Just wonderful: Patti was among the first artists to take advantage of the technology invented by Les Paul and multitrack her voice in this marvelous recording
Ohmygoodness, is this not the most gorgeous thing you've ever heard?! All those beautiful bent harmonies and perfect orchestration! I love Patti Page and I think this is just about the most beautiful thing she ever recorded. Exquisite!
A wonderful song -- one of so many from a wonderful era. It was a great time to be alive. Thankfully, the music still can bring back good memories. This was always one of my favorites. Would like to have seen some video of Cape Cod on this but Thanks for the upload....
This song does make me think of the town where I was born, New Bedford MA. Where the people are wonderful..... the sea is fantastic.... and the lighthouses are simply lovely.
beautiful video; I lived there in Pocasset and went to Peebles school when it first opened in 1955 or 56. We lived on Picture Lake and my dad made a little beach behind our cabin. The cabins were run at that time by Picture Lake Motel. They even rented out rowboats in the summer and we ice skated on the lake in winter. Loved it.
this area is the beautiful area off moushole lands end and st micheals mount at marazion we were there 3 weeks ago lovely weather and this cd came on while we were around there
i have got this on dreamboats and petticoats, when i put the cd on this was on it,guess where i put it on in cornwall on holidays sure does remind me of those lobster pots at mousehole pronouced mouzhole in cornish sennen cove and all the other quaint little fishing villages downtheir lovely placesto visit
The way Patti's magical voice can melt its way into your heart is an instant trip to Cape Cod. You can smell the salty air, taste the lobster stew, see the moonlight on the bay, and hear an angel sing like no other. Today's singers don't even come close !! Thanks for the visit to the Cape, Patti. When you're there you know she really nailed it !! l i s t e n........... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
wow... i like this song but the first time i heard of it was from Groove Armada's "At the River" so my head was seeing someone loving the dessart or some middle eastern thing... Cape Cod plug, huh... crazy.
Lovely video, and Cornwall is indeed very beautiful, but it's not very much like Cape Cod; if you're looking for an equivalent landscape in the UK, the coast of Norfolk is quite a bit more like it.
Wow - I'm sitting at the end of Cape Cod (Provincetown) right now, and just happened to click on this video. Cornwall is not Cape Cod, but it's sure beautiful all the same! That castle with the arial shot is breathtaking! Great vid!!
I've been traveling all over the Cape my entire life and have never seen any of these places! The highest elevation anywhere is about 15' above sea level so where have these pictured bluffs come from? And the ledges-- what about those?
Can my eyes actually be so clever as to recognize the village of Looe after one brief holiday afternoon (from Arizona)! If so, we climbed up that hill at 0:46 & went a good mile beyond on a day just as beautiful as this, whilst it was gray all day in Liskeard. And the whole next day in Eden Project as well! But, we were covered of course! Wonderful comfort in the Mediterranean biome, much like my Arizona. Wretched damp in the tropical biome, like the Florida I escaped from 29 years ago!
It took me over 50 years to get to Cape Cod. That's when I first heard Patti Page's Old Cape Cod in Los Angeles and knew I wanted to go. Now I live an 1-1/2 hours away. And yes, I've finally been there and going tomorrow, too, I hope?
Very well written and very well sung. Only a handful of beautiful songs that i place in this catergory. The harmony is second to none. WOW thank you Patti Page....
Beautiful beaches-how sad pollution is destroying everything in the name of progress and ever bludgeoning destructive power of growing human population nearing 7 billion. Now even the fish 100% is full of mercury poison. But it's nice to hear this music of times gone by forevermore-gone-but we can remember.
Part of this song as most of you will probably know was used to interesting effect by 'groove armada' in their hypnotic track 'At the River'. I knew I'd heard the song before but took me a while to realise where.
crestadent you sound like me.... I too heard it in the movie, "A Good Year". I had remembered hearing the song from years ago but felt like hearing it in it's entirety. I look up lots of songs I hear in movies. But I do love current things too. I really like some of the contestants on X Factor out of England such as Danyl Johnson, Stacey Soloman, Joseph McElderry also people like Michael Franti in Say Hey (I love you), Simon and Garfunkel, groups from the 60's. I guess the entire spectrum.
I heard this song for the first time in the movie A GOOD YEAR with Russell Crow which is ironically set in France. Great song. It still resonates to this day even though it was recorded a long time ago. Patti Page was a great singer. This
I was hoping i would find this..gorgeous and the scenes are breathtaking; beautiful job! and of course what can i say about Patti and "old Cape Cod" one of my all time favorites...
Throughout the summer of 1957 this was a HUGE hit for us here in southern New England. Wherever you went it was playing. Such a lush, gentle song. "The Singing Rage: Miss Patti Page" really did this song justice.
This was a HUGE hit for us here in southern New England during the summer of 1957. I was 13 and remember you couldn't go anywhere that summer without hearing this several times a week....restaurants, car radios, beauty parlours, etc. It was everywhere. It still hasn't lost its lush, romantic caress to the human soul. Thanks for the memories!
I first heard this song in Bruce Willis Die Hard 2...and if i'm not mistaken in Russell Crowe A Good Year...wow i just love the old school singers.....
I'm a life-long fan of the great Patti Page-lucky enough to have seen her about 9 years ago in Atlantic City. And Cape Cod is a unique gem.I think she pioneered the voice -over harmonies-all her-in this remarkably evocative tune.
