Soul. A truly great song can be played without having to be perfect, and its soul will resonate even from the simplest performance. John and Paul wrote a very pleasing song. :)
Keith Richards is the greatest rhythm guitarist ever, according to a list put together by Gibson.com. He says, "[Rhythm] has always fascinated me. Mainly because I realized after quite a few years that the thing that really intrigued me, that turned me on to playing, was suggested rhythms going on, or a certain tension. Especially in early rock and roll, there's a tension between the 4/4 beat and the eighths going on with the guitar."
You're missing the point - I'm not criticizing the Stones' music, or Keith's ability to play great riffs - I just commented that this version SUCKS! And yes, I can play it better than this.
The bit from 1:30 on is so beautiful. There's something ver very very special about Keith's performance of this song that is just so hard to explain. It's like someone goofing around a song and adding some gorgeous bits to it without knowing. His mistakes only emphasize the coolness of the process.
@MrJohndl Haha, you foolish fanatic. That someone is really good, and maybe even better doesn't mean the other one isn't great to. Keith is known as the Riffmaister, sorry for asking it this way, but, who the fuck are you man? Go practice this piece as well as you want and put it here on YT. I assure it won't be so goos as this spontaneous try.
ifarias1000 -he is playing this for the first time, from the memory through his ears. learn an instrument and you can tell. My bet is you cant play anything. stick to aerosmith you sad sucker.
@1974catwoman i play guitar and i can play a melody almost after one listening, even if i don´t have heard it for a year..it´s a special gift i have.. but i can´t do other things so well..my brain can only take in music, and some other things, but i can´t do practical things.. i´m glad that i have this gift, but i should be more glad if i could do some more "real" things...
This was from the Voodoo Lounge sessions back in 1993 over at Ronny's house in Ireland. This is actually Keith's favorite Beatles song. Back in 2008 he begged Paul McCartney to play it during his gig at the Superbowl but McCartney said the gig was already set in stone and rehearsed. I played this song this morning on my guitar but in standard tuning. The Voodoo Lounge outtakes on Voodoo Brew and Voodoo Stew are awesome. I like "you got it made" and the Zydeco sounding "jump on top of me".
zwischendurch ist ja zu sehen, daß keith zur flasche greift. und genau so hört sich diese kacke an !
