I had an endoscopy once before. I had a terrible cold at the time and they still did it. No numbing, either (yrs ago). BLECH! Hope your surgery went really well and you are recuperating. My best thoughts and prayers are with you.
endoscopy procedures suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate them. But I really understand why they have to do them... It was more uncomfortable than my surgery.. but if I didn't have it - they wouldn't have known if my stomach was in ok condition to operate - so it was a good thing.... even though it was a terrible experience. Yes, my surgery did go well. I ended up getting the gastric sleeve instead of the bypass - and I am excited about it.
lol I didn't have a problem with hearing her talking.. but she was talking so loud that people 2 rooms over could hear her lol... she went home though... My new roommate is nice.
omg two rooms over she must have been realy loud the would bother me too. I wonder if the nurses could hear her out in the hall. They should have told her to keep it down alitle. I have never had an endoscopy but it does not look fun not one bit I have seen people realy gag so hard that they throw up .

thank you! lol... thanks for the hats off... I didn't think I could manage the endoscopy, but I knew I wanted this surgery for myself - for a better and healthier life... I am just working now - on getting better.
I hope all went yesterday for your surgery. I had a gastroscopy several years ago with just the local anesthetic but they gave me valium etc. so I was really groggy. I have a very active gag reflex also but except for the last 30 seconds or so when the freezing started off. Preop they waited until I was in the OR for the RNY and under anesthetic and did the gastroscopy then just before my surgery. If they had found something they would have canceled the surgery.
yeah it was a pretty crappy experience, but I know the necessity of it.. and I am glad they did it... they had said my stomach looked perfect and was fine for surgery - without that they wouldn't have known.. I'm grateful the doctor and his assistant were so sweet and caring and very understanding - and patient with my fear...

wow - sounds like they really put you through it ! but you are right if you want the surgery you are prolly willing to do just about anything ! you looked well i hope your recovery continues to go well and that you will be home soon

i had mine with jsut the numbing spray as well. the only part i didnt like was when they stuck it in i couldnt breathe and when they pulled it out i couldnt breathe! im happy for you and i hope things are going well!

I never had to get an endoscopy, and I'm sooo glad I didn't! I think it's great that you put this out there - because it's NOT a walk in the park. Right now, you may even be in recovery! Sending big hugs your way and thinking of you! (PS - Get used to the phone ringing and the roommate issues....that happens the whole time you're there. lol)

LOL about the endoscopy, been there done that and will never EVER have it again without being knocked out.......lol I gagged from start to finish then balled out the nurse for not putting me out...she said it was easy....grrr Congrats on being on the other side!! Look forward to updates.

yes, they really did... but it's their job... and I went into the surgery, knowing that my stomach was ready for it - and healthy... so everything went great. I'm working on getting better. Still sore and weak, but getting a little better every day.
