Yes I was but I think of years of trying to solve it I found it out try and clean the hard drive and if that doesn't work then make sure that it is not on top of dust because that can cause that to happen so yea try that. If that doesn't work then make sure that the hard drive disk is clean and not marked at all that can mess it up.

You need to reset the memory from your PS3. You can find some interesting videos on YouTube if you don't know how to get in the RECOVERY MENU. You need to select the 2nd from below in the menu you'll find. (thought it was #5). Be sure that you SAVE your save games on a USB stick or on a SD CARD. After that you need to recover your PSN and then you can still download everything you have ever downloaded from the PSN.

I think these things are run to some sort of timer, after a while it fucks it up right on schedule and leaves you having to buy a new one. Think about the profit if everyone who bought one ended up having to buying 2.

you need a new laser i just went through this and made many calls watched many videos before spending money . but i did buy the laser lens and it worked hope this helps

@lilblitz ikr. but something finally good happened to me! a few dayz ago i went to gamestop at some mall and the new ps3 was 300 bucks and it cost i think $150/$200 to get the fucker fixed, i waz just about to say fck with that!, until the guy said if i turned the playstation in they would take like $200 bucks off the new 1. and i turned in my old ps2 games in and they took money off it also. so i only ended up paying$100 and somethin for the new 1!

I think a piece of your blueray reader melted... if thats the case, if you send it to sony for they can fix it, a month later they'll send your ps3 back but... they'll send it back REALLY HOT, and you will only be able to play for a few weeks cause then the thing will melt again... >.> tho i think sending it to sony is free o.O? but any ways if you still havn't fixed this problem by now... you have to buy a whole new ps3... or else the one you have will keep getting messed up

How to fix this problem:
