  • I loved watching here TV show; that is how old I am.

  • Beautiful song...

  • die hard 2 .. lolololol

  • i cant help but shiver at "vvvilleggess"

  • Just wonderful: Patti was among the first artists to take advantage of the technology invented by Les Paul and multitrack her voice in this marvelous recording

  • this is not the first version of the song, right?

    forgive my poor english...

  • @eddobh Yes, this is definitely the original hit from the summer of 1957.

  • Ohmygoodness, is this not the most gorgeous thing you've ever heard?! All those beautiful bent harmonies and perfect orchestration! I love Patti Page and I think this is just about the most beautiful thing she ever recorded. Exquisite!

  • groove armada rock, mad men is great, and patti page is timeless

  • in cornwall now, and this is such a great song for here

  • Clip is beautiful, but IT IS DEFINITELY NOT CAPE COD VIEWS, which mislead people. It's like likely France shore of Mediterranean Sea.

  • At the River is my fav song by Groove Armada, but then Don Draper blessed me w/ the sample, thumbs up for Mad Men

  • Gawd, this takes me back. Tail gunner on the back of a pterodactyl shredding Nazi-vampires with .50 caliber machineguns. Those were the days.

  • @FelisDestructicus This was written in 57 sorry bro no nazi Germany then

  • "my name is marve, im just a janitor, I thought you were gonna steal my records, thats all!"

  • I live on cape cod... I feel special now.

  • Beautiful song. Would have been better with pictures of Cape Cod.

  • <3 by the river

    <3 clovelly

  • Die Hard 2 brought me here

  • @MissMayakashi

Another basement, another elevator, how can the same thing happen to the same guy twice?

  • @MissMayakashi

Esperanza: Where the hell is Colonel Stuart?

  • A wonderful song -- one of so many from a wonderful era. It was a great time to be alive. Thankfully, the music still can bring back good memories. This was always one of my favorites. Would like to have seen some video of Cape Cod on this but Thanks for the upload....

  • This song does make me think of the town where I was born, New Bedford MA. Where the people are wonderful..... the sea is fantastic.... and the lighthouses are simply lovely.

  • It does remind me of where I was born... New Bedford MA. I love New England... I love the coast..... and I love lighthouses.

  • Hidden Hollow anyone?

  • 13 people don't like lobster stew... especially by a window with an ocean view

  • Heard this on MAD MEN!! :)

    love it

  • yes, heard it on Mad Men and ran like a schoolgirl to confirm

  • lmao, half of us found it cause of Die Hard 2 XD, funny.

  • Best version

  • A lovely song beautifully sung with wonderful pictures. Thanks for posting.

  • its great ,BUT, why cant we watch scenes of cape cod instead of cornwell . i guess it dosent really matter too much anyway

  • I heard of a Disco Stu, but never a Lobster Stu. Does Lobster Stu do disco?

  • Mad Men, anyone?

  • My summer camp plays this at the final dance, the hidden hollow hop. This song makes me feel like im right back there. I love you HHC!

  • Too bad none of those photos are actually pictures of Cape Cod.

  • if i ever hit the lottery defnly would quietly live in cape cod

  • Heard this in Mad Men

  • this song is of cape cod ierland, LOL

  • beautiful video; I lived there in Pocasset and went to Peebles school when it first opened in 1955 or 56. We lived on Picture Lake and my dad made a little beach behind our cabin. The cabins were run at that time by Picture Lake Motel. They even rented out rowboats in the summer and we ice skated on the lake in winter. Loved it.

  • this song is a soudntrack of the movie "a good year" , is great (Y)

  • would have been interesting to have it played at sunset at a certain beach in ibiza

  • I did the same as well! Wow, Die Hard II is popular around Christmas... :)

  • Die hard 2 is on and I just heard this, lol such a strange song for a macho movie I just had to look it up!

  • @ERiCDrAyViN I did the same

  • @doublementerprises I did the same as well! Wow, Die Hard II is popular around Christmas... :)

  • the effect on her her voice reminds me emogen heap - hide and seek.

  • Thanks for the upload, it's beautiful.

  • I had to watch the full credits of Die Hard 2 to find out who was singing this great song.

