  • First time I heard these smart words of TM... I simply had to do something with it...

Check out my "No One Is Smarter Than You" clip & original music, as the end result...

I do not agree with ALL of TM's words and ideas, which makes me totally agree to this excerpt.

Long live his (your) wisdom !

  • WHat im hearing is a call to decide for yourself. a call for contemplative interaction with the world you are experiencing. Not relying on anyone elses experience as an ultimate thing or truth. Finding your own truth, cultivating your own perspectives by relating authentically and intimately with what you are experiencing.AND i also really value other people such as terrance McKenna, they offer perspectives that i consider and test out for myself. i think other perspectives are great to consider

  • @mufalmewww It's arguable that there isn't actually any perspective other than your own. The idea of considering a perspective other than your own is merely a delusion.

  • terrence mckenna is smarter than I am

  • can any body PLEASE tell me the name o music in background i think its pink floyds,,but pls can any one help me with it...it would be very nice i some one post me a download link or a youtube link

  • Masterfully spoken, where can I find the image @1:14?

  • INCONCEIVABLE!!!!!

  • His words always calms me down so much

  • Why do people insist on putting shitty music over Terence McKenna? It just detracts from what he's saying. Imagine if TED Talks were all overlaid with music. It'd be rubbish, right? I mean, I like listening to music as much as the next man, but not when I'm trying to use my ears for something else!

There was a 'special report' on the news tonight and it had Aloe Blacc's "I Need A Dollar" playing over the top! 'Over the top' being the operative phrase, I'd say. It's the news for fuck's sake! :-(

  • @nagualdesign I really like this song. It's a nice touch.

  • Hey yo whats that the name of the song? It made me trip balls man...

  • u retards its fake i watched it 11 times it dont work

  • @LakotaS25 What is fake? ..

  • i just watched his last video, at first i was kinda spacing out and not understanding, but in the middle i got a sudden rush of ideas, heres what i thought of from listening to him XD culture is a program, just cuz windows 98' worked doesnt mean it was perfected, nothing can be perfectedperfection is the lack of infancey

  • This advice led me to truth just like he said :)

  • I truly think that everything spoken from Terrance is life changing...any sane person would agree. Mistrust the media and idealogy, inform yourself, trust yourself and connect to your inner being. It's just that simple! With this appreciation of nature and yourself you have the power to LOVE! And being who you are as a Human Being is good enough!

  • Cool.

  • We can't be all this or all that, we need to be skeptical sometimes and trusting at other times. Trust yourself, yes, but trust the world that nourishes you as well.

  • @CensorshipKilla How do you know? as far as I am concerned the net like the news about 95% BS . Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see

  • The intellects have outdone themselves

  • What good is flying on an airplane when I don't have a full mastery of physics and engineering? So I can get somewhere of course. Mr. McKenna makes some good points but underestimates emergent properties of societies which arise not from each person knowing everything, but from complex networks of information shared-often unconsciously- between millions of people.

  • Whenever I find myself feeling lost/down in the dumps/ineffectual/whatever, I remember this video and come back and watch it, and I immediately feel 100x better

  • what the heck is this music doing on this video...sounds nice, but really clashes with his talking.

  • Terence McKenna is one of the few members of a rare breed of people, a breed which we would all be screwed without, thank you Terence Mckenna for meerly existing in our world

  • Terence McKenna is one of the few members of a rare breed of people, a breed which we would all be screwed without, thank you Terence Mckenna for meerly existing in our world

  • @CensorshipKilla

    proof?

  • I seriously hope no one believes the idiot below me.

Protip: have the sense not to respond to him. Read his channel, you'll get the picture.

  • @gannen33 It takes a certain amount of intelligence to know intelligence when you see it. Don't call him an idiot, hope he arrives to the point you are one day. As for McKenna, he's one of my favorites, right there with Nietzsche. In fact, McKenna is quite a bit more uplifting if not more intelligent than Nietzsche, to say nothing of him being inherently more modern.

  • The painting at 1:20 remind me of me

Exept my path isnt bright because i have nobody..

  • More visual magic if you're interested here: watch?v=g1DjUtQLMko

  • how did he die?

  • @cyrusjerome Brain tumor.

  • RIP

  • his voice speaks the music of my dreams........

big brains, big balls - nice combo McKenna

    love you big time x

  • Terrence him self is a mind altering substance

  • @brianz1214 HAHAH Yes!

  • Terrence, Zappa and Jiddu Krishnamurti have more or less the same ideas.... it's all beautiful stuff - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -moving forwards >>>

  • Terence's bravery is like a gentle storm!

