@aircombact2001 The gearbox in itself is the same as the gearbox of a manual version, but has no clutch pedal and missed the gear knob with its linkage to gearbox. Plus, it has a fluid hydro system actuator, which makes the gear changes. That's all. Common mistakes of the Selespeed system are not enough fluid in the accumulator, electronic faults (ex. fuses, cables), missed calibration (it takes about five minutes and requires an OBD II KKL cable and a notebook)
@mesa155 oh yeah, thanks for the reply. I m actually more worried about the actuator, since locally we had a large number of cars with problems in the actuator. The local dealer's solution was to completely change it, a part which is very costly in itself :(
Chevrolet Epica is the 2.0 engine has 144 hp and 0 to 100km is 9.4 Segude. Of course never be compared between a Chevrolet and an alpha but maybe this model can be and for the price of a Chevrolet I think it is lower. greetings!
Alfa Selespeed is a kind of robotised sequential gearshift system. This is one thing why this car is interesting. Chevrolet Epica is a good choice for its price, nice and huge - i never try it .

anyone want to buy mine car in sydney. 02black tan interior time belt replaced last 8 months. replaced actuator cat converter, gear box, speed sensor, abs sensor, car in sydney excellent condition and well looked after. replacement in total cost me $12,000 all with receipt from alfa provided all yours for $14,000..please take it!
My mother drives an 02 Selespeed. You would think because the car was a little different they would of improved on it but yes at 55000k's the clutch has gone and the transmission has always had problems since new.
I drive a 2000 156 TS manual and honestly could not pick a fault :) The clutch was changed at 120,000kms

Great car and lots of fun, especially on the downchange from high revs. My only gripe is that it isn't as responsive in the corners as the 1.8 TS I had before it. But with that 2.0 lump and that big, heavy Selesystem upfront, that's to be expected and it makes for a great sports cruiser without getting into M5 kind of money.
What about problems with the selespeed gearbox? anyone had any ? ?

The Selespeed is an absolute PIECE OF SHIT! It is the worst ever transmission..... Lasts only about 80,000kms and requires new PUMP and ACTUATOR.
Alfa is dam irresponsible selling this shit.....

Yes! And mazda RX-8 has 1.3 engine with awesome power! This is better but i prefer Alfa-Romeo because of italian style!