  • Grazie per questo distacco. . . Ho sentito la canzone su 'Mad Menaltra notte e lo ha riportato tanti ricordi. . . Ahhhhh. . gli innocenti

  • @riceboi247 lol me 2 :)

  • Cornwall, must be the Malibu of the U.K.!. Very beautiful, I believe that's the

town where the" Doc Martin Series" ( Martin Clunes) takes place. My wife

and I love it on P.B.S.

  • @feever2000 It is indeed, and also Sam Peckinpah's "Straw Dogs"! :) Nevertheless it is a very nice part of the Country.

  • hahahahaha imagine if kids that listen to the groove armarda version heard there parents play this

  • @riceboi247 That's why I'm here too!

  • this area is the beautiful area off moushole lands end and st micheals mount at marazion we were there 3 weeks ago lovely weather and this cd came on while we were around there

  • i have got this on dreamboats and petticoats, when i put the cd on this was on it,guess where i put it on in cornwall on holidays sure does remind me of those lobster pots at mousehole pronouced mouzhole in cornish sennen cove and all the other quaint little fishing villages downtheir lovely placesto visit

  • love it on die hard 2, marvin was afraid the cop would steal his record,he was right.

  • @almareme same! That's where I heard the song from & I loved it too. Go Marv!

  • I'm gonna be mad at Hurricane Earl!!!

  • She had a beautiful voice. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • The way Patti's magical voice can melt its way into your heart is an instant trip to Cape Cod. You can smell the salty air, taste the lobster stew, see the moonlight on the bay, and hear an angel sing like no other. Today's singers don't even come close !! Thanks for the visit to the Cape, Patti. When you're there you know she really nailed it !! l i s t e n........... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Maybe it would be nice to put the pictures of Cape Cod instead of other places. Just saying

  • I hope nobody is offended, but Groove Armada made an AMAZING song with this beautiful song. It's called At the River. IT HAS LAZER GUN SOUNDS!

  • wow... i like this song but the first time i heard of it was from Groove Armada's "At the River" so my head was seeing someone loving the dessart or some middle eastern thing... Cape Cod plug, huh... crazy.

  • Thank you for posting this...I heard the song on 'Mad Men' the other night and it brought back so many memories...ahhhhh ..the innocent '50's.

  • nice! i just heard it from Mad Men s4 e3

  • Lovely video, and Cornwall is indeed very beautiful, but it's not very much like Cape Cod; if you're looking for an equivalent landscape in the UK, the coast of Norfolk is quite a bit more like it.

  • This is beautiful. I take it this is Cornwall, England, yes? Lovely!

  • Wow - I'm sitting at the end of Cape Cod (Provincetown) right now, and just happened to click on this video. Cornwall is not Cape Cod, but it's sure beautiful all the same! That castle with the arial shot is breathtaking! Great vid!!

  • I've been traveling all over the Cape my entire life and have never seen any of these places! The highest elevation anywhere is about 15' above sea level so where have these pictured bluffs come from? And the ledges-- what about those?

  • @salemconn : It's already said in the description. It's Cornwall in the UK.

  • I want to live there!!

  • Can my eyes actually be so clever as to recognize the village of Looe after one brief holiday afternoon (from Arizona)! If so, we climbed up that hill at 0:46 & went a good mile beyond on a day just as beautiful as this, whilst it was gray all day in Liskeard. And the whole next day in Eden Project as well! But, we were covered of course! Wonderful comfort in the Mediterranean biome, much like my Arizona. Wretched damp in the tropical biome, like the Florida I escaped from 29 years ago!

  • Wonderful video and of course the greatest ever recording of this standard.

  • good song i had to hear the origanel. i heard the puppini sisters do this and holy crap it's sooooo close to this its unreal.

  • Amazing video! Thank you for sharing!

  • I was born in New Bedford MA. but hadn't visited Cape Cod until just a couple of years ago. lovely.

  • 'Im Marv, Marv, Marv. I just thought you were trying to steal my records thats all, I'm just the janitor'

    Gotta love Die Hard 2!!!!

  • heh chicanes sand dunes, i never knew... until i too, watched die hard..lol

  • A great song put to a beautiful place! I visited Cornwall back in the early 80s and still remember it fondly!

