When Gary started out he figured he had only a year or so to make it before the "good ol' white folks" discovered he was Black and stopped their kids from listening to him. This was of course back in the pre-TV era. Great to see him still rockin' after all these years!

released in 59 is what i've heard Gary say, but was'nt noticed until 60

It was originally released in 1959 but wasn't played until 1960, then the public didn't realize he was black until he began his first tour in 1962.
