Think of this song in terms of the inhabitants of the island it represents. The hard machina machinery are well represented with the clicks and aggressive snaps of synth percussion, while the relaxed rhythm and mellow melody gives the feeling of a warm island.

@malfunkdotink I only partially agree with your statement. I have, in fact, played(and beaten) both games, and find no fault with either one of them. FFX has an amazing storyline that only seems to grow throughout the game, and the soundtrack was just simply beautiful. Even though FFXIII's storyline is very linear at first, it slowly starts to become more diverse and offer more choices as you progress, assuming you've actually progressed thus far. It also has a nice post-game play, unlike FFX.
