So many unbelievable songs. So many. This the tightest most powerful song I've ever heard, since I heard it the first time at age 12. This band is why I am still doing music. 46.
i heard this song again on drumline and went out and bought their greatest hits. truly one of the greatest bands ever. and of course Phillip Bailey with that voice #amazingewf
@TheGummiwurms Not only that but the the album is titled I Am... apparently the poster has pretty serious problems with even the most basic spelling and syntax...?
Well, his nick is "reallassnigga123" - nomen est omen, I guess
A sign of great music. I wonder how many songs today will be posted on the internet in 30 plus years time and sounding as fresh today as it always has! Big chune!
Love me some Earth, Wind and Fire. Grew up listening to them and they still make me want to stop what I'm doing and dance. I guess I should probably get them off my mp3 player, because the cashier at the supermarket thinks I've lost my mind.
earth would rock 18 band members live to these bad ass songs. tight tight tight...... all in unison....... think about it 18 band members in perfect sync. 2 drummers 2 or 3 precussionists........ damn never seen anything like it. Now go tap on that sampler or drum machine little b......!!!!
Yes, the title is "In The Stone," not "I'm The Stone." Also I've always felt that EWF was the greatest self-contained R&B band of their era (circa '74 - circa '85), which was the renaissance era of R&B bands. Many though would cast such a vote to The Commodores. And they both were great of course.
@BartleDoo2009 as a captain of my high school drumline...im insulted that that movie exists, its so unlike what real drumlines are like...and everyone thinks I must love that movie cuz its about some non existent band...fuck that movie and fuck nick cannon..
@WHS11SOP Lol, not really. Stereotype....actually in the rhythm department, My section leader is white, and he has more rhythm then me. This is the reason i suggest that my classmates are diverse in their music. In general, white people have the ability and understanding as the same as black people. Often i see my fellow black students having trouble with music more often then anything. In jazz band, more white set players then black. My point is everyone stuggles with a little rhythm.
@WHS11SOP Instead of making a blatant racist remark, you could have appreciated that kids are being exposed to quality music. You must be inferior in the character department.
Wow! Musicians who could play instruments, read and write music plus read and write in general. Who was on post when artists like this became obsolete and we have since replaced them with the likes of Soulja Boy, Jeezy and Lil' Wayne. Somebody really dropped the ball.
Album is "I am" ... not "Am I." "I am" is the literal translation of "God." Title is "In the Stone." Not "Im the stone." Many believe it refers to the Ten Commandments. As an aside, CBS used to start its NBA telecast w/ this song, circa 1977.

I used to listen to this jam in the late70s, this song was played all the time as a intro for Komo ch4, four most movies.I finely get to hear the full song and it just takes everything way back, earth wind and fire are absolutely identical to none !!!!!! .
i remember being a little girl at the parades for mardi gras, and it seemed as though every high school band played this song...John mc(new orleans) won hands down.
CLASSIC jam!!! To all you saying there's, "Masonic", or, "Illuminati" connections to EW&F: don't get it confused. EW&F has KEMETIC/AFRICAN connections. The Masons & Illuminati co-opted something they did not and STILL DON'T fully understand when they adopted those African symbols!
I think every black college band in the country used this fanfare. We used it at Morgan against Grambling back in '79 except instead of playing the song, we did the fanfare then broke into Boogie Wonderland. Man those were the days.
Coraross2. Correct statement. E, W, F were the best band EVER. Period! Genius of Maurice White with superb vocals....puts everything out there today to shame.
