The anaconda only coils because it is trying to swim away and stuff. But the retic was really attacking Austin. It is more muscular than the Anaconda and kept lunging at him. It would also coil and bit him in the arm.

What actually happens is he jumps in the water to try and capture the snake. The snake was just trying to get away. It wasn't attacking him. He nearly got killed because he was struggling with the snake in deep water. If he died, it would have been by drowning, not because the snake was trying to kill him.

It's just been edited. He actually found the snake in the wild not captive like some ppl say, but they put the snake out. He usually has 2 cameramen, but they have 3 here I think, one filming underwater, and the other two filming outside. Austin also experimented with time slice/bullet time here.

While the photos appear to be stills from video, Austin films or directs the filming as he did with several documentaries.
