No, no it can't. Besides, a hardcore addict isn't only playing WoW. There's also the fact that a laptop has very limited design, because it's for mobility, not gaming. The keys feel all wrong, it's small, and a laptop mouse is nothing compared to my MX1000 logitech laser.
@barsa527 Laptops are not configured with a good interface in mind. It's for business use. That's the idea. Mobility, professional management and convenience.
If you play games on a laptop, it's because you simply don't have a desktop for that purpose. You don't have a dedicated gaming platform, you just use the same laptop you were using for basic applications.
Really, I'm talking about gaming in general, not just WoW. Your laptop might run it, but try running Crysis and then we will talk.
I've never used my laptop for "business use". I'm not sure where you are coming up with the silly ideas of "basic applications". My laptop does everything I want it to do including gaming. Alienware makes some of the best computers in the world.
@barsa527 And how much was your laptop? If yours can run anything at high graphical settings (necessary to be considered a hardcore gamer) then what you paid would be almost double what I'd need to get the same out of a desktop pc.
So for that reason alone, laptop is not designed with gaming in mind. It's not suited towards that even though with a lot of money it can do well too.

No, no it can't. Besides, a hardcore addict isn't only playing WoW. There's also the fact that a laptop has very limited design, because it's for mobility, not gaming. The keys feel all wrong, it's small, and a laptop mouse is nothing compared to my MX1000 logitech laser.

@barsa527 Laptops are not configured with a good interface in mind. It's for business use. That's the idea. Mobility, professional management and convenience.
If you play games on a laptop, it's because you simply don't have a desktop for that purpose. You don't have a dedicated gaming platform, you just use the same laptop you were using for basic applications.
Really, I'm talking about gaming in general, not just WoW. Your laptop might run it, but try running Crysis and then we will talk.

I've never used my laptop for "business use". I'm not sure where you are coming up with the silly ideas of "basic applications". My laptop does everything I want it to do including gaming. Alienware makes some of the best computers in the world.

@barsa527 And how much was your laptop? If yours can run anything at high graphical settings (necessary to be considered a hardcore gamer) then what you paid would be almost double what I'd need to get the same out of a desktop pc.
So for that reason alone, laptop is not designed with gaming in mind. It's not suited towards that even though with a lot of money it can do well too.

My point is simple, someone who truly wants to play all types of games and is a serious gamer would do best to get a desktop PC, if nothing more than for the fact that you save a ton of money by doing so.
