  • Hendrix is most important and influential electric guitarist in the history of man. Those that came after him only added to what he had already put down, gilding the fuckin’ lily. Part of Jimi’s legacy is that he will either be the object of admiration or the target of distain. Haters hate because they wish their idol was the world’s “Guitar God”. There can only be one and his name is James Marshall Hendrix.

  • @DONDIVA1969 THE ONE TRUE GUITAR GOD, LORD OF LORDS, KING OF KINGS! High priest of feedback, Patron Saint of Virtuosos, the six string gypsy warrior, voodoo magician, keeper of the delta mojo! Clapton, Beck, Page, Townsend, Lee, Blackmore, Iommi, Gibbons, Allman, May, Freley, Rhodes, Young, Van Halen, Satriani, Vai, Gilbert, Malmsteen, Knopfler, Gilmour, Slash n co are no more than demi-gods!

  • @ Hippienationtees: Amen. If he'd have been granted the chance to live into his 30's and beyond I'm certain Hendrix would've polished-up the occasional but noticeable technical gaffes he was guilty of, and also well aware of--if the interviews he gave are any indication. He was working on it.

  • @Hippienationtes: Amen. If he'd been granted the opportunity to live through his 30's and beyond, I'm certain he'd have polished-up his act so that the few occasional but noticeable technical gaffes he was guilty of would have been all but eliminated.

  • @ KonkreteXXX: Hendrix was notorious for being either remarkably good-- (just listen to his innovative, as far from "beginner" as could be achieved with a standard Stratocaster setup, use of the TREMOLO, not vibrato, arm and spot-on range of the gamut of melodic guitar techniques on his version of Bleeding Heart at the Royal Albert Hall)--or pretty darn sloppy at times. Villanova Junction was far from technically perfect, I agree. My point was to suggest the musical direction he was taking.

  • @dansteely77 ......thats what i loved about hendrix.....he flowed with music....it wasnt perfect but a true crafstman who left signs of imperfection that gave it realism...when he was in the groove it was a spiritual joy to flow with his energy.......he took you along with his progressions.

  • What a fucking god...

  • Notice the strong use of the playing of octaves a la Wes Montgomery, but still with that beautiful, legato Hendrix touch. Pure genius.

  • @dansteely77 Also notice the out of tune bendings, horrible technique, shitty sound and the beginner vibrato haha just kiddin im not hatin ;)

  • music of this substance absolutely provokes an out of body experience for me. God bless music and God bless James Marshall Hendrix. A large part of my soul I owe to Jimi..

  • I miss the studio version, not that this isn't groovy at all, but the studio ver is soo goood... damn you copyright people !

  • @GoblinWizardry Please give me the link to the studioversion I love this as it is as a final of his performance at W-stock but I cant get enaugh of Mr Jimi /Thanks in advance from Sweden

  • It's pretty obvious to me that, by this time, Jimi had heard quite a bit of Wes Montgomery and was so taken with Wes's mastery over playing melodic octaves just as if they were single-note runs that he decided THAT was something he needed to add to his own guitar vocabulary, and the result was this masterful little number. THE highlight of Woodstock, in my opinion.

  • Gone 41 years today. Rest In Peace Jimi. All that HE was is still..

  • This is such a beautiful peaceful song to smoke to.

  • @thehrlich21 I agree.....heard this version on the first Woodstock 8 track and vinyl.....was blown away with the total spiritual connection of thought. hendrix was a true genuise....Also His Band of Gypsy concert is from another world.

  • @thehrlich21 For some reason when it comes to myself....this instrumental makes me want to go for a walk...near and around railroad tracks too.

  • it's just a loose jam type of thing; it goes something like this here..........wow

  • fantastic as always with jimi on the guitar...

  • don't know what it is about this instrumental..but i absolutely love it

  • My funeral song. Its all about FEEL!

  • Man be thankful that this spiritual man who could transfer and express his feelings from the soul to the fingers on the Strat and made it sound like so big and personal from that Marchal..Do not speculate if if.What he did on the 60s no one can ever make the same again. So be greatful what he gave us instead.Good bless you that you like Jimi as he was .This was a gift from God that he gave us what he did ,and it will never happend again, Good send only Jimi once.

  • @mbc200amg i totaly agree.......nothing moved me like Hendrix in his pure state. he wore a spiritual banner that connects right to the core of your being.

  • @Hippienationtees Thanks my friend...I can tell you a very unusual thing my 2 daughters 15 & 25 Love Jimi .I am so happy that in all that mess which is comming out they have sorted him as no1 Thats not bad..'???

  • @mbc200amg an absolute magical moment never to be witnessed again

  • i often wonder after listening to this for the millionth time,,,what would he be playing today? Thx for sharing!!

  • @1952FMS

  • it's the legato part where he bends the string behind the neck at 1:03ish that's insane. He never does that anywhere else I've heard, but he just pulls it out there. Mind-boggling genius

  • @jamieyoungscot

I think for that part he just suspends a bend and then "completes" the bend with the whammy rather than bending up with his fingers. that's how he gets that outrageous sound.

  • If Jimi plays this in A-minor, pay attention to around 2:03 -> where he´s already in D, or prolonges the A-minor7. Its sooo cool. Another thing, the old ballroom musicians often ends a tune in a straight major7, which I believe is a bit corny nowadays, Jimi ends this piece in A-minor2,,,and THAT is so appropiate. WHAT A TRACK !!!!

Indeed one of the Woodstock 1969 highlights.

  • 1:20 to 1:24 sooo sickkkk

  • Thank you. For me this was the highlight of his Woodstock set.

  • Many thanks peace & love.

  • beautiful music.thanks.
