I'm not sure I get it. what, exactly, does this process consist of and how do you mean by "how it was originally mixed"?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that figured this out. I remember a long time ago I was messing with audacity and I learned how to do this. One night, several months later, I was listening to my iPod in bed and I rolled over. My headphones disconnected slightly, and it produced the same effect. Recently, I've been doing this to a lot of songs.
