@busog97641 Hehe I think it's for emergency fire fighting access to the tunnel. There was a fire hydrant there, and the concrete barrier looks like it has a hinge so it can swing open. I bet they could get rescue equipment down the bike path, it's certainly wide enough. The path links up to the regular street network just above this as well
How windy was it on the bridge? You should head down to Astoria Oregon and video cycling across the Astoria Bridge!

@adventuresincycling It wasn't windy at all when I was on it. I just looked up the bridge in Astoria on Google Streetview, looks pretty nice as well!

Nice ride with lovely scenery...I have no idea why, but I can't stand crossing bridges. I have a weird fear about falling over the railing :p

Thank you so much for sharing this ride. Save for the I90 the scenery was indeed nice.

Hey Alex, did you cycle down to Seattle, from BC, or was that just an one-off?
busog97641 6 months ago
@busog97641 Nope, took the Amtrak train then rented a bike in downtown seattle and rode it out there
alexwarrior1 6 months ago
@alexwarrior1 can't you take your bike for $8 on Amtrak?

@Gromitdog1 Haha yeah, but that's too much effort for me... I'm lazy.
