I have loved many soaps since I was a young child, watching with my Mom, (AMC, Y&R, Dallas, Knot's Landing, DOOL, Santa Barbara, B&B, GH, Another World, Falcon Crest, Dynasty and Guiding Light). The ONLY show that ever made me truly feel like the characters were like family has been Guiding Light. Excluding the last few yrs of really terrible storylines & the crappy, cheap camera work/format, GL was THE BEST! I still mourn the loss of my GL.
i dont even watch guiding light, but i was sad when tammy died...i found all the vids of her and jonathon on youtube, and watched them, and it was so sad...and it really sucks that GL is gonna be cancelled...if a soap like this can go down then who's next, GH, DAYS, OLTL?? =[
I love how Robert and Kim always sit together or stand next to each other at events.. as far as emmys go..Kim Zimmer is in second place for the most Emmys won..GL has won alot of awards..
Also CBS has the MOST nominations (every year) than any other network. Every CBS show was in an Acting category and Major categories this year. So STOP all the fuss.
GL maybe at the bottom of the rating but the show is clearly an Emmy winner. GL has won several awards at the Emmys: Crystal (Olival), Jordi (Tony), Kim (Reva), Tom (Jonathan), Gina (Dinah), and Jordan (Billy). Best Show and Writing all since 2000 and countless nominations. So as long as Guiding Light is on I'm on as well. Like Gina said "I hope that GL (SOAPS) is around for a million and 1 years".
I would have loved for GL to win, but the only consistently outstanding drama for 2007 was OLTL. GH throws together its 2 Emmy shows specifically for the Outstanding Drama award and wins. I wish the academy would stop awarding GH for this practice.

you do know CBS rule daytime though. more emmy wins better ratings . more years in the business. it's ok that you hate them but CBS rules daytime the facts show that.
The Soap Opera with the most outstanding drama emmy wins is an abc soap(GH) and just because cbs has older soaps doesn't mean they are necessarily good soaps. In fact cbs's older soaps are the ones who have the lowest ratings. And only two of cbs's soaps are doing well in ratings while all of the abc soaps are doing well in ratings. So i don't know that CBS rules daytime.
Maybe you should check the latest ratings because ALL the soaps on ALL the networks have just about the same rating. The ABC are not doing well in the ratings as compared to the other soaps.
@rbs2013 Who taught you how to argue? Popularity has no relevance to quality. Quality is independent of that. If you want to go by that metric, Y&R is the best show, because it has 20+ years of dominance in the ratings. Nobody's toppled them.
I cannot think of ANY male soap actor that is BETTER than Tom Pelphrey! He wows me! He should be in major films. He is brilliant.

Guiding Light has lasted 70 years..so until they pull the plug..I am watching my Jeva..lol ..I don't pay attention to ratings.
