Pardon me, as I know people mean well, but don't you realize you are violating Andrea Morricone's copyrights for composing what is one of the most beautiful songs, imo, composed in the past century? I understand that people want the sheet music to play this masterpiece, yet the composer is being denied his rightful rewards for his creativity and skill. To me it doesn't seem right.

If you're saying that you used the original document to scan it into a music composition program, then yes, you're breaking the law.

Unless it's public domain (and it's not) you don't have the right to give it out for free.

@lucidopianoforte It's not as if typing it up makes it yours. You bought some "conversion" software? The law is a lot tighter on these things than you think. EVEN IF you had arranged this, you'd still have to get permission do do something with it. Furthermore, some of the music business is build off of the wear-and-tear of music - lost parts, stained pages, etc. By providing a free digital copy online, you're denying the publisher, and therefore the musician/composer of part of their money.

It seems you're not really familiar as to how an industry works, there have been cases where a recording artist had such a bad legal arrangement that they received a very small portion of the revenues (ex.TLC,Billy Joel).Even if that is not the case,a large portion still goes to other people in the industry's production chain,and the biggest piece of the pie goes to some corporate boss that has nothing to do with the artistic process.

But it seems to me that without the ability to control publication of his music, Morricone is losing his rights to the sheet music publishing. He is the composer that created the music. Because of copyright law and generally the way the business works, we are heading towards the promotion of corporate musical prefabricated packages, instead of having a healthy and fertile new artist base from which good quality music can emerge.Because of copyright, music corporations get more powerful and they decide what's on the market (and I don't need to remind you of what crap that has created),instead of the artists.

@dixxjamm - MJ paid good money for the Publishing Rights. The Beatles sold them. Done deal.That music is a business is not exactly a revelation. But composers need to eat, too. Intellectual copyright laws are challenged by sampling and file sharing, which I think are wrong. And I am a musician and compose. I don't care for the Britney Spears 'music' or much rap myself. But many people think file sharing is not a big deal. I do. ''nuff said. Do what you want - it's your conscience...

@guitargod,If I knew that those bucks that I pay for sheet music would go to the artist,minus the printing costs,I would gladly pay it.But that is generally not the case,and you know it. As for LP's,well,it's all down to the contracts,some get good deals,some don't,but it's the corporations that have the upper hand,they are the business people,not the artist.As for my conscience regarding copyright laws,IF I break them,it would be 100% clear,thinking about WHO I'm actually predominantly fooling.
