  • The Giants won the 1951 pennant... because they cheated. They had some guy in the bleachers relaying the pitch signals to the batter. The players even admitted to this 50 years later. Bobby Thomson's batting average went up 100 points after the scheme was implemented.

  • i so hope that kruk and kuip shout this out when the giants win the pennant again this october! idgaf if they're behind the dbacks in the nl west they could still pull through by october!

  • Q: who was in the on deck circle?

A:Future hall of famer Willie Mays.

    Ahhhh fun facts!

  • one of the best moments in baseball history EVER!!!

  • so pumped the Giants have won the world series

  • the Giants win the Series , the Giants win the Series , the Giant win the Series ! we're going crazy, we're going crazy ! ooooooooo oh !

  • @sfgunner88

it's actually "The Giants win the pennant"

  • @BestVidsRightHere are you serious ? did you just say thaty ?

  • @sfgunner88

Yes I did. He says "The Giants win the pennant", not "The Giants win the series". Are you fucking deaf?

  • @BestVidsRightHere you really are an fuckn idiot. Giants won the World Series aka the series. do you get it now!

  • @sfgunner88

Ok, I know. But that isn't what the commentator said.

  • @BestVidsRightHere Lol, you still don't get it. He's talking about the 2010 Giants winning the world series.

  • @Hookinem

Oh, haha. 3 months later I finally understand lol

  • The 2010 Giants win the pennant! The 2010 Giants win the pennant!

  • The Giants just won the Pennant a few seconds ago!!!!!!

  • The Giants went on to ultimately lose the World Series to the Yankees. So this is not the greatest home run ever nor the shot heard round the world. 1960 Bill Maz's homerun the greatest ever! This won the World Series against the mighty Yankees and it was in the 7th game and a great game at that. So sorry, Giants fans.

  • @josephdpa because the same thing Joe Carter did doesn't matter as he played for a Canadian Team. If anything they're tied for the greatest home run ever.

  • @josephdpa

sure there have been more impactful homeruns...but this is such a great homerun because of the great call by the Russ Hodges (a call that all baseball fans are familiar with) and because the Giants beat their hated rivals, the Dodgers.....so the Pirates beat the Yankees...big woop....the Pirates may be an old baseball team but they aren't an iconic team and the Yankees weren't hated rivals

  • The Giants Win The Pennant!!! Fantastic...

  • this clip is straight joy. The excitement in the announcer's voice. the hooting and hollering of someone in the background. The shots of the people in the stands losing their minds... This home run meant so much... makes my eyes water up.

  • R.I.P. Bobby Thomson

  • Bobby Thomson died today 08/17/2010, Rest In Peace.

  • RIP Bobby. You made my father tear up when he used to tell me this story. He was 15 when it happened and it made him a Giants fan for LIFE.

  • The Greatest single moment in baseball history! Thank you Bobby!

  • 25 October 1923 – 16 August 2010

  • RIP Bobby Thompson

  • ralph never your fault never you have class!

  • The greatest recorded moment in baseball history. Russ Hodges' call is just SOOOO perfect to match the moment.

  • Bobby Thompson born Glasgow Scotland.

  • man, you see a team today jumping around so much after a walk off, they hardly did anything back then

  • with the say hey kid on deck

  • hey Subway: actually it was coach Franks that was in the clubhouse with a telescope and Yvars was in the bullpen getting the buzzer signal, then passing the signal on to the batters. But this didn't really have that great of an impact as Dodger fans may think - if it was so successful, why did the Dodgers crush the Giants the day before, 10-0? It wasn't a good decision by Dressen to put Branca in to face Thomson , since Thomson had already hit a few homers off Branca.

  • The Giants had Sal Yvars planted in the locker room window with a telescope and a simple buzzer/bell system in their bullpen. He'd watch Campanella's signals and relay to the pen what pitch Branca was gonna throw. The bullpen catcher would then relay the information to the batter via a towel being moved up and down what was coming. Leo cheated and the Giants won the flag. Sad but true.

  • hey man ur link is posted on the gatorade website

  • Pure heaven...........

  • and willie mays was on deck in his rookie year that year

  • If you want to see my other videos go to bballplaya3917 or lebron123war

  • Hey, at least the Dodgers have won a championship (five in fact!) since leaving New York. The SF Giants can only claim an empty trophy case! Hahahaha!!!

  • that's just a nice way of saying they only won 1 before they left. why are you even watching this video if your a dodger fan?

  • @dhig555 fuck the dodgers....

  • Cheats! Cheats! Cheats!

  • Maybe not pennance but they did win the PENNANT by cheating.

  • Damn and that was the Polo Grounds too

  • Charlie Dressen chose to put it at the Polo Grounds (the last two games), assuming the Dodgers would win at Ebbets Field. The Giants won in Brooklyn, and the Dodgers won Game 2 in the Polo Grounds. If Dressen had a little more caution, Brooklyn could have won.

  • O'Malley traitor, return the Dodgers.

  • Best clip on youtube

  • A great piece of baseball history. Thank you for the posting. Btw, who said cheaters never prosper? ;-)

  • And when was thelast time the Giants won a WS? 1954. Maybe that is their pennance for cheating.

  • That's part of the lore of baseball. In no other sport in America is there such superstition and belief in karma! LOL!

Let us not also forget that it was their manager, Leo Deroscher, who coined the phrase "nice guys finish last!"

Pennance for cheating? Well, we'll one day know. ;-)
