play violin and you are insecure about your instrument lol and guitar isn't linear you can bend on a guitar, hammer on etc.

  • @dartherus Being more musically expressive requires more complexity? Are you kidding me? Some of the best songs ever written are dead easy to play. I'd say guitar is much more expressive than violin. Here's why... It's called the poor mans instrument for a reason... Because anybody can pick it up and play, which allows people to express themselves however they please without any training.

  • @KramerPacer83 google "The myth of classical music superiority" and check the final comments, it's too loing to explain here, but there is a very detailed explanation.

  • @dartherus With all due respect, I'm going to have to disagree regardless of what anyone says. Music is an art. A part of us being human. It allows us to express ourselves in ways words cannot (Cheesy I know). Studying it scientifically is perfectly fine, however it's wrong to claim one instrument is better than another instrument and call it the truth. I can feel much more out of a guitar than a violin has ever done for me. Vise/versa can be said about the other people. It's just music :)

  • @KramerPacer83 The scientific research didn't mess up with the art part, just the technical and scientific part, did you read it? Why can some instruments be more complex than others? is it there a 'law' that forbids it?

    .

Same with music as art, would you say commercial pop music is as artistic as good classical music? Would you say Britney Spears is as good musician as Mozart was?

Being 'politically correct' has a limit, IMO. Not everything is equal, as many try to imply in a simplistic way.

  • @dartherus I'll check it out. I don't doubt that some instruments are more complex than others (Kazoo vs. Orpharion), but instruments are a way of expressing ones self. Brittany Spears is told what to sing and write whereas Mozart did it from scratch. There is no competition between creation and regurgitation. But as I said, just because an instrument is more complex doesn't mean it's more emotional. I prefer David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) over electric violinist Ed Alleyen-Johnson (Check Ed out) :)

  • @KramerPacer83 I went to extreme to give EXAMPLE SCENARIOS. Not everything is equal, there are musicians people that are better than others, the same way there are instruments more complex than others.

And music, it's another issue, a person without real musical knowledge, it's unlikely to understand the power of classical music. That's why for music sales, simple music sells better, cause such music is for the masses and profit. Violin can be appreciated at full when you really know music.

  • The two chorded musical instruments that can paly any kind of music battle which is the best! Which one is going to win? You decide!

  • slash impersonator

  • awesome

  • Haha, owned by violon :D

  • the beginning was the best

  • not bad

  • Is the guitarist trying to pull off slash?

    Nice skills though.

  • that violinist must have sold his soul to the devil the guitarist is good as well

  • i think violin won based on the difficulty of what they do with not having frets and a lot more things that can go wrong.

  • guitar is great but violin wins by a long shot. though i do prefer they just get alone and play together, the San Fransisco Orchestra playing with Metallica and of course the Trans Siberian Orchestra have both taught me that it is pure awesomeness when the two combine ^.^

  • its that slash?

AWSOME but ill go with violin

  • I prefer the combo of Violin and Guitar.

  • i'd prefer the violin =)

  • Fuck Yeah! Awesome video!

  • both rocked but the i think the guitar is more versatile than the violin

  • you think there's a way to get sheet music for this??

  • yeah,it isn`t slash,if it were he would stink

  • This is blutty cool... Im still training my guitar solo skills, and soon when I'm good enough, gonna make an video of me vs my friends piano skills!

  • what was that song.

  • slash¿¿¿ WOW awesome

  • oh kool!! an awsome violinist and a slash dude!!! PERFICT!!!!

  • I say both win because both RULE!!!

  • ok

BB King whit 40 years old in the guitar

    so

who in the violin to battle the king?

  • Dude that ain't slash, but he had skills

  • the fast violin sounds like dolphins...

    im really high...

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • violins rocked this one!!!!!

  • holy flying vaginas that was hott!

  • Comment removed

  • guitar takes more skill and you get to play more beats other than just rock, either way i play violin and guitar

  • vionlin FTW

  • i say the violin wins

  • what is that song!?

  • Just one question: What IS that tune? I really like it.

  • w t f

  • cool other than the dancers that looked like really big faggets haha

  • now THAT is metal.

  • Fucking sickest thing i've ever seen. It could have done without the dancers in the back, however

  • Wow, that is totally sweet! Very original!

  • omg is that Slash?

  • Very cool!!! Both guitar and violin were awesome!!!

  • That's cute

  • hahahahahaha.... lol!
