@ 3:45 beautiful straight right to the body..over hand right to the head...finished with a perfect left uppercut to the belly...They don't teach amatuers today..Not flashy but anything to the body is very effective..Should have called him Sugar Ray the Body Snatcher Robinson
This is how a 'Sugar' is supposed to fight. When most people hear Sugar Ray or 'Sugar' Anybody, they autmatically think of fighters that are light on their feet, fast hands, and elusive. That's true, BUT, a real Sugar, like Robinson and Leonard, are also fearless, real dogs that won't let you outfight them, versatile enough to do what works, and serious finishers when they get you hurt.

@guvnoir23 Good point. But, in truth, that just doesnt apply to the word "Sugar" but actually the word "boxer". This is how a BOXER is supposed to fight. The meaning of the word "boxer" has gotten lost to todays generation of boxers and boxing fans. They think boxing is hit and run and do just enough to win. True boxers are guys like Robinson,Ike Williams,Salvador Sanchez, etc. Enough said. Peace
That was a great and rare look at Robinson in his prime. What I saw was the obvious speed and power, excellent and crisp footwork to get better punching angles, which underscores great punch selection. What impressed me the most was the courage exhibited by his willingness to punch WITH his opponent and to dig uppercuts to the body from range. Awesome.
@guvnoir23 I HAD to come back to this ! LOVE to try to picture the SURGARMAN with his Sweet, Sweet punches against Duran, the Motor City Cobra, Leonard, but most of all HENRY ARMSTRONG ! Along with Baltazarbrothers posting this I want to thank Guvnoir for your insight and edification ! PRICELESS FOOTAGE ! :- D
@ESSENCEOFEACHTHING Yes, and he went up and down stairs as appropriate. This video shows him changing his foot placement to line up the left uppercut to the body, right down the center between his opponents elbows. Masterful stuff.

Someone said that Lamotta has 4 of the 5 fights before this. I believe that big fights, inc. has at least one of these and because espn classic owns the collection now they don't want to devalue the collection.
@baltazarbrothers . Just out of curiosity, are the Baltazar brothers Tony and Frankie, son of Frank? Either way, thanks for putting this up and if you are the brothers I mentioned, your pops is a class act and the California Hall of Fame is better for him being enshrined.

Oh my Goodness, Robinson was a beast. I've never seen him at 147. Wow. He would destroy Floyd Mayweather Jr. or any welterweight.

@FrizzyBlue No one today could hang with Robinson from welter all the way up to light heavyweight
