Whew! I'm finally able to get through this drill without killing myself. Still can't believe you make it through with no breaks (except maybe 5 seconds here or there) My instructor also says my kicks are getting a lot better. Silva you better watch out!
@gabepizza awesome, I've been practicing my muay thai body kick too, I think my form is getting better. My coach told me to bring cam recorder to MT practice tomorrow, we'll see if I finally get it nailed down :).
Hey CuppaWorkout, this conditioning is a great substitute when I can't make class. I have been doing neck workouts like you advised (yes's and no's) and it has helped me improve for clinching which we do a lot. Right on!
@gabepizza :), need to thank my coach for that. He has us done this at least once or twice a week (for a long time too!!!) Yeah clinching is hard esp if you deal with a good one. My neck bent to weird angles when I clinched with strong women/men who know how to cilnch...got locked neck a few times but now got used to it due to the conditioning.
If you have kettlebell, you should do tougher circuit with some weight too....maybe I'll post our kettlebell routines so you can follow too.
@CuppaWorkout That will be great. I don't have a kettlebell but I am planing to go to a sports store soon to pick up a pull-up bar and some shin-pads (although I heard those are hard to find) so I can get a kettlebell then. Sounds like you have a great coach and you must be a top student. Thanks for the response and keep up the videos!
@gabepizza I post my Muay Thai gear, be sure you choose shin pads that are thick enough. Some guys throw kick quite hard and it takes a while for us to condition our shin, be sure you put enough protection for your shin :).
Muay Thai shin guards should be thicker than the MMA/Jiu Jit Su grappling shin pads.
@CuppaWorkout just droppin on the convo.. i like your muay thai conditioning if been following along and i added it to my workout.. If you could make a video of your kettlebell workout im very curious.
@moneyfan05 I do this every Tuesday & Saturday; it's very intense and not sure if I can replicate it on my own without my coach encouraging everyone to finish but I can post the routine over the weekend.
@CuppaWorkout , these workouts are not conditioning ur abs, they are just working them and building the muscle. making the muscle stronger and bigger. conditioning is circuit training, getting somebody to punch ur abs continously, throwing a medicine ball on ur abs while laying down, that is conditioning!
@iTactiics wth? of course we do all that. We do roll medicine ball under our abs, we do kettlebell and jump scotch with 50 lbs plate and we do push 300 lbs cart for 400 meter but that besides the point.
the yes & nos are neck strengthening, to condition your neck for clinching! the bicycle crunch & all abs build the abs muscles... boxing is not about taking the hit! all the punching & kicking starting from the core. !
@iTactiics As I said, I don't mean to be rude, our coach condition us with body weight, running, circuit training etc. His credential including coaching several strikeforce mma champions as well as trainig NFL athletes. what is your credential?
Thank you for sharing. That's a tough routine. I like it and I am definitely going to try it in a couple of weeks - I can't do any training until then.
I personally don't think yoga is good for anything, except flexibility... but that's just my opinion :-).
@traxgh yoga actually helps me a lot. Before yoga, I couldn't do a proper diamond push ups (even though I did other push ups) and I couldn't do a single leg pistol squat. After yoga, I found out that my body is limber & light, it's easier to lift my own body.
So flexibility, coordination, core strength, and better posture. I took Bikram & Power Flow, some of the poses are very hard, not any easier than weight lifting or martial arts.
@CuppaWorkout I think that most of your core and upper body strength comes from the MT conditioning and doing PUs. I bet if you did only yoga, you wouldn't be able to do nearly as many as 100 push-ups.
Perhaps Bikram and Power Flow are different, it's just that what I've seen from yoga is too static and slow for my taste, and didn't require much effort. Lazy person's workout :-). Of course, I could be wrong, since I've never done yoga - if it helps you, sure go ahead with it!
@traxgh I agree...yoga alone is not enough, we have to do others for sure and I need to maintain my muscles since I eat a lot as muscles burn 3 times more than fat. That's the solution, I can only eat more if I workout more :D.
do you do this everyday? i dont wanna hurt mysel,f props you are hardcore!

@CuppaWorkout yeah thanks. Presently I am using the crappy used pads from the gym that are mismatched, small and falling off.

Didn't record anything, but played with this routine today. It was all I could do just to finish. esp. the 1/2 bicycles and neck. Kudos Cuppa
TeamGo33 1 year ago
@TeamGo33 yeah, 1/2 bicycles are killer, not until I did yoga, I could finally lock my other leg off the ground. Before that, it's really tough.

Wow you are in super shape! I can barely do half of what you are doing. You are fit enough to fight.

@gabepizza thanks...getting fitter, but not fit enough to fight for sure. Long way to go, if I ever get there :D.
