It's sad for me to read coments like "it's too dramatic, too wagnerian", I understand that everyone have their own opinion, one thing it's an opinion and other its made an afirmation about how the lied have to be interpreted, My teacher its a liedereist and she have told me, that the most important thing on lied is the musical expression otherweise, don't forget that in 1900 the vocal technique was really different about the technique that we have now. The old school singers need respect
@Mangiare1 that's contradictory. to enjoy, you HAVE to be a critic.
and if you're saying to people "stop criticizing" (as in "stop finding faults"), well, you can't control how another person's brain responds to things, unless you take a lot of time with one person.
If you have the answer, then TEACH. Teach these people with whom you are impatient how to think better. Educate, don't castigate.
Another new name to me. The coloring is perfect for this. The rubato at the end is a bit much for me, but just a small bit. However, I must say I do not care for the orchestration. I believe the percussive nature of the piano provides a more aural portrayal of the spinning wheel, but that's just my opinion. Again, thanks for introducing me to another artist I hope to learn more about.
Wow - the voice is perfect for this lied - she keeps the tautness throughout in a most effective way - best I have heard of this lieder; definitely in the best German style of vocal production shared by Schwarzkopf et al.
She died when only 33 of cancer. This beautiful (looks and voice) singer would have surely developed further and become more famous. The singing was of quite a different style then.
Seinemeyer was a truly expressive, soulful singer with a very beautiful voice and excellent technique, who should be much better known. Deserves a place on the list for sure.
I simply thank you for allowing to "meet" this great singer.
It's a great voice, so expressive.
I noticed a kind of flourishes in the high notes at the end of the lied which I am not used to listen to today and that maybe are not in the mood of the lied, but her execution gave me strong shrivers, a real thrill. Once again thanks.
META SEINEMEYER (September 5, 1895, Berlin - August 19, 1929, Dresden) was a German opera star with an exceptionally fine spinto soprano voice.
MOLTO BELLO!!! Thank you for sharing this video.

I don't like this version. Far too overacted and heavy. It sounds Wagnerian.

to marvel at Seinemeyer's iconic performance. Thank you for posting and to

This is a singer totally new to me and a delightful discovery--a beautiful timbre obvious even with the older recording technology.

A true great and stikk unknown to many. One can only imagine what she would have achieved if she had lived a full life.
