I so love this track, it reminds me of Woodstock and Vietnam and again this track was widely used for Peace talks and Obama politics...Buffaloo Springfield died last weekend at 68 in his home, RIP Buffaloo.....
well, im not sure about being a peaceful motherfucker, but the only march ill walk in will be inherently peaceful with no 'anti' connotations. To be angry is never truly productive.
I was responding to zengakuren. I am the most peaceful motherfucker on the planet, until some asshole suggests that me and mine should die because he don't like our thoughts and attitudes.
Oh, ouch, your razor sharp pseudo-intellectual insults wound me so deeply in my dimly lit mind of a caveman that I bleed all over my keyboard as I struggle to find the right words to tell you to
No hands, ma! I never thought I'd See Neil doing a lip sync and it's obvious that he's having fun with the whole thing. Even Stills couldn't help breaking up. Great song, great clip. Thanks!
I am a Hippie, I am a Redneck, I am anti-war, I am a proud military veteran, and fuck the motherfuckin' establishment, particularly if you represent it or it represents you, and you and your fucking ilk can die just anytime your own goddamn selves.
This was the lineup -- with Jim Fielder on bass -- when I experienced my first rock concert in the spring of 1967. The Robbs (who did a terrific version of Eric Andersen's "Violets of Dawn") opened. Then the Springfield played, and they were tight. The Turtles headlined, and they, too, were tight. Drummer Johnny Barbata was an exceptional showman, twirling his sticks above his head as if they were batons. My girlfriend and I had great seats at KRNT Theater, and our tickets cost $4.50 apiece.
bethedolphin, I think because today people volunteerily sign up for the military and aren't drafted is why the mass doesn't protest in the streets more. When peoples kids and brothers were getting drafted (a.k.a. didn't want to go) then people were more vocal against the war.
The bass player is Jim Fielder, later of Blood, Sweat and Tears. Bruce Palmer had been busted and deported to Canada. Jim also played bass on "Everydays" on "Buffalo Springfield Again," and Bruce West played bass on "Bluebird."
IMHO ... When the Fender Twin Reverb first came out, Americans (other than Surf Rockers) didn't truly appreciate the versatility of the amp, but the British sure did, as demonstrated in this performance which utilizes the full capabilities of the reverb and tremolo that the old Twin had to offer without getting sucked into a Ventures "surf" sound. Kudos ot Leo Fender and George Gullerton! ~Troy~
Funny how times change. Founding member Richie Furay (guitarist on the right in the back) is now a Calvary Chapel pastor in Colorado and supports the Iraq War. Good to see that even people heavily involved in the scene grew out of the silliness on the 60's.
I always loved Buffalo Springfield... and still, after all these years, I really enjoy their sound... and the song fits these days just the same as it did during Vietnam... gee... I wonder why that is. D'oh!

But all those proto-Hippies, actual Hippies, and all their anti-war, anti-establishment ilk need to finally smoke their last doobster and pass away.

IMHO Fender showmans were what the big rock guys played. Twins are great but the showman's kicked ass until Beatleboosters came out!

Buffalo Springfield were an American, not a British band. The singer is Stephen Stills. The lead guitarist is Neil Young, who is actually Canadian.
