The Twin Towers were not good architecture, and the only people who really miss them are usually hyper-patriots or people who have never visited a city and have no idea what this horrible skyscraper architecture did to the city skyline and the streets below (see the Twin Towers Alliance Facebook group). You guys need to move past your feelings and understand that the WTC was not nearly as amazing you guys like to imagine it is, and that we are getting something much better now.
I really miss the twin towers in the skyline, I went to New York City a few months ago and it just didn't feel right without them towering over the skyline! With that said, I went to the memorial site/freedom tower and I disagree with people saying we would show countries that we get right back up after getting pushed down. The new Freedom tower is amazing in person, and why risk another attack if we rebuilt the two towers? Let the poor people that died in those attacks rest where they fell.

I'm not from NYC, I'm from Michigan and I really wish they would rebuild the Twins. Not just for the aesthetics but because it will show the world that we can get knocked down but we will get back up and be better and stronger. Also, if you look at the middle fountain pen shaped building with the X, reading from bottom to top and top to bottom. You read 911 in roman numerals. The four post building also has X's and I's on it. Interesting design.

The roman numeral symbol for 9 is IX. The roman numeral symbol for 11 is XI. There is a huge X on top of the middle building. This most disgusting thing about 9/11, Larry Silverstein and probably the Bush Administration made billions of dollars from the destruction of the WTC. Those glass things don't fit in with the rest of New York's classic skyline. They look alien compared to the simple, yet elegant design of the old WTC, which fit in quite well with the other buildings surrounding it

The original Twin Towers were built in 1970 and were also constructed purposely to withstand the possibility of a plane crashing into them. The WTC was designed to withstand the impact of a 707. There's very little difference between the 707 and the 767. In 1988, the Aon Center in LA, a 62 Story building built the same as the towers, caught on fire. The fire lasted much longer and there was no collapse. The old WTC was good enough and it was built strong to begin with.

@IWZWrestling I one hundred percent agree. I don't mind the new design but the Tower 2 and 3 need to be similar height, angle and separation as the original towers. Otherwise the skyline just won't look right.
Hey did you guys here, that The Port Authority have a change of plan and are going to re-build the twin towers on the existing 2&3 site? Would be Awesome if true.

I'm from England and i must admit i would have preferred to have seen the twin towers rebuilt to get that beautiful skyline back. But a lot of people are missing the fact that people lost sons,daughters,fathers,mothers etc on that terrible day and i don't believe they would like to see the same type of building where their loved ones perished rebuilt. Respect their feelings it would be a constant reminder of an experience i would never wish on anyone

When the original world trade center complex was built every architect said it was an abortion. They had RUINED the lower manhanttan skyline (in the 1970's)! The public at the time also agreed in the 1970's. They were plain, uninspired boxes. Now,they built more artistic building that fit with the landscape and people want the old "boxes?." I think the new designs are much better but two of those building are not going to be built because of funding.

@TLJAWSIMIB Usually yes, but that's not what I said. The old towers looked cool because they were twins, and went straight up without setbacks. But I like the new WTC towers over the old ones, because it has much more glass, and looks more modern.

This most disgusting thing about 9/11, Larry Silverstein and probably the Bush Administration made billions of dollars from the destruction of the WTC. There is no absolute way that those buildings would of collapsed naturally because of a plane hit and fire breaking out on a few floors. Most of the floors remained untouched. A planed smashed into the pentagon (supposedly) and disappeared into a small hole, did the whole side of the pentagon collapse? No, it dont make sense.

Those glass things don't fit in with the rest of New York's classic skyline. They look alien compared to the simple, yet elegant design of the old WTC, which fit in quite well with the other buildings surrounding it

They'll blow this one up in 30 yrs as well. When the old ones were there, I thought they should have built more like it. They were Modern, Contemporary, and human. This new pod is an ode to the aliens, not Humans. They should have improved NYC with new modern buildings, not blow up old ones and call it "a terrorist attack". As I said again, they will blow up this new edifice and call it "some new attack" then on an unsuspecting generation. I predict about 2100, maybe 2101. Unreal.

I now realize maybe the 1993 bombing was an attempt to prove that. In a construction video I have of the world trade center, the middle area where the second plane hit was wrapped in something. Maybe they planted explosives then in whatever year that was. 1970 - 73. They claim it was an asbestos wrap, but now I have second thoughts.

The original Twin Towers were built in 1970 and were also constructed purposely to withstand the possibility of a plane crashing into them. The WTC was designed to withstand the impact of a 707. There's very little difference between the 707 and the 767. In 1988, the Aon Center in LA, a 62 Story building built the same as the towers, caught on fire. The fire lasted much longer and there was no collapse. The old WTC was good enough and it was built strong to begin with.

I'm from England and i must admit i would have preferred to have seen the twin towers rebuilt to get that beautiful skyline back. But a lot of people are missing the fact that people lost sons,daughters,fathers,mothers etc on that terrible day and i don't believe they would like to see the same type of building where their loved ones perished rebuilt. Respect their feelings it would be a constant reminder of an experience i would never wish on anyone

When the original world trade center complex was built every architect said it was an abortion. They had RUINED the lower manhanttan skyline (in the 1970's)! The public at the time also agreed in the 1970's. They were plain, uninspired boxes. Now,they built more artistic building that fit with the landscape and people want the old "boxes?." I think the new designs are much better but two of those building are not going to be built because of funding.
