Side effects and long-term effects of taking Advair/Prednisone/Steroids for Asthma

When comparing steroids, advair is small potatoes compared prednisone. Think about mcg vs mg. Also prednisone has a much greater systemic involvement. Taking them simultaneously is a double whammy!

I have had asthma for 33 years. Im 34. I can NOT sleep. I have been going to bed when the sun is coming up. What a nightmare. I know its from prednisone.  Its been rough. It does work to get you breathing though

25 years old now and been living with asthma. I remember days where I left my advair or maxair inhalers at school when I was a teen. You lay in the floor caughing and hacking till blood comes out of your lungs wishing you didn't forget them. I come from a poor family so I never went to wake my parents up to take me to the hospital. I love to think there is a world where I can take vitamins and all of it goes away. Watch your love ones on Prednisone, the side effects are real peeps just be carful

what did u do to get off of advair, i am 17 and have been using advair for along time

i think it has been 7 years i would like to get off of advair but every time i stop taking it i have realy bad asma problems

@151soccer Use curcumin. In particular, Doctor's Best, Meriva, Phytosome Curcumins. Did wonders for my asthma. But you need to be patient, it takes a month or 2 to kick in.

I just turned 19 and I have had asthma for 10 years. I have to go to the ER 2-3 times a year because of it and I have been incubated once...and I have to say that these medications SAVED me! Even though I still have serious asthma, it reassures me to know that the medications work. I can't get over the side affects like face swelling, hunger, thirst and depression to be able to breath.

I'm twelve years old at the moment. And i was just taken off steriods, and advair. I had been on them for almost 3 1/2 years. I ended up in the hospital roughly 32 times.

I thought it was supposed to work. And my point is, I gained a lot of weight..My mom blamed it on puberty, but i disagree. I gained 32 pounds over the course of prednisone and advair. I also took singular ( if that means anything) I've been working out almost everyday. Nothing seems to work. Any tips?

@EpiclyDone dont think its advair. I would bet big money its the prednisone. I had the same problem. advair has treated me very nicely

I've been taking Advair for a while now and I've never experience any of those problems. Not only has it improved my asthma symptoms by leaps and bounds and the only side effect I've experinced is the occasional minor sore throat.
