Oh .. my lord .. I can't imagine New Yorkers waiting 6 minutes for a train to cross... they won't even wait the 45 seconds it takes a 5 car train to run down the Bushwick Branch and cross Morgan Avenue
@LvilleRyder I believe they still run a train out to Pillsbury on Grant Line Road very occasionally. That's Vernia siding. They can't run trains past there because there are cars stored all along the line up to Mitchell.
Oh yes. I've seen some interesting things before when a train goes into emergency and ties the whole town up. NS has control of the track from the South Switch at Vernia (Beechwood Avenue) all the way through and across the bridge. This dates back from the days of K&I control.
Can't be Q686 as it is coming south. Probably Q687. It's crossing Elm Street in your video. Thanks much for sharing with us. I remember August 8, 1993 when CSX started running trains on the former Monon again. Now the line is a parking lot north of New Albany and nothing is served except for Pillsbury.
I'll correct the location on the map. I could not remember the street. They were running some huge trains down this line back then. They had one go into emergency down there one Saturday and it caused a real mess for the traffic in New Albany. The radio traffic was interesting because NS had to coordinate with CSX getting them into the yard.

Nice video! Do you know if this section of the rail line (from Charlestown Rd down to the river) is still in use?