  • Heard this song, saw this video, and now I'm misty-eyed and homesick...GOOD NEWS::::P'town for FIVE days in July...still misty-eyed...oxox

  • Makes me want to go there ---right now !! Bill Nix

  • It took me over 50 years to get to Cape Cod. That's when I first heard Patti Page's Old Cape Cod in Los Angeles and knew I wanted to go. Now I live an 1-1/2 hours away. And yes, I've finally been there and going tomorrow, too, I hope?

  • Wow, I felt like I had a vacation on Cape Cod!

  • Yep pretty wonderful!

  • This is a remarkable song and harmonies--and though before my time of understanding, its REALLY WONDERFUL. We need this kind of music today!

    Larry

  • Bette Midler does an absolutely fabulous version of this on her album "Songs For The New Depression".

  • Nice

  • Dreamy and slow. Beautiful pictures of Cornwall...but they sure dont look a thing like the Cape.

  • @somersetdc ...I agree but still wonderful. I live about an hour from Cape Cod.

  • musica que se oye en la jungla 2

  • Cape Cod Sucks!

  • You Suck!

  • I have always loved this song. It originally came out in 1957. I enjoyed the video seen here. Maybe this is England's version of Cape Cod.

  • woooooooooooooow *.*

  • I saw Patti Page perform at Disneyland in 1969. I knew she was a pretty big deal, but I was too young to appreciate what I was watching.

  • that looks nothing like cape cod

  • Beautiful. It sounds great too at Groove Armada's "At the River"

  • Wow! Brilliant..love the scenery...

  • Patti Page is an Angel & that song was made for her! Good Video! Thanks

  • Truro :) good times there....these lyrics sum it up really well!!

  • Very well written and very well sung. Only a handful of beautiful songs that i place in this catergory. The harmony is second to none. WOW thank you Patti Page....

  • Beautiful beaches-how sad pollution is destroying everything in the name of progress and ever bludgeoning destructive power of growing human population nearing 7 billion. Now even the fish 100% is full of mercury poison. But it's nice to hear this music of times gone by forevermore-gone-but we can remember.

  • Takes me back to summers in Chatham. To bad the pics are somewhere in Europe not the Cape.

  • The pictures are of Cornwall, England - which has quaint little villages, just like Cape Cod! ;-)

  • This song is beautifull. It somehow remindes me of Fallout 3...

  • Yeah too bad It's not included in Fallout 3. I learnt of this song via the movie Die Hard 2 lol.

  • @Avantime fuck yeah me too

  • I was looking at a map of the US and found Cape Cod. I'd love to go, only because of this song!

  • I've always considered this version of this song to be perfection. Patti's best, I think.

  • I've always considered this version of this song to be perfection. Patti's best, I think.

  • I love your video..it makes me want to go to Old Cape Code

  • I love the song but that is not Cape Cod! It looks like some place across the pond.

  • Part of this song as most of you will probably know was used to interesting effect by 'groove armada' in their hypnotic track 'At the River'. I knew I'd heard the song before but took me a while to realise where.

  • crestadent you sound like me.... I too heard it in the movie, "A Good Year". I had remembered hearing the song from years ago but felt like hearing it in it's entirety. I look up lots of songs I hear in movies. But I do love current things too. I really like some of the contestants on X Factor out of England such as Danyl Johnson, Stacey Soloman, Joseph McElderry also people like Michael Franti in Say Hey (I love you), Simon and Garfunkel, groups from the 60's. I guess the entire spectrum.

  • I heard this song for the first time in the movie A GOOD YEAR with Russell Crow which is ironically set in France. Great song. It still resonates to this day even though it was recorded a long time ago. Patti Page was a great singer. This

  • Thanks for posting this. Love this song.

  • I remember this song when I was a little girl. It STILL sounds great! By the way,

Bette Midler and Anne Murray did some great versions of it.

But Patti beats them all. :)

  • I just love this song and even more when I went there. Webluke, what language is that?

  • It's Japanese. Just fyi :)

  • I'm living this song and everything she says is true.

  • Marv.. my name's Marv. I thought you were trying to steal my record... that's all.

