  • my childhood, getting tears in my eyes

  • lol was that a junior high band playing the music in 3 and 4? jesus

  • amazing end

  • Chris Reeves will ALWAYS be The Superman template. He was simply born to play him. He's also superb as Kent. Superman Returns was a rubbish beyond boring movie and I hope The Man of Steel takes the franchise back to the greatness of 1 and 2. For me though Reeves will always be flying above the planet with a smile.

  • Superman's "smile" became his signature movement during his orbital fly-by to end the films. My kids, nephews, and nieces were waiting for it at the end of Superman Returns...but nothing. Where was the smile, Routh??

  • Superman Returns is the best......nuff said

  • Reeves...#1 !!

  • yes he will always be the best

  • christopher reeve will always be te best!! :)

  • horrible audio!

  • Haha so cool...he's the ultimate good guy!!!!

  • @pootrap

to a child born in a 3rd world war torn country, Superman represents a God, a perfect Father most children from that country do not have

  • Superman & Superman II The Richard Donner Cut are the best ones...Christopher Reeve will always and will be the only superman

  • @Moviedirector94 I agree.

I think that Superman and Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut are the best Superman Movies. However I do really like Superman Returns.

  • theyre all pretty much the same hadn't noticed that before

  • @yodaya70

That's because... THEY ARE ALL THE SAME SHOT FILMED BY DONNER IN 1978! They just reused the same famous shot over and over for the first 4 films. They were able to get away with it because Reeves didn't seem to age much in the 12 years.

It wasn't even supposed to be the end of the film(which was supposed to be Zod, Non and Ursa flying at the screen menacingly in a "to be continued" ending) but after they changed it in the editing, they used this instead.

  • I hope the new films ends this way AND has John Williams' Theme.

  • Nothing beats Christopher Reeve's smile at the end!

  • @victoriaindigo yes , it sure is. just beautiful music. my favorite soundtrack.****

  • i enjoyed RETURNS the most..... honestly

  • See ya next time, suckers!

  • BY GEORGE, I THINK WE GOT IT....

  • OMG i think there is a pattern!

  • The new Superman movie is not going to have this I bet.

  • @flix2view Unfortunately; I don't think so either. I think rather than spend the high price of a theater ticket and even more outrageous price on popcorn, candy and drink; I would like to buy a remastered version of the original on Blu-Ray. I bought "Doomsday" animated for $5.95 and really enjoyed that. I still like the comics of course too. I will probably wait till "Man of Steel" goes on the $1.99 rental shelf at Blockbuster like I did for "Superman Returns".

  • why can't brandon routh smile???

  • @TightKickflip I know. I was thinking the same thing. I just watched it again and I wanted to see the smile. I love the smile.

  • @sarahmcook ye..it kinda was one of his trademarks if you want...you were allways waiting for him to smile at the end...the whole movie threw i thought routh was totally serious..never smiled or laughed or anything...as if he really wanted to say "I don't like this role...i actually wanted to be the bad guy"

  • @TightKickflip Totally correct on that one! Routh's attitude was so remote from what Christopher did; it kind of creeped me out. The idea of Superman is that he helps us, inspires us to be a great people if we wish and remember that he is...a friend! I remember as a kid, a Fireman helped out my family during an emergency; after telling me things would be OK; he smiled. My doctor does the same thing after she sees me. A smile is a reassuring thing that makes a difference.

  • @zenjim007

Routh does smile in the final shot, but it's been obscured here by the video compression and blurryness.

He doesn't do an open mouth smile, but it's still a warm smile.

  • @colliric Maybe so as you say however most people will associate the famous parting Superman smile with Christopher; simply because it looks sincere on him and more acting it out on Routh. Everything that they tried in Superman Returns is basically a reboot of all the ideas created by Donner, along with Williams soundtrack. Christopher was the blueprint and theres no getting around it; however as in most art, the copy is hardly the equal of the original.

  • cool Superman Rules

  • GREAT (:
