I think 320ish to the wheels, full boltons (CAI, Full Exhaust, Tune, Underdrive Pulleys, ThrottleBody, 160 Thermostat (stock cam and heads)) is great for an LT1 and for all the guys who're saying it's pathetic that the Formula barely edged him out, lets not forget that the Lightning is S/C'd and putting out more power and raced a relatively stock motor... It was a good race.

Camaros and Trans Ams are like sisters. They share the same motor, same chasis. Just Pontiac added a couple extra goodies into their Trans AMs, appearance and performance wise. Formula is faster then a regular Trans Am, then you got the Trans Am WS6 which is even faster.

Lightnings run 13.9@100-101 stock.But they run like shit when its hot and humid i dusted one last summer in my 01 GT and it only had full exhaust,K&N CAI and a diablo tune.I was 6 car lengths easily..
Just raced a GTP in my 97 formula and won by 2 cars. I got headers, exhaust, intake and street leagal tires. Talked to the guy and he showed me he had an aftermarket pulley, exhaust, intake and a chip.

formula and trans am r the same up until 2000 in that year and up the trans am was the only one to have the ram air hood in years below 2000 there the same except trans am has a raised spoiler formula doesnt and any year below 1998(93-97)the trans am has fog lights and the formula doesnt

Allow me to just add that a Lightning, although a fast "truck" already out of factory is built fast, I sweat & pounded work into my truck myself so I am very proud to state that my PICKUP TRUCK is fast & looks good to my likings, & will do more work to it son to come. Lightning has street tires....My old car was on drag radials, I have a video of the dig race....but ill tell you this, there is about 3-4 buses inbetween us.
I've been to dyno days in my truck club with lightnings. the majority of them are only putting down in the 320s to 330s. The bigger ones are putting down more around 380 and the biggest I saw was putting down 415 HP modified. that truck looked bone stock from the outisde...
But he didn't...They went from a Roll too, where shift points aren't as much a factor. Besides, tell folks @ the SVT the gearing is off and see what they say. I'm sure they've tuned their 'shift points' just fine. The Lightning got Pulled...fair and square.
it's not just about the HP, it's about the weight as well. Lignting has 380 at the crack so i assumed it's putting around 340-350 at the Wheel, when the formula's putting 315 at the Wheel and weights like 1000 pounds less. Just think about it
well, i re-researched it just to grant your wish, and now i will politely ask you to do the same. please do some resarch because "In the 2001 Model Year, the engine design was slightly altered to produce 380 horsepower @ 4,750 rpm and 450 ft·lbf of torque @ 3,250 rpm" that is a quote off of wikipedia. go there and type in ford lightning.
Both cool rides, but keep in mind the Lightning was basically stock and the Bird wasn't. A stock '03 L will smoke a stock LT1 from any given speed until you get over 120 (and if you do you're an idiot.) It's not anywhere near as robust stock as an LS1. I should know having owned 2 Lightings ('00 & '04), two LT1s ('93 Vette, '95 Z28) and two LS1s ('98 Vette, '00 WS6.)
The SVTL performs a lot better from a launch. One of the biggest things a lot of these retarded internet racer/posters/commenter don't know or realize is that a 50mph rolling start race is an entirely different animal than racing from a dig.

Ya my formula would loose. I don't think my T/A would beat you either. Basically the same stuff done as my 97 formula. Getting traction sucks when your pushing the kinda hp and trq you are. I know you have nittos, but I heard MT helps better. I raced a 01 TA with turbo running high 11s and after he warmed up the tires he couldn't even spin em on purpose.

formula and trans am r the same up until 2000 in that year and up the trans am was the only one to have the ram air hood in years below 2000 there the same except trans am has a raised spoiler formula doesnt and any year below 1998(93-97)the trans am has fog lights and the formula doesnt

Allow me to just add that a Lightning, although a fast "truck" already out of factory is built fast, I sweat & pounded work into my truck myself so I am very proud to state that my PICKUP TRUCK is fast & looks good to my likings, & will do more work to it son to come. Chevy, manual, lot's of goodies in it.

I've been to dyno days in my truck club with lightnings. the majority of them are only putting down in the 320s to 330s. The bigger ones are putting down more around 380 and the biggest I saw was putting down 415 HP modified. that truck looked bone stock from the outisde...

it's not just about the HP, it's about the weight as well. Lignting has 380 at the crack so i assumed it's putting around 340-350 at the Wheel, when the formula's putting 315 at the Wheel and weights like 1000 pounds less. Just think about it

Both cool rides, but keep in mind the Lightning was basically stock and the Bird wasn't. A stock '03 L will smoke a stock LT1 from any given speed until you get over 120 (and if you do you're an idiot.) It's not anywhere near as robust stock as an LS1. I should know having owned 2 Lightings ('00 & '04), two LT1s ('93 Vette, '95 Z28) and two LS1s ('98 Vette, '00 WS6.)
