  • Nice, but the two top comments are legit.

  • Amo la física!!!!!!! y tengo que tener una par de estas en mi bici hahaha.

  • They stole this off Tomorrow Never Dies.

  • what would happen if the hollow tube burst.

  • Excellent stuff!! Best part of the vid is defo the camera shots - proof in a cool-looking pudding!!

Another step...to making bicycles (and their tires) as reliable as their 100x weight cousins - l'auto.

    Great job, Benjamin!

    (from your Bay Area Neighbor)

  • great idea i wish i had this right now!

  • @bhop0073 @redinferno13 @tony8999 @heyiffy2000 @bhop0073 The production tires will have the lumen more as an integral part of the tread. The lumen is shown as over-pronounced in the vid just for demo purposes. We're looking at incorporating Kevlar/aramid-type materials into the lumen for puncture-resistance + will ensure that the tire is very reliable.

  • he looks like keanu reeves

  • @videopumptire

Hi, i like your idea. What are the limitations that stop you from putting this on cars? Or is that a future idea?

    goodluck with your invention :)

  • How exactly does the air get into the small tube that pumps the air into the innertube when it's flattened by the road??

  • whats the point of this..? a hole in the tire wont matter if u have a pump or slef pumping tire, unless this thing is patchable. awsome idea anyways

  • Sometime in the future could I purchase this with off-road mountain bike tires?

And how long does this last?

  • Most likey every tyre made will be built so the pressure matches the tyre itself. Durrr xD

  • you can bend your rim by riding it with no air

  • @hoffmanp11 @donwilson @MrVogone @latinoheat361 @MarkGameVid @cargobroombroom @emceelokey The valve that comes with the tire sets the pressure. Once the tire reaches the set pressure, the pumping stops; the valve assembly stops air from being pushed through the tire. On the City Cruiser version of the PumpTire, the valve has a fixed end pressure of 65 psi + on the City Pro version, it is user-adjustable anywhere from 65-95 psi.

  • cool idea! but don't you think 1mile is quite long?

  • cool idea

  • SELL IT IN THE NETHERLANDS, YOU WILL BE A MILLIONAIR!

  • DUDE this is epic.. what about if you do a lot of slides and stuff

  • but, will it blend

  • how does it work as a high pressure road bike tire? We need pressure of 110psi

  • question isnt at max preasure the tire will continue to fill it self and then blow?

  • What is the max pressure these tires will fill to?

  • Unfortunately my bicycles get stolen at a much greater rate then I get flat tires. I went through 2 bikes in 1.5 years with no flat tire :)

anyway... this technology might really take off if he doesn't get greedy and sells them cheap.

  • @bv90andy: You are extremely fortunate. I get a flat about once a week, on average.

  • Does it continue to raise the pressure or does it stop?

  • @1a2b3c4d5e2427 He says it stops and keeps it at the same pressure. :)

  • @mrchriss Then that tire would ruin bicycle pump manufacturors.

  • @1a2b3c4d5e2427 Haha, well. Not if these kind of tires are more expensive than regular ones. sinse these will eventually be destroyed too, its more expensive to buy them than it is to buy regular tires with one bicycle-pump. :P But i guess you were joking anyways. :P

  • you gottah give this guy a break. if you're worried about the tire wearing out, don't all tires wear? Yes this tire might wear out faster but i think its worth it. He could also use a diffrent type of rubber which will give a diffrent tread wear. Like car tires do. BTW GOOD LUCK ON THIS!!!!

  • Can you adjust the desired target pressure?

  • other websites have linked to this suggesting that this device will cure a punctured tire on the go. This looks like a cure for an under-inflated tire, not a "flat".

  • @xorbe2: If it works, it should allow you to ride on the punctured tire for longer, perhaps even long enough to get home. If it works.

  • Brilhante!

  • If you go backwards does it deflate?

  • the video just stops at 52psi.... does the tire keep inflating, and eventually explode?

  • @kezpanel According to what i have read it will stop inflating at 65psi .. But check their homepage for more info..

  • You dont get something for nothing. Surely the rolling resistance is through the roof! and even when you get to actual pressure, you'll still have to use energy to break through the resistance on the excess blow off valve right? don't get me wrong, fantastic idea, just curious about rolling resistance issues.

  • 1:02 - it's seizure time...

    BTW cool idea

  • Great idea until you wear through the outer tube thing

  • Is the small filter accessible/cleanable/replaceable? What happens if it gets filled with dirt?

  • so if you keep riding...the tire explodes after a while because of an overpressure?

  • I want this now! I've always hated pumping my tires. It seems quite simple, so why haven't we had this before?

  • Dude - u are a crazy genius !!!

  • troll physics

  • ok one problem most bike tires that ive seen say 45 psi max and i find that even at 45 the rires are too hard for comfortable riding

  • @hacht4lfe good mtb tire goto 65 psi i ride hard so i run mine at 55psi,

  • What happens when you stop moving?

  • great !

  • solid works!

  • Things gonna explode if you overinflate .

  • so...how does it regulate when it over-inflates?

  • What about over inflation? This combined with a self sealing tire can be something awesome.

  • ::strokes his curly mustache::

    BRILLIANT!

  • feel like if you break to hard, you would wear out those tubes easily

  • awesome, now all you have to do is put some CFC gas in the tire and strap a mini fridge on the pannier...

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!

  • I take it that you cant have any tread on the tire then? also how long can the that small tube last if you just cycle on roads?

  • DO WANT.

  • Genius!

  • Fantastic idea, but my god, I think I nearly had a seizure watching the camera within the wheel.

  • fucking genius

  • is their any problem due to over pumping and possibly bursting a tire? Or does the tire begin to release air once it gets to 60 psi or so?

  • Genius!

  • Doesn't it continue to pump pressure until the tire blows?

  • I like this, but what about water getting sucked in the tire?

  • @evilpig The tire has a small air filter designed to stop water and other particles from entering the tire. FAQs answered at the bottom of our kickstarter page.

  • What about rolling resistance how does this tyre feel compared to a performance slick road tyre

  • What about tire wear? I can't imagine that outer tube lasting very long in real world street riding.

  • @bhop0073 Exactly what I was thinking.

Maybe if you placed said tube on the inside of the tire, rather than the outside?

  • Great idea!

  • @oldguitardude Thanks! Feel free to share the video with other cyclists.

  • does it work on a road-bike tire? can it get over 100 psi? how does it limit the upper end? how does the differential thickness of the rubber under the contact patch affect durability of the tread? what happens to the pressure when a bike sits for a few days?

  • actually it does work starting from zero pressure. Stay tuned in the next weeks and I'll post that video!

  • This probably won't work on a completely deflated tire, but still a cool idea!
