no I didn't. To get to where I am now, I did a lot of research. I went to a lot websites, picked up DVD's, watched and asked engineers questions as they work. And took all the information I learned and tried to apply it to my own music. With a lot of experimentation.
There are techniques to miking a drum kit. and what mics to use. But it does take experimentation to find the right sound. For videos about it, look it up on youtube. or type in 'drum miking' in a search engine, and you'll find a lot of info
Westbury is better than most people thoughts. Nicely tuned... it sounds great. Although, it is not quality crafted drums and the worst of it is hardware.
I've used the westbury kit on tons of shows, and when it's well tuned, good mics, and throw some eq and comp on there and it sounds great. The only thing i'd keep on that set is the kick drum, with the right head it can sound awesome.
Very good but... 2:52 should be one loud hit on hi-hat :)

Really, in case of sickness you should have been the one they chose to replace him. Clean, straight drumming - excellent!

what kind of snare are you using in this?
Bsommer100 3 years ago
It's just a cheap westbure snare. But with the right heads and good tuning, I can make it sound great. Adding some eq helps too
