the eee1000 is better than the 901 because it has a hard drive better battery and larger screen so yes it is

i guess hard drive is a disadvantage ( slower, makes noise, reduces the battery life, heavier)

Very accurate. Although if you are planning on doing a lot more writing than reading or if the price is a huge deal for you, the HDD might still be better.
