No one made trialers like Hitchcock. At one time trailers were a small art unto themselves that show you just enough to tweek your curiousity, but today everything is told up front and sometimes gives away the entire movie---the remaining scenes are merely filler to an otherwise bad movie. Frenzy is one of my favorite Hitchcock films and contained all the elements he liked to play with without the restictions of censorship. Unfortunately, he did follow up with anything in a similar vein.
No point. A person is atheist if this person claim he is atheist. To be not religious doesn't mean you be atheist. Some said AH was an atheist. I doubt. Only if AH claimed to be a committed atheist I can admit he was an atheist. On the contrary, the plots of his films show AH highly influenced by his catholicism.
I love this film but my wife hates it. I guess its not really a chick flick.
For many years whenever this film was shown on TV the infamous rape/ murder scene was cut to virtualy nothing and sadly they even cut the shot of Barbara Leigh Hunt with her tongue stuck out.
Now we get to see the scene in full which is great and i always thought the shot of the victim staring back ,eyes bulging,tongue lolling was quite funny. Its only a film and a bloody good one too. Thanks Hitch.
That last shot was a bit much. I mean, the strangling of the woman itself was quite intense and brutal. You could practically hear the tie being knotted tighter and tighter up against her Adam's Apple. And that gurgling, gasping sound she was making during the scene almost made it sound as if it were real.
In my opinion, this movie ranks in the top five of Hitchcock's films.
Hitch was nearing the end of his life when he made this film, and yet this movie has an energy and dynamism that feels as though it were made by a much younger director.
And of course, this movie has much of the trademark black humor that Hitch was known for.
Where can I find the rape scene please? Barbara Leighs tits are great. {Okay, I know its a double}. Was Hitchcock an atheist?? Did he really not believe in God, or that God didn't care?? We see the woman pray, and nothing. All throughout the scene the Crucifix is present, coupled with the womans anguish. A very strong statement by Mr Hitchcock.

Yes he was an atheist who was raised by the Jesuits, which explains both the surfeit of religious imagery and the grim realism in his films.
