bharathanatyam training has given her the extra sharpness in her kuchipudi....beautiful impressive kuchipudi with very precise sharp movements...never seen this sharpness in any kuchipudi dancers so far....GOD BLESS YOU mammmm!!!!

Just watched a performance of hers yesterday - brilliant! Moved even a non-admirer of dance like me. South Indian dance forms are alive and kicking (no pun intended) in Kolkata...great work, Kalamandalam!

I'm no expert but I think the dance and dancer certainly have elements of Kuchipudi. Note costume and hair arrangement; some arm movements typical of Kuchipudi; even the general fluidity of choreography...

Whatever the style, it's a tremendous performance.

this is kuchupudi...u wont find some movements here in bharata natyam. and u can see through the elaborate hair and the costume that its kuchupudi.

this is most definitely kuchipudi because bharatanatyam has a completely different hairstyle and feet movements.

I've seen both Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, and I have relatives and friends who practice either or both. This performance is definitely Kuchipudi. The arm and feet movements and of course the choreography are different from that of Bharatanatyam

The artists name is Malabika Sen from Calcutta, India. She is a Bharatanatyam & Kuchipudi performe&the leading member of the Kalamandalam Performing Wing. She is just back from a tour of Kuwait with the KPW.Sorry,no video available to be posted on net nor any video rec available on the stands.
