No female singer, during the years of peace, ever captured the heart of the Nation like Ruby, but, dispite her stardom, she remained a simple wee lass from the Donegall Rd, Belfast, RIP Gentle Lady.
i am a big fan of ruby and write to local radio stations to get her records played. having said that i am entitled to say it is sad to see the lovely lady like that and i stand by my comment. so tatisteach2 dont be so precious we are all entitled to a point of view.
Haha! i didnt know people would still know this lady! my granny used to know a lady called marie, who used to play the piano on stage for ruby, and they where good friends! people stop mean comments!
The Poor Old Darling, I Think It's A Little Unfair That Most Comments On This Video Are Unkind To Ruby. I Love Ruby Murray And I Love Her Music And I Still Would Have Payed To See Her In Concert If I Had The Chance. Who Cares If She Is Not As She Used To Be, She Was Still A Lovely Lady And I Say Be Kind To Her Memory And Show Her Some Respect And Don't Be So Judgemental. Shame On You Fickle People. Wherever You Are Now Ruby GOD BLESS YOU!
I am from Northern Ireland too. So what? She was a drunk - the alcohol destroyed her talent and drove her to an early grave. Just like George Best. Lets not forget the facts here.
I understand what you're saying, but she is older, and maybe she did drink too much. However, having said that, I think this is a really touching performance and her voice, although weaker, is unmistakable. She must have been terrified to do this after so many years and my heart goes out to her. God bless you Ruby.

Yes you can hear her voice here had faded from its brilliance....very sad, but I still love her singing. Her Anthology CD is tops.

Go to the channel of "gramophoneshane" and listen to that version of Ruby singing "Softly softly" and I think you will have the answer.