  • @69poursuite59

Esperanza: Where the hell is Colonel Stuart?

  • This is a great song from an era long gone. If music was politics, this song would fix our nation's problems.

  • What a beautiful video and "Old Cape Cod" is one of my favorite songs...Thanks for this treat...

  • the voice-over harmony is awesome...she may have pioneered it

  • I was hoping i would find this..gorgeous and the scenes are breathtaking; beautiful job! and of course what can i say about Patti and "old Cape Cod" one of my all time favorites...

  • Throughout the summer of 1957 this was a HUGE hit for us here in southern New England. Wherever you went it was playing. Such a lush, gentle song. "The Singing Rage: Miss Patti Page" really did this song justice.

  • I'm sure John F. Kennedy loved this song. He was so fond of Cape Cod and his summer home of Hyannisport.

  • .... this song was played at president kennedys wedding to jackie...!

  • This was a HUGE hit for us here in southern New England during the summer of 1957. I was 13 and remember you couldn't go anywhere that summer without hearing this several times a week....restaurants, car radios, beauty parlours, etc. It was everywhere. It still hasn't lost its lush, romantic caress to the human soul. Thanks for the memories!

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever!!!!

  • I first heard this song in Bruce Willis Die Hard 2...and if i'm not mistaken in Russell Crowe A Good Year...wow i just love the old school singers.....

  • i heard this sampled in a Groove Armada song, and i must say i like this to pretty well :)

  • @lodie311 same to me.

  • and you're also very funny. It was a hit in the early to mid '50's, so if you're a youngster you're excused...

  • thanks this is perfect, and the photos....

  • clovelly is in devon not cornwall

  • yesssss i was trying to think of what the film was ! lol

  • Beautiful ! thanks for posting.

  • I'm a life-long fan of the great Patti Page-lucky enough to have seen her about 9 years ago in Atlantic City. And Cape Cod is a unique gem.I think she pioneered the voice -over harmonies-all her-in this remarkably evocative tune.

  • me too...it was marvin's record...

  • No, it's not a fake, but it IS studio gadgetry. All the voices are Patti Page, layered on top of each other. Lovely, isn't it??

Thanks for the video; it really complements the song beautifully.

  • Overdubbing?

  • It's not fake, but it is studio gadgetry. All the voices are Patti Page, layered on top of each other. Isn't it lovely??

  • my first impression was that this is some studio gagetry, producing these incredible harmonies, ive never heard this patti page version before, its simply superb, someone please tell me this isnt fake!!

  • beautiful time....beautiful song...wished songs today were more like this one...Patti Page..what a treasure...

  • thanks to the beautiful Patti Page song & the beautiful Cornwall!

  • I love the Groove Armada version of this song, but this is amazing

  • They did this song justice....

  • Perfect I love this song and when I heard it I immedietly thought of Cornwall which I also love. Thank you

  • I thought the ones singing this song was the McGuire Sisters. Such a pretty song.

  • Heard this song off A Good Year...marvelous it is!

  • right you are, yoda!

  • rofl , yoda comment was funny as ....

  • what is the name of that castle at 0.57?

  • dunno but an amazing castle it is. can you believe such things exist? breathtaking.

  • It;s St Michael's Mount in Cornwall, England

  • looks like saint micheals mount in cornwall

  • I first heard this song as a sample of a cover on a Groove Armada Remix. Later to find out they had a slower version called At the River. I fell in love with the song.

Some 5 years later while watching a documentary on TV I heard a track in the background with familiar lyrics - but a much older sound, I discovered the original artist being Patti Page. Recorded half a century ago it is one of the most pleasant things to hit my ears.

  • I believe this is the original 50's version. If not, it still is the best one Patti page made!!!

  • I get this song stuck in my head a lot

  • Es un tema delicioso!!!

    También me lo llevo, ja!

    5 *

  • What's Moby's version of the song called?

  • you noob, its groove armada with at the river

  • Think it is Air that used the sample not Moby.

  • lol its groove armarda...

  • Moby does a neat version with this song.

  • sublime images of Cornwall.

  • I like the song, I like Cape Cod (particularly Provincetown ;-)) but I really love the Cornish coast!! thanks for posting.
