I blew the tranny up in my 90GTZ years ago. Drive a 5th Gen prelude now. Far faster than the GTZ ever was.

Never heard of a blown tranny in a stock GTZ before. But 90-91 tranny sucked big time due to terrible gearing. I have a blue 92 GTZ with the shorter gearing and W41 cams and chip. Goes so much better than my old 91 GTZ. I achieved 145 mph on the german autobahn, GPS measured. It`s not as fast as a 220+ hp Prelude of course but I think it does quite ok

It had Ported& Polished 086 head w41 cams and custom 8k rpm chip, port matched intake and exhaust manifolds short side dumper exhaust hi-flow cat, and short ram intake. The tranny disintegrated inside. Secondary shaft blew into the bell housing gears tore themselves to bits. It was an aluminum drum full of steel and brass shrapnel when I opened it up. 5th Gen Prelude is 200 HP(except Euro SiR, and jap type s), tops out at 155 at 8000 RPM. It simply runs out of gear. Wish they came 6 speed...
