non the less, this is an very interesting issue!

a giyanggiyang instrument seem to be a mixture of a mago an yidaki to me. all in all. its an atypical mago, cause of the size. but the playing style is similar (blowed cheeks) except the toot! but it (the toot) isnt that hard and fast as in yidaki playing.

I just would like to know if Darryl is refering to ownership or songs rather than playing styles. I have understand that traditional songs are individually/family/clan owned and only have the right to perform them...

What I have understood is that one does not play Mago just for fun - the mago playing is always related to traditional songs (the rythm is from from traditional song). And if traditional songs are owned therefore playing someone other owned song is considerred stealing.

Am I totally lost hear Guan? Or is this just sematics?
