11th doctor is my least favourite. It's sort of become the "Time-Travelling Adventures of the superalien and his sexy human companion" instead of a widely- appealing series that used time-travel cleverly, to enable adventures in creative places and times. Now the time travel element is being worked to death and the Doctor is the focus of most of the plots. Also, EVERY SINGLE ALIEN THE ELEVENTH DOCTOR HAS ENCOUNTERED SO FAR HAS BEEN THE LAST OF ITS KIND. Ugh.

@TheSevenCamels Yeah theyve driven that plot point into thje ground havent they, glad u highlighted it, I was finding it nauseating too, they seem to have forgotten what understatement is, if your going to use the pathos of lonelienss for one aline that doesnt mean u can do it for them all

If he's a timelord travelling backwards and forwards through time, then why on earth doesn't he get younger and older? and why does he keep turning into a completely different person? Surely, if you were travelling through time you would be the same person only a younger or older version of yourself. It's really pathetic.

You don't get older and younger because each individual has a personal timeline. I recommend you watch the documentary "Steven Hawking's Universe". Top physicists have more authority than me on the issue.

As for the 13 lives thing, he's a different species, what does it matter?

@Feisty1967 The process that he goes through isn't aging, it's regeneration, which obviously wouldn't apply to humans. It has nothing to do with the time travel itself-- the only relation would be that his species /can/ time travel.

@rockkidmetal Cos in the original the stories moved slower and it was a different time, in the 60s they didnt have exececutives and trendy people with ponytails harping on about sex and jump cuts every five minutes, stories developed more like old plays and time was allowed for scenes to develop. Nowadays television is very fast paced and the old method of storytelling no longer has a place so they compacted all those elelments of the serials that use to drag on forever

Yeah, because there was like a, nine year stop of making Doctor Who between 1996 - 2005. So if that stop wasn't there Ecclston, Tennant, and Smith woulden't have ever been the doctor

1989-2005 for the actual show itself. Sylvester McCoy, had the show kept running, probably would have regenerated around 1991. If Who had continued, there would be Who now :)

I'm looking to watch doctor who and I want some really good cheesy sci fi. I don't want to watch super early ones, like the 60's, but I do want to have some continuity. What box set do you recommend I get.

Hmm... I haven't seen all the episodes myself, but I might be able to help. Everyone says 4th Doctor, but 5th and 7th were also pretty good in my opinion. I'm not familiar with the box sets, so I don't know which exact one to get, but anything with 4th, 5th and 7th. I would personally recommend 7th, as I think he was one of the best plus he's the most recent of old Who, which I think is pretty good, but that's my opinion. Good luck!

well with cgi u dont need him personally, you can just use the movie as the template to do a regen. i wish they had done it cuz it is like a gap in the doctor who timeline

Yeah, but Doctor Who's not a huge user of CGI - that's what makes it Who.

Aah, I don't realy care about the quality, nor did I notice. And as for the music... Meh, at least it's Doctor who music, and I quite like the Peter Howell theme.

It may not be the best, but I've seen much worse.

I agree (maybe not on the sexy part). But he has a bit of a career ahead of him, and I don't think he wants to get forver branded as The Doctor and only The Doctor.
