being a trek man i would always pick the trek bikes! be it the lower end 1.1 or the high end madones, the solidity they offer is second to none! the differences between the 2009 and 2010 model is that the 2010 model now has lighter components, the new full carbon aeolus wheels by bontrager and a generally improved stiffness. if you are looking to buy one of these models, i recommend the 2010 just for the new improvements but a discounted 2009 model would be just as good as well as good value!

Yeah...whatever! That whole sloping top tube and compact frame idea is 100% Giant. Giant sells WAY more bikes than Trek will ever dream of; moreover, Giant manufactures about 60% of all private label brand bikes on the market....Trek is a crappy company made famous because of Lance. Most cat1-3 racers who have to procure their own bikes never buy a Trek....great "show" bike though. Kind of like comparing and American Staffordshire to a Pit Bull Terrier(the real deal!)
I guess you have no idea about cycling! Lance is not the only one famous who rides on trek. Do you ever heard about Chris Etough, who won the MTB-champioship 6 times on a trek, or alberto contador, winner of the tour de france 2007??!!
i have a 5.1 and it is the best bike ive every riden. i came offof a trek 1000 and i can avrage 3 mph faster (20-23). very fast bike. it rides nothing like i have ever tested. i would highly recomend buying a madone to any rider.
