World Bank, IMF, UN have all failed. They are useless, politically motivated and corrupt. I don't take them seriously anymore. China has helped its people out of poverty because it truly cares about its own citizens. And Chinese are hardworking and listen to their leaders. Not to say China is perfect, there are still problems but clearly its policies have worked. China rules! The rest of the developing countries should follow China, stop going to meaningless summits in New York for God's sake!

another is the WAGE GAP around the world!! if a price of a BIGMAC in Malaysia is around 57% of its counterpart in US then what about this: in Thailand a autoworker( skilled) is making around US$500 while its US counterpart is making US$6000 a month!!!! so thats the Price of human dignity!!!!

I´m sure if they study howmany people are actraullyu live under $2.00 a day or under $3.00 a day those figures would be probably the same. Or $5.00 a day. PLus $1.00 in 1981 is $2.88 cents today. So may they should be measuring extreme poverty by people livng under $3.00 a day and povery by people living under $6.00 a day. But that would realy show how What the world bank itself promotes is what has created more poverty than ever before.

Can someone explain to me clearly how the world bank is responsible for poverty/instability? I'm not challenging this claim, just I hear it a lot and I'd like to know the basis for it so I can be more informed

Hard to explain in details but just as a general info the world bank is a central bank that loans out to poor countries (with interest ofcourse) to develop roads bridges etc etc that is suppose to help these countries to improve the infrastructure of the country. Problem is they get them into such big debts that the country can never pay it back (similar to sub-prime lending) so their government are forever in debt and the infrastructures they built are used for private companies anyway.

I don't really understand the specifics of debt and why it's bad I suppose. Like I know the U.S. is in ridiculous debt. Do they have a deadline for paying that debt? Or is the interest charged not something that can just be added to the debt? Do they have to pay the interest immediately, etc etc

I know this is one of the problems with South Africa since when it was under Apartheid, they racked up lots of debt and now the new government has to struggle to pay it back.