  • People who contend that McKenna was a quack, or that he was simply theorizing, or speculating, or just reciting myths miss the point. Regardless of whether a person believes in his theories on novelty, or cultures, or UFOs, or any of the many thousands of topics he enjoyed discussing, please take away this particular main point he consistently stressed -- every man, woman, and child should think for themselves, whether thinking about entheogens, politics, or even the sacred shrines of science.

  • Brilliant.

  • What do I think marijuana will cure the world thats what i think

  • conjecture, speculation, mythology, quackery. that's all mckenna was/is. you believe him because you want to believe him, not because you have researched what he teaches and found it to be true.

  • @ajones123ful You don't know me.

  • @ajones123ful

I have researched LIFE for myself, and it seems interesting that Terence has observed many of the same things I have. Your sweeping generalizations about a philosopher are conjecture, speculation, mythology and above all useless quackery. Forgive my mammalian anger - but I feel urged to protect those who I Know deserve intellectual respect.

  • @ajones123ful That sounds like complete opinion and not fact, Congrats! you just engaged in mental masturbation! :)

  • @ajones123ful

If people listening to McKenna's words are just caught up in confirmation bias of unproved thought as you suggest, why are you spending time on it?

  • we are anonymous, we are aware of the corruption in the world's governments and their apathy for the human lives because of money.

we are aware of the governments' attempt to cover on the news of the rebellions to keep us as slaves for the current system.

we are anonymous, we declare war on the corrupted system, join the plan to get your freedom and rights back. you are a human being, your life has value. we are anonymous, we are legion, expect us!

    whatis-theplan(dot)org

  • I love this guy!

  • I was saying this to a mate last week. I was taking mushrooms and searching from within and experiencing what seemed to be eternal knowledge.

Unfortunately I had a reaction that nearly killed me that night and I ended up in hospital from either consuming a toxic shroom or and allergic reaction. I cannot take mushrooms again.

  • What's the song?

  • so true!

  • 11:11:11...

  • So true. No one is smarter than you. Not your pastor, priest, pope, parents, president, or your court-room judge. No one knows any more than you do what happens to us upon death. For someone to say they do is a lie. We need to help one another in seeking the truth as opposed to perpetuating lies.

  • This guy makes more sense than anything I have heard so far - & he is telling the truth as it appears to me. The painting at 1:20 is great - Do not rock the grey city people they get angry, confused & aggressive when you speak to them of things outside of their croissants & latte machiato's.

  • Terence McKenna -> Genious

  • OMG I FINALLY UNDERSTAND TERRANCE MCKENNA!!!

  • @Foolinaround1 glad you do! :)

  • @Foolinaround1 Congratulations :D I suggest moving on to Alan Watts, as I did, it's brilliant :D That doesn't mean forgetting Terence though of course ;D

  • @KaiTendo174 I agree Alan Watts was an amazing speaker, and had a great way like Terence of communicating to the public. Also Kiddu Kristnamurti was in the same class in my opinion.

  • @tonytg909 Krishnamurti certainly is somewhere close by, I agree, he is also one of the legends of "our time" ;) Although I am not familiar with his work in detail... Possibly I will familiarize myself with it more some time in the future :)

  • Anyone know whos the painter name of the painting is at 1:20 , with all the workers going one way and the gentleman going the other

  • bless you for sharing this many people need to hear it or be reminded of this truth so Thank you for sharing

  • Would have liked this without the music competing for my attention

  • @lingh89 yeah, I begin to realize this years after I made this video. will take it strongly into consideration!

  • @Gaia1986 Negative. If they wanna hear TM without sound, they should listen to all his lectures. This is an extremely cool tribute you made, you should close it right there. Maybe you can add the lecture(s) in the description? peace!

(btw, making a tribute myself right now)

  • @Dennio83 hey man I'd appreciate if you'd add the lecture on yours. It's rather hard for me to find them (I've only got two, been thinking about uploading them on Utube). cy@round life bro

  • @MaximusDisplay you should look on TerenceMcKennaTube and McKennaArchive channels and subscribe to it ;)

  • @Dennio83 GREAT LINKS!!!!!!!!! the interviews are deep

  • @MaximusDisplay np. and yes, when Terence spoke, he went all the way ^^

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL

Number one learn how to spell psychedelics. Number two. Why look up to Einstein? He was an adulterous man who happened to be phenomenal at physics. Terrance McKenna? Just a man, both of them are just men. Not to be modeled after. They were just as imperfect as you. No better no worse. They chose their path choose your own you fool. Culture is your programming and you are choosing to program yourself. IDIOT!!!!

