  • The overarching mentality of most of these posts is: I hate/don't respect cops, I'm never responsible for dangerous or illegal acts while on my bike, and THEY were in the wrong not me. Self-willed attitudes on a collision course with authority figures! Back in the day I had to endure people throwing beer bottles at me, jeers, and trying to clip me even on the road shoulder while I spun. We've come a long way... so don't fuck this up for us all. Asshole cops or or not. Use your fucking head.

  • I HATE PIMA COUNTY THEY KILLED MY DOG SUKI #297007 ON 1/5/2011

  • I HATE TUCSON COPS!!! BUNCH OF FUCKING ASSHOLES!!!

  • 300 meters.!!!!! you cant stop a pro bike in 900ft!!!!!

    wow. or go around

  • Bikes R popular in Tucson. Mystifying since the temp in the summer is the same as what you'd find in your oven. A biker in Tucson has an extraordinary amount of arrogance & self importance due to the fact nothing else on the road is more critical than them keeping up their speed & their line in road. A misconception among cyclists is that they have as much right to the road as autos, even tho they pay no registration, & don't have to meet insurance requirements should they cause an accident.

  • that is not the only place, where cops try to murder cyclists,Palm Beach County, Florida have done it several times, but they are above the law, they ticketed the guys who complained and threaten to be taken to jail if they kept on talking

  • Egads. Did the riders get the badge number of that officer? That is the first thing I would have done. I hate cops with a passion. Always have, always will. Ok, i'm being a bit unfair. There are a few good cops out there, but I say a majority, 75% of so, are terrible human beings, corrupt, and they all have a superiority complex attitude to some degree.

  • Maybe the world does need a severe Depression so we can refocus on what is important. Police officers are Public Servants, as are every other Government employee. They work for us, we the people and if they don't understand the concept of being allowed to be our servant then fire their ass and let them work in the private sector.

  • Or just just have them ride single file along the roadside, that would have probably done the trick. LOL

  • People in Pima County are pencil neck dumb shits that drive like shit! Including the idiot cops!

  • It's so dangerous to ride a bike on the streets. I would love to do it, but there's no way that I can obey the same laws as cars. I'm little and vulnerable; they are big and fast. I ride on the sidewalks and politely get off my bike well before I meet a pedestrian and walk my bike. We need bike lanes, and ones that are about as wide as a car lane. Perhaps with the collapse of the economy we'll see more bikes and fewer cars.

  • Actually, if a cop has his emergency lights on and is passing you on a bike, you must pull over to the side and stop. The same rule as when you are in a car. Now, even if you didn't stop, the cop shouldn't have made a close call and swerve into a group of cyclists.

  • Good thats what you get for messing with the law! you guys are always in the way of everyone! so get out the way and stop complaining! he had his lights on! that means move!

  • you guys seem like the "though guys/bad guys" here. I would never threaten to RUN OVER someone with my car. How Ridiculous. Grow up and behave like adults.

  • hese cyclists are the BAD GUYS. They throw water bottles at motored bike riders. They are thugs

  • throw it back and tell them "hey you dropped this". they're probably just jealous that they have to pedal and you don't. By the way do you use an electric bike or gas? I have a cheapo chinese kit

  • What is all this garbage about morning commute and rush hour? This is a weekend morning ride.

At least we see that some charges have been filed.

  • It's an on-going problem in Tucson with certain large groups of bicyclists that think the law does not apply to them. This time it was on Mission Road on a Saturday. Next time it will be somewhere else. It's bullshit. I hope they all get cited.

  • So what happened with the investigation? Is there any update or explanation about the officer's behavior?

Did he ticket anyone or make any further comments after "Good"?

Have any of the cyclists sought legal representation?

  • nothing wrong with taking the lane, slow down, wait 5 seconds, and pass safely on the LEFT.

Its not worth gettin mad about its just like 3 seconds off our commute geez. at least they are getting in shape.

the way I see it is they are just like tractors. when I come across a tractor on the road I dont get mad at all, I just slow down, wait, and pass safely on the LEFT.

  • How would you like to be behind a fleet of 20 tractors across all of the lanes not letting anyone pass during morning rush hour. Then when you honk your horn they all spit and dump water on the road in unison. You probably think I'm exaggerating but I'm not.

Folks, this isn't just normal groups of bicyclists making their way down the road and obeying traffic laws.

  • The Shootout is on a Saturday Morning. There is no "Rush Hour" on 5:30 A.M. on Saturday. Jackass

  • Pay attention asshole. I'm talking about knowing what these bicyclists do. It does not matter what time or whay day. What I witnessed is EXACTLY what happened during this "Shootout" event.

  • Bikes have the same rights as slow moving cars so how is it illegal to take the whole lane? The only thing dangerous about it is being on the road with psychos like the cop that pulled this stunt.

  • The people I'm talking about take over the entire road. All lanes. I'm familiar with the stunt.

  • Negative. According to ARS 28-815B, bicyclists are not allowed to ride more than two abreast. According to ARS 815A it is illegal for a bicycle to not ride as close as possible to the right.

So no, they do not have the same rights as cars do.

So get the facts straight before you start making foolish comments about the laws and cops that enforce them.

  • @deadinque Cops are fucking pricks in tucson. A tucson cop almost hit me. So this cop who almost hits me, pulls me over, and tells me she should give me a ticket for riding my bike with no hands. I turn to the lady and tell her i have my hand in a cast, and its awkward to ride on one hand for a long period of time.

Besides, it was her stupid pull out, that almost started it.

  • I've been in my car on Kino Pkwy in Tucson behind a group of bicyclists who have taken over the road and won't allow cars to pass. It's dangerous and illegal.

Just because you have a large group does not give you the right to take over a public roadway. What I witnessed on Kino is the same as what the group was doing on Mission Road.

If you are so concerned about PCSO then next time bring a video camera. Or don't you want everyone to see how you all behave?

  • I just don't understand why the PCSO is so upset about this clip, Their clip was released to the media to inflame the general public and show what bad people we are. Are they afraid what really happened March 1st become common knowlege and they are forced to do something about?
