hey i was just wondering if you could explain this a bit better? im doing it for a school assessment but im not to clear on how it works. itd be great if you got back to me. thanks, lara.
Some math dood way back in the day figured out that 2n/c=pi. Were n=number of times the objest is tossed and c=the number of times that the object crossed the line. The distence between the lines must be the langth of the object thrown. So the object that is used dose not realy matter but I think that it is suposed to be a stick like object. The more you through the closer to pi you will get. Also if you drop them from above I think you may get better results but use somthing smaller.
I prefer getting the diameter by the circumference

Using probabilities to calculate pi takes so long... It would have to be one of the slowest ways to do so :D

Tis a truly fascinating experiment indeed

thanks for that, but why does it equal pi? we did it and it got a fair approximation, but we don't know why. do you?

i dont understand how throwing things onto lines can work out to be pi

Yeah the origional experement was done with sewing needles done at a 3ft height. I just thought td be fun throwing hotdogs about

how many lines should you have on the ground?
sunneh300194 2 years ago
It doesn't specify how many
how far do you think you can toss? just put them out a good bit