  • who is the artists @ 1:43?

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL Hello Chuck. I said that Terence McKenna was smarter than I am. You agreed. What is your problem? :)

  • There are three types of people who support drug prohibition.

    1. Those who legally gain employment, power and/or money by exploiting the victims of the war on drugs (ie. district attorneys, judges, lawyers, police officers, the prison industrial complex)

    2. Those who profit directly from the black market created by prohibition. (gangsters, drug cartels, mafia, etc.)

    3. Mildly retarded people who actually think that the government is protecting her citizens through prohibition.

  • strong fuckin words man

  • This guy was so much smarter than me..

  • If only everybody could do 1:38...

  • pink floyd-like song in the background

  • Genius. I'm very disappointed in my Barnes & Noble they only had one Mckenna book and it wasn't the one I was looking for but I did buy it anyway. He's fuckin smart! But he's not as smart as me!! lol

  • @snitchingISwrong Exactly, Terence was a true inspiration for all.

  • ALAN WATTS TERENCE MCKENNA MARSHALL MCLUHAN CARLOS CASTANEDA ALDOUS HUXLEY JACQUES FRESCO ROBERT ANTON WILSON JIDDU KRISHNAMURTI PAUL STAMETS GABOR MATE

  • @NDW21x You missed a few Alexander Shulgin,Stan Grof,Albert Hoffman,Timothy Leary,Ram Dass,Rick Struass.

  • anyone know the name of the painting at 1:21 mark?

  • @mdrusch It's an Alex Grey work. :)

  • that painting at 1:44 is awesome

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL i found out about him a while back but never looked into him too much but now I'm thinking how could I have? his perspectives are so refreshing, a wise man indeed

  • goddamit man, such terrence mckenna is such an epic human, if only todays entertainers and leaders thought the way he does. Today i'm going to watch all the terrence mckenna my time will allow and try to clear my life-time indoctrination in this bullshit american culture, i was going to go back to my fps videogame but fuck that for now lol

  • Craig Venter is not a government scientist. He is an anti-establishment scientist.

  • Read the description!

  • i usually don't like the back sound, but its quite fine on this one.

  • SO NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Thanks for spreading the message! ;-)

  • coffee is a drug too, so is sugar..

  • all u gotta do is think and u make a life out of it

  • hah, by listening to you and taking your advice, I'd actually be going against your message. How ironic :) Experience is key and I wholeheartedly agree with him, but why be pessimistic and assume everyone is telling lies? We're all in this together, not isolated islands or even tribes. For better or for worse, culture is here and will imprint subconscious messages in you, but I think when we observe and live above this, we are able to see a more lucid version of reality and know ourselves better

  • The painting at 1:20 makes me smile.

  • @camper9080 do you know who made it? i also felt the same way you did.

  • @camper9080 what is it... how do I look it up on google I mean.

  • @camper9080 me too, anyone know what its called?

  • @camper9080 what painting is it? I like it too

  • @camper9080 do you know the name of that picture?

  • Im a not promoting a drug use, but i think it would be important for humankind to understand psycedelic drugs better. We should have more specialist like mckenna to share the knowledge. For example, think about the music business, is it a coincidence that that we dont have any Pink floyd´s, Led Zeppelin´s, Jimi Hendrix´s nowadays. I think whole human race have taken a step back since 60´s in many ways. Those days were the last time people were seeking the thruth by themselves

  • @killedbydeath24 Society is mixed bag and I believe nowadays more confused then ever- highly charged and polar. But confusion occurs most often when you have too much info (spread between conscious and unconscious understanding) that you don't know how to mobilize effectively and it is possible that certain drugs can allow novel connections between info when used in the right way. Although I am sure that this is not the most popular opinion it is steadily being recognized in mainstream society.

  • @killedbydeath24 Wrong.

  • whats with the shitty music in the background. its annoying. you can't hear mckenna

  • @LedZepOnWeed I'm sorry...

  • @Gaia1986 oh well, no, its okay. i mean anyone who felt a deep serious understanding of mckenna would probably want to put dramatic music to increase the feel of it :P its all good man...but why did you say sorry if its not even your video though ? 0.o

  • Unconfirmable rumor...well said. Question authortiy and think for yourself.

