  • beautiful holy Tree!! ^^

  • likpa bombo

  • okay explain to me why is this tree special?

  • @juliayg77 educate yourself i always say :) its been over a year, did you find an ansewr to youre question yet?

  • The Buddha sat under a Bodhi tree when he gained enlightenment. This tree is not that tree; but, it was grown from the original. So, this tree in Bodh Gaya represents the tree where Gautama Buddha first was enlightened. That is the significance. Now, it is and surrounded by a stone fence and sits next to a temple. But, thousands of years ago, the tree in question would have simply been out in the open.

  • @Doleafol

ya may be that parent tree died

but the temple was built around the tree by ashoka some 2300 years back which still stands

  • The Bodhi tree is special as it's the symbol of enlightenment. it's a reminder for us to work hard for enlightenment

  • true, the real one is in Sri Lanka. But this is the real place and this tree is an offspring of the real one. Anyway, I am not Buddhist.

  • i`m sorry, you`re right ... lanka!

Om muni muni mahamuni shakyamuni svaha

  • Wow its one of my dreams to be where you were! Its very wonderful you got to go and share this video with us, I know getting right by the Vajra Throne inside the fence is difficult, but I hope you came away with a very rich experience at Bodhgaya.

Om muni muni mahamuni shakyamuni svaha

  • Is that the original tree? it doesn't seems to have more than 2000 years, but well the faith is what counts =)

  • It is not. The original has died, they took a part of it to Sri Lanka and then they took a part of that one from Sri Lanka back to India. So, it is the same tree.

  • perhaps its from the same family? Son's of the original tree?

  • OM MANE PADME HUM
