I agree with the dislike of machinery in the Final Fantasy and other RPGs. I do like this game but after this with gunswords and and motorcycles and pop singers ruined the series. The three we got here in the states years ago are the only Final Fantasy games I need.

I guess maybe I overreact to alt. spellings of magic, even in games I like ( Morrowind even). Of course, I always liked how 'MagiTek' in the initial translations of FF6 had a very 'trademark' sound to them. "New, from MagiTek!"

I didn't recognize what version this was, so I assumed it was the GBA version, not a fan translation. I was mistaken.

Still, seeing as it's not an official copy of the game, how can you fault me for not recognizing a random fan translation? I didnt get into this for an argument, I was just defending the fact that its NOT the original SNES version that was officially released.

You didn't come to tell me that it's "not the original snes version" as an ACCURATE translation of the Japanese game, it's more "original" than Faux Fantasy 3. You didn't tell me "this isn't the snes one" you told me "It's the GBA one" that's fine, making a mistake. But after I told you it's NOT the GBA version you started arguing with me and telling me you know better than I do what system I'm playing.

"Magic Missile"?! In the original version it was just called "Tek Missile", there was nothing magic (or 'MAJICK') about it. Wow, this GBA translation is horrid. It's ten times more cheesy than the SNES version.

It's not the SNES version, Necro. I'm sorry, but I played that version enough times to know the difference. There are more obvious tip offs other than 'majick'/'Magitek', such as the monster names (Whelk/Ymir and Highway/Repo Man).

Oh and the big "tip offs" that it's not GBA are the lack of the warning health and safety screen, the "published by nintendo" screen, the "square" rather than "square enix" and of course the copyright of 1994 rather than "1994, 2006, 2007" And the title screen is different in the GBA version....

If you really were playing the original SNES version, then you'd know it was released as 'Final Fantasy III' on SNES. Sorry, you're obviously playing a newer version. The translation is completely different than the original SNES game.

Nice tiny runthrough of the beginning, Necro. This is my fave FF as it was my first ever RPG.  Just something about its epic quest that attracted me. After VI, things just went too crazy. Nice job again, man.

I never really cared for VI, either. The only FF game that I can really tolerate is IV. I owned this at one point, played it once, then sold it. And I don't sell games very often.