  • Mis-use of the English language ("...on how to understanding yourself...") is a poor way to begin a thought, especially when you're telling people, nobody's smarter than they are! Sorry, especially in view of all the 'likes', but this is a lot of feel-good nonsense. People ARE smarter than you. Deal.

Sure, experience matters, but there's an unwarranted (and unearned) arrogance to dismissing knowledge. You understand "what is happening" by GETTING AN EDUCATION.

  • @WILLIAMCOOKE There are a myriad of ways to become educated, peculiar to each individual. And each individual constitutes a a part of "whats happening". If your in the habit of dismissing people because you find them uneducated, you may be missing out on some education. Seriously.

  • @SammmmmyG You INTEND to use the contraction, "You're", not "Your". Yes, there are billions of people and the spirit is infinite... blah, blah, blah. Sorry, TM's glorification of drug culture is crap. US education has dropped to 35th out of 57 countries in math, and 29th out of 57 in science. Today's problems are not going to be solved by transcending out to the "inner consciousness". Kids are arrogant, without reason, and that makes them vulnerable.

  • @WILLIAMCOOKE Mis use of the English language is the point. Language itself can be used as a weapon of control. Who is to prove what knowledge is real truth? Who proves what is the real reason behind the what and why things are taught? The truth only lies within yourself. "Education" can be used indoctrination. You can steer people into thinking what is real and what is being educated. Open mind and trusting yourself is the only true education.

  • great pictures to go along with great words

  • "What do you think when you take psilocybin?" Oh man I could go on for hours with the right people.. so much insight! transformation !

  • This is where Terence is at his best, by encouraging you to think for yourself and trust your own judgement. It is a message that can easily be misunderstood but he's essentially right. Ultimately the only thing we can take responsibility for is developing an active mind, exploring and testing competing hypothesis, and not mistaking anyone elses word for gospel.

  • The problem is no one is willing to stop no one is willing to give up and anything we do to give up only strengthens the doing. It is a hopeless situation. However, it is only hopeless in reference to the hope we have all been given.

  • Where might I find the original audio of Mckenna's speech (minus the music)? I'd like to compose some music of my own around it...

  • Wow, he is either really bright or a fool. In his "...humble opinion ....nobody understands what is happening, not Buddhists, not Christians, not government scientists, not you know, no one understands what is happening." I think Thomas Edison's understanding which lead him to invent the light bulb helped me a great deal.

  • @ALTERED13TH

McKenna isn't criticizing SMART people like Edison, hes pointing out that all the big institutions (religions, gov't) are claiming to know what is going on with god and the world, but are really FULL OF SHIT. Great quote comes to mind:

"Keep the company of those who are seeking the truth, but run from those who have found it"

PS: McKenna was neither a fool nor really bright.

He was bitchin' a total freakin GENIUS from mars!!

  • If you don't agree, you Don't understand what he is saying. Too bad you are not enlightened, I feel Sorry for you.

  • Comment removed

  • @NuteBoycdxx You're not enlightened either buddy. If enlightenment was easy then people wouldn't dedicate their entire lives to transforming the mind. Anyone who feels any desire to boast about their 'enlightened' status over youtube is clearly the one who should be felt sorry for.

  • @TRUESports09 you dont uderstand, and i am sorry for that.

  • @NuteBoycdxx I agree with this video 100%. With that said, the desire to boast of your enlightened status could arise from nowhere else other than the ego itself. Seems to me like your ego has you in its grip and is deceitfully tricking you into believing your state of mind is indeed enlightenment. I'm not questioning that you have gained spiritual wisdom. But to claim you're "enlightened" on a youtube video as a way of expressing superiority is paradoxical to the concept of enlightment itself.

  • @TRUESports09 wow, you are really not getting it. when did i ever say i was better than you or anyone else? when did i "boast" about myself? you must be taking my commet the wrong way. take a chill pill, all is well.

  • @NuteBoycdxx Maybe I did misunderstand you, but if I did can you please explain how you know you are "enlightened" besides a statement as shallow as "You don't understand, and I'm sorry for that." Would the Buddha ever make such a comment?

  • Everytime I feel like I am getting too heavy a dosage of commercial marketing and conditioning, I watch this video to purify my mind

  • Terrence McKenna on how to understanding yourself: grammar check please? Also it's pronounced "eye-dee-ology" not "ih-dee-ology" like the word "idiot", which is what Terrence McKenna is. I don't even want to hear someone say some BS like "His mispronunciation was ironic." No it's not. That guy invented so many words to try to sound intelligent. In reality, he was a drug addict who tried to make it seem socially acceptable. It's not. It just makes you a big idiot like that guy.

