  • Colts and Colt Cadets played this at DCI World Championships in the parade.

  • this song takes me back to the mid-seventies when i first started grade school

  • @OcarinaBrothers Same with me too! Does every marching band do this song or something?

  • @OcarinaBrothers Nice! I did it too, what instrument you playing?

  • @OcarinaBrothers Me too... weird.

  • Love the song, hate Drumline.

  • The BEST INTRO EVER!!!! To a great song!

  • After Drumline, this became my favorite EWF song.

  • Love me some Earth, Wind and Fire. Grew up listening to them and they still make me want to stop what I'm doing and dance. I guess I should probably get them off my mp3 player, because the cashier at the supermarket thinks I've lost my mind.

  • earth would rock 18 band members live to these bad ass songs. tight tight tight...... all in unison....... think about it 18 band members in perfect sync. 2 drummers 2 or 3 precussionists........ damn never seen anything like it. Now go tap on that sampler or drum machine little b......!!!!

  • Yes, the title is "In The Stone," not "I'm The Stone." Also I've always felt that EWF was the greatest self-contained R&B band of their era (circa '74 - circa '85), which was the renaissance era of R&B bands. Many though would cast such a vote to The Commodores. And they both were great of course.

  • Like this if Drumline brings you here!

  • @everythinggirl94 you know what's stupid? the movie drumline

  • @BartleDoo2009 as a captain of my high school drumline...im insulted that that movie exists, its so unlike what real drumlines are like...and everyone thinks I must love that movie cuz its about some non existent band...fuck that movie and fuck nick cannon..

  • @kook1028 why u mad?

  • @xmuzzyx20 because the movie drumline exists

  • @kook1028 o.o a movie is just a movie , chill out ~ :D .

  • @xmuzzyx20 but when people think that its reality.....thats a problem..

  • @kook1028 true ~

  • @kook1028 first off i agree. Second the schools in that movie do actually exist.

  • @everythinggirl94 the element bought me here. Grew up with EWF

  • @everythinggirl94 Yes but i cant find their video playing 'In The Stone' ='(

  • @everythinggirl94 no, but my drumline did. lol

  • I'm pretty sure, that it's called IN THE STONE.

  • yea....you should probably fix the title to in....since even itunes is telling you in the comment box that it's "In The Stone"

Just incase a thousand people forgot to tell you.

  • It's "In The Stone", not "Im" like the title...

  • bakan esa es la cancion que sale en el comienzo del festival de viña del mar

  • @WHS11SOP Lol, not really. Stereotype....actually in the rhythm department, My section leader is white, and he has more rhythm then me. This is the reason i suggest that my classmates are diverse in their music. In general, white people have the ability and understanding as the same as black people. Often i see my fellow black students having trouble with music more often then anything. In jazz band, more white set players then black. My point is everyone stuggles with a little rhythm.

  • This song is so damn thrown down it's ridiculous.

  • SIMPLY;,.COPY`::&',,PASTE`,,

    SIMPLY'``COPY`::&,,;PASTE:',

  • KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • many a jazz and marching band have performed this,.....POWERFUL.

  • @WHS11SOP Instead of making a blatant racist remark, you could have appreciated that kids are being exposed to quality music. You must be inferior in the character department.

  • You got the title wrong.

"IN THE STONE" from "I AM"

  • this song reminds me of stevie wonder's do i do

  • Wow! Musicians who could play instruments, read and write music plus read and write in general. Who was on post when artists like this became obsolete and we have since replaced them with the likes of Soulja Boy, Jeezy and Lil' Wayne. Somebody really dropped the ball.

  • The Greatest Band Of All Time, Earth, Wind & Fire.

  • what kind of people would dislke this song, this song is absolutely amazing

  • Wow. The artist in the 70's was ON IT!!!!!

    Keep it conscious.

  • I love this song!!! Excellent musicians, singers and lyrics

  • I love this song!!! Excellent musicians and singers

  • if you need some positivity in your life...play this song...LOUD

  • Album is "I am" ... not "Am I." "I am" is the literal translation of "God." Title is "In the Stone." Not "Im the stone." Many believe it refers to the Ten Commandments. As an aside, CBS used to start its NBA telecast w/ this song, circa 1977.

  • In the stone dumb ass

  • how the crap did 3 people thumb down this song?

  • @wasatchwindows thats what i wanna know they must have been born in the 90"s lol

  • Marching and pep bands are all fun and good, just make sure you've seen the Bridgemen's rendition. They sure did EWF justice.

  • I posted a link of this video on my fb page, and NO ONE replied.

I love this song, and I llove most of EWF's work. You just can't beat the horns. Maybe a lot of musicians appreciate EWF--I was a percussionist in my high school marching band some time ago, but unfortunately, we didn't get to play this song. We did the classic stuff like "Stars and Stripes Forvever"...! ):

  • HBCU's play this all the time but NEVER listen to the lyrics. The Elements are telling us OUR story is written in the stone. Black man you are GOD and Black woman you are the GODDESS. That will NEVER change. Thanks for the post.

