Coke did NOT invent Santa's red clothing. That goes back about a hundred years at least, as you can see from many images online of old Christmas cards.
ive only just read your message you can buy any coca cola santas still unfortunately the only place of sale that i have come accross is universal studios florida
Santa was green when people first throht of his and other crap but when coke got hold of him for a advert he was red and he has been ever sinse lol if pepcy for hold of him he would be blue
I just saw a documentary not long ago... after 28 years now I know that Santa Claus real name is St. Nicholas, and he is Italian ... and the one we see in this video is only a creation from Coca-cola :(
i feel bad for santa they always portray him as a fat ass that sits on his ass all day that drinks coke all day and will eventually get up one day of a year for x mas, dont worry im sure a handsome stud santa :P_
Then in the early 1900s and man (whos name i have forgotten) drew a picture of what he thought Santa looked like in the New York Times inspired by Clement Moore's poem. This picture was adopted as the new face of Santa.
this probably sounds extremely nerdy but this is what our English teacher taught us in school. The whole Santa Claus story with him coming down the chimney all started with Clement Moore's poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas". Before that there were stories of a English saint known as St. Nicholas. He was extremely tall with a long beard and brown coat. Nothing like the Santa we think of today.
no... scholars think that Jesus was born in the summer cuz of the sheperds and the star... the reason we celebrate it in the winter is because its summer in bethlehem when its our winter
Mrs. Coca~Cola, a powerful merchant and he adopted the red coat and black boots we now know... they were orphan garments... sad, uh?
Oh, BTW: If let tales like Santa Claus, take over one of the most significant historical date on this planet (Jesus Birth, of course, the other one is Jesus Sacrifice), we're going to end up worshiping a soda bottle instead of praying.
that's for my brothers in Christ, for the rest of the world: Peace out!
If you want to talk about taking over dates, the only reason Christmas is celebrated on December 25th is that leaders in the early church wanted to displace preexisting celebrations like Saturnalia and the birth of Mithra. Most scholars think that Jesus was probably born in the spring.
I know (at least one of the reasons) the Church decided on Dec. 25 is (and it's really quite beautiful) that that's around the time of the winter solstice, so days start getting longer around Christmas, to symbolize new hope for man.
Santa was a ninja, hired by God to protect the tree wise men (3WM). One night he got drunk on sake and passed out. Thinking that the 3WM were days ahead, he sprinted all the way to Bethlehem and witnessed Jesus' birth. He stuck around until the 3WM arrived (11 days later). In the meanwhile, he drunk a shitload of eggnog and ate like a MF (mercenary folk). He got so fat, the ninja clothes bust out. somebody gave him a brown coat and a huge belt buckle... 2 years later, he signed a contract with
Ever heard of Sinter Klaas or Father Christmas? Coca-Cola didn't make him up...Santa has always been around, and his apparel & weight was like that well before Sundblom put pencil to paper. The only thing they can possibly be guilty of is making him red, which in a lot of depictions, was a widely used color for him [along with green or brown].
If your going to disscus santa`s origin it was sear`s who actually began building Santa`s fame ,coke just renvented the ad, campaigns for the legend of Kris Kringle.

lots of people forget what christmas is about,
now its about presents, presents, presents. if it wasnt for the creation of santa, christmas would just probably be just another normal day.
but i like it ^^

The only depiction of Santa I've ever really liked.
Had a small statue of one of his Santas.
Can't get them now I'm sorry to say.

The Church decided on Dec 25 to combat pagan festivals happening at that time. Just like All Saints Day (combat local rituals for All Hallows Eve).