  • @JasonSims1984 - I can't say whether or not your opinion about Terence Mckenna is accurate because im still just learning about this dude.....but.... you do sound a bit narrow minded. Why are you so quick to slap these ideas down? Sounds pretty on point to me.... and if he's just a drug addict who is trying to make it seem socially acceptable then I applaud him because there's definitely realness in what he's relating it to....(our culture and so forth).

  • @JasonSims1984 The fact that you see it as an attempt to make drugs socially acceptable already illustrates your "boxed in" frame of mind... first of all....there are plenty of "drugs" that are socially acceptable and totally awful for us that are pushed on us by the same people who are supposedly fighting the war on drugs... (tylonal, caffeine... processed tobacco... alcohol) are you fighting the social acceptance of the abuse of those non-mind expanding drugs too? you're probably not.

  • @JasonSims1984 You must be one of those people who's mind is made up and don't want to be confused with facts. Anyone who knocks different mind states, are normally the last people who have actually tried it for themselves. Some people are blessed and some are not.

  • @JasonSims1984 The substances that McKenna endorsed are not addictive in any sense of the word. In fact, the visionary plants he endorsed (psilocybe mushrooms, ayahuasca, etc) are very introspective and require an amount of courage to endure their personally revealing experiences.

Today's society's endorse drugs that either increase productivity (caffeine, sugar), or resist introspection (alcohol, prescription opioids).

That is where our loss of values originates, lack of introspection.

  • 1:18 best foto wish everyone done this, we would be goig somwhere great instead of stuck in this reality

  • Truely the Copernicus of consciousness

  • Has anyone noticed that if you keep up with the latest scientific research and developments it's all leading to what the so called "Guru's" have been trying to say for 100's even 1000's of years now, that this existence is nothing but pure consciousness.

  • 17 people are not smarter than anybody!

  • ***** Excellent!

  • True every word

  • The picture at 1:16 is cute. I had to save it. Super-relevant.

  • 1:18 personally enjoyed that pic

  • Leary, Lennon, Love and Laughs...just a few names and simple yet complicated words that can almost clearly state that it is the experience that matters. Not the spoils or the anticipation. Live in and for the moment! You have such potential, yet 99.9% of you hide under the covers when parents speak of the monsters. Live, learn, love and then leave, Earth (TERRA) that is. God bless you all!

  • Life is.

  • Krishnamurti said, "Truth is a pathless land."

  • Art by Ciaran Shaman @ 1:36

  • Think for yourself and question authority!!!

  • I understand, Terrance is just too high...

I also understand whats he do nit

  • @belley669 He is sure a Dreamer but not the only one

  • @Zahajko damm loll

  • 777 likes, i was gonna be 778th but ill let it be

  • @turbulence1992 ahahaha same

  • I think the message is, no matter how smart someone is they cannot give You the answers. We're all very much alone, and through accepting our aloneness we can generate an understanding of, and basis for, togetherness.

  • i wish people would post his words without the music and naff pics, so off putting but thanks for sharing this :)

  • Came in a hater - left a believer. Strong words.

  • @zeezeegloo What a gracious comment..... much love to you.... namaste

  • Can someone tell me what the painting shown at 1:19 is called? I really liked it

  • @niterocket Tilbage til naturen (back to nature) by Robert Storm Petersen.

  • So has anyone here ever had a philosophical revelation when fucking? LoL.

  • I had similar thought when I woke up this afternoon, "I should take responsibility of my own action"

  • goddamn music bothered the hell out of me

  • We must push for the full legalization of magic mushrooms. These shrooms have been used for thousands of years before Christianity for religious purposes but they are still illegal. Shame on the DEA for their war on religious freedom.

  • Im 16 too and i fucking love Terence Mckenna and psychoactive drugs :) I know alot of you are with me, i think its time we had another counter culture revolution, another hippy era, i would deff be down for a Summer of Love Round 2 :D

    Peace

  • I'm in Colorado now. Its a trippy place : )

  • thankyou, Terence :)

  • Nobody is smarter than you = Nominating yourself for the Darwin Awards

  • What is the painting of the grey suited people going into the grey building and the other guy wandering off into the greenage? I want to find it online but I'm not sure how to search that. Anybody know who the artist is?

  • @freedomisrising Tilbage til naturen (back to nature) by Robert Storm Petersen.

  • Fuck, get rid of the super annoying music behind this video!

  • They always kill the good guys, Bill hicks, George carlin, and many many more...