  • haha one of my favorite jamss.<3

  • I used to listen to this jam in the late70s, this song was played all the time as a intro for Komo ch4, four most movies.I finely get to hear the full song and it just takes everything way back, earth wind and fire are absolutely identical to none !!!!!! .

  • wow they dont make music like they used to

  • this was one of my first pep tunes i had to learn.

  • The horn intro is actually magnificent, and the subject matter is deeeeeep, man. I honestly feel the touch of God when I listen to this...

  • i can play this song with my trumpet :o

  • There's not a high school or college band that didn't play this song at some point and that's it's greatest testimony of greatness.

  • classic hit.uapb band blowed this on us .and we played this on the field before.

  • if this song introduces every High School band kid to the wonders of E,W&F- so be it

  • @kiaoraguy DRUMLINE MOVIE

  • i remember being a little girl at the parades for mardi gras, and it seemed as though every high school band played this song...John mc(new orleans) won hands down.

  • CLASSIC jam!!! To all you saying there's, "Masonic", or, "Illuminati" connections to EW&F: don't get it confused. EW&F has KEMETIC/AFRICAN connections. The Masons & Illuminati co-opted something they did not and STILL DON'T fully understand when they adopted those African symbols!

  • @chj2 - AMEN!

  • I think every black college band in the country used this fanfare. We used it at Morgan against Grambling back in '79 except instead of playing the song, we did the fanfare then broke into Boogie Wonderland. Man those were the days.

  • My college band-Albany State University played this and they were so good!!! Drum Majors Sky and Shine were the best!!!! Miss college so much!!!

  • We played this my Freshman and Senior year when I was in Marching Band. I loved playing this! Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Deep and Many Thanks for The Post ♪♫•*¨*•.¸¸!!

  • Am I the only one who noticed it says "I'M the stone"?

  • @funkadelikbob

I noticed, I also noticed he has the album title in reverse

  • I love this song

  • One person needs to be shot...

  • theeee Best !

  • I love listening to the basslines to Earth Wind and Fire songs!

  • thank goodness I get to play this!!!!

  • Can't beat this!!!

  • drumline!

  • One best of all time! It a good thing my cousin let me have that album in the late 80's or early 90's as he store in the closet with other albums!

  • Coraross2. Correct statement. E, W, F were the best band EVER. Period! Genius of Maurice White with superb vocals....puts everything out there today to shame.

  • any way i can get an instrumental of this great song

  • We played this song when I was in the ECU marching band. Everytime I hear it I remember my part and hear it above the rest. It is a great song.

  • @ncfreewill i wish my marching band did this song during a halftime show. it would be soo cool.

  • now this is music! first heard this in Drumline i love it!!

  • ummm its called in the stone o.o

  • The intro is downright AMAZING.

  • Hey...I love your name, "reallassnigga123". It's so cute!

  • Yeah Kirkingog! Love that movie and this song!!!

  • Recall This Jam From The Movie "DRUM LINE.' When The Band Leader Was Try"N To Teach His Students What REAL MUSIC Was Like! He Couldn't Have Used A Better Example Than The Elements!

  • @kirkindog I love that scene from "Drumline." You're right -- the Elements were an excellent example.

  • @kirkindog yeah, that right. I've seen that movie 'bout 11 times. And i still love it :D. there is another version to. Played by a dutch marching band

  • "Horn" music like this from the '70s and early '80s is the best music there ever was. Hands down. The crap today is exactly that - CRAP. Music like this is how blacks and whites made it through difficult times together!!

  • @rharrill01

actually my personal experience about this music helping blacks and whites make it through difficult times together differs from yours

i was the only white EWF fan at my school, it was considered quite nonconformist to be into "soul" music

of course, that was south carolina in the 70's, things are probably different/better/worse now - but i definitely remember catching some slack for talking about these guys

then September came out - and all of a sudden they were cool

  • one of my all time favorites back in high school driving my car singing at the top of my lungs people looking at me like i was crazy i'd only sing harder louder you gotta understand i grew up in a poduck willy lump lump country fuck back woods town and im white but absolutely love motown and r&b jazz blues smoothjazz disco com on people music is colorless can i get a witness!!!!

  • Isn't funny how we like the music from when we were young and we say the music they play now sucks , didn't our parents say the same to us? But it's hard to beat music from the late 70's to the 80's

  • @kimchidawg Yeah, I hate my music and current music will probably not have the same effect.

    Beatles <3

  • @kimchidawg The reason that they say that is because all our parents listen to is top forty and think that that stuff is what we all listen to, when they neglect to listen to bands that will actually be remembered.

  • @kimchidawg Yeah, but the music they play now actually does suck. And I'm a teenager!!!! All they do is swear and talk about sex, drugs, or how they abuse their woman.

  • @crazy0muggle0the03rd i completely agree. Our generations music is jus a waste of time.

  • @soulgirlKC AMEN TO THAT!!!!!

  • BAMF

  • The best....

  • yes...i am the stone

  • This was God's Personal Band someone said...I believe it because Love is Written in the Stone...
